  1. Hehe - if you want it "simple", get a "simple" breed It's people like us that have the "special" breeds that complicate things for ourselves! A Dane is a simple breed, feeding is one of it's quirks. As is a Poodle and it's grooming. As is a Rotti and it's hips. As is the pug with it's low birth results. Each breed has something that is a thorn in it's side, so to speak. How is it complicating it for ourself if we want the pro's and con's, so that i can make the best choice i can with the knowledge/research i have viewed or been provided with? If it was so cut and dry there would be no question on which way to go.
  2. This is like breast milk vs formula. Thank you very much GDgirl i have sent a PM back. So confussed, why can it not be simple?
  3. Poor baby she has what sounds like seperation anxiety She misses people, wnats to be with people. She doesn't like to be left alone.
  4. Thank you very much i have sent a PM
  5. Thank you for the replies and valued information, im going to have a good read. Im following my breeders instructions, im more then happy to slowly change Sways diet if there is a better option out there. Any Dane breeder free to help me on this? Thanks once again
  6. The breeder told me to soak it in warm water, then mix in her chicken mince, calcium and kelp. (she doesn't eat it dry i tried that once ) Sway is a 9 week old Great Dane Ive read research on elevated bowls and non elevated, There is always for and against. Unfortunatly until there is not a full proof method it's always going to be a "them Vs us" situation. BUT i am happy to read any relevant documantations to further my knowledge and understanding.
  7. Thanks very much, she is being feed science diet. I was wondering if it would invite bacteria etc being soaked in advance.
  8. Our pup has soaked kibble, before other goodies are added. It takes around 30min for it to absorb all the warm water and turn into mush. She doesn't liek to wait for it Can i soak it and put it in the fridge in advance? If so how long in advance 1-2 hours, 24 etc? IF i can soak it in advance can i add the chciken etc in advance aswell? OR is there a quicker way that im yet to catch up on? Thanks :D edited for poor spelling.
  9. Im guessing it would work. People can train them for grass, newspaper etc. Here is a tray i have found Litter Tray
  10. Opps i forgot to reply. Well we are now night toilet trained for crate use! Only took her 2 nights. She is getting better with the crate, i find she is like a baby. Wants security. So i take her to the toilet, place her in her crate, put my arm in pat her a little, she settles. And i leave just before she falls asleep. She wakes every 2-3 hours, and scratches at the door. I take her outside then put her back in. Breakfast time is 6.30am if only i could crate her after that Toilet training during the day is not bad at all. 8/10 so far with no assistance. She will walk outside by her self, but go in the doorway as the kids say, well you do tell her outside not outside on the grass up the other end. Were getting there, she is doing fabulously!!
  11. well based on my limited (but successful so far) experience carrying to the elimination area is best. That way you're in control more. I couldnt have got to where I am now with the distraction of a leash (plus back yard steps) for my puppy. Thank you  I pick her up now and again, but she has legs going everywhere I shall try it tonight and see how i go.
  12. I have a question now. Our Great Dane girl is 8 weeks and difficult to carry outside at night, how else can i get her to walk out side? We have only had her for 24hours, so everything is still new to her and she gets sidetracked. I call her she looks at me tilts her head to the side, and goes narrh im going that way and pees before i even get to her.
  13. Oh my all those cups Im yet to work our what my girl will eat, she arrives late on Thursday. I have been told she is on hills science diet and a little raw chicken mince, with calcium supplement. Plus raw meety bones and chicken necks + vegies and so far she isn't keen on fruit.
