Feeding Chicken Carcasses To A "scoffer" ?
mantis replied to raffikki's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Kenny was a scoffer & a vacuum cleaner with normal foods, but i trained him to eat some foods slowly & chew properly. Whenever he tried to scoff something, I'd take it off him & before giving it back, I say "chew it very nicely please" & he does, I know it sounds weird, but it works, because he loves his food & hates me taking it off him. Though at 14, might be hard to retrain your dog, though Bull breeds are very intelligent dogs & usually pick things up quickly. -

I find them pointless and grains often cause issues. Well Kenny's 10 & had no health issues, his coat is absolutely shiney & I put that down to the wheatgerm, OK the rice might be a filler, but it's full of carbs for energy & I am talking about feeding my 45kg dog, so adding rice & oats bulks out his food. -
Where do you get them from & how much? My boy is 45kgs, so how many a day would a large dog need?

I would be interested in the treats as well, I'll still keep giving Kenny Sasha's blend, but giving him a treat that helps his joints would be an added bonus.

I'm surprised none of you put pasta or grains in your Barf. I put boiled rice, wheatgerm & rolled oats in Kenny's. -
Dave sent me photo's of his beloved Chloe the day before she passed, the first Dobe I have seen with a tail, although not in the best shape because of her illnes, she was still a stunning dog. I know how much pain you are feeling at the moment mate, I felt like my heart got ripped out when my last two passed away, the reason why I didn't own a dog for a few years, because I didn't feel like I could handle that pain again. Now I have my Kenny, I know that one day he will cross the rainbow bridge, but will find it easier this time, knowing he will be with my Hobo, Sara, Chloe & all the other wonderful friends who are there & know one day I will join them. All my thoughts are with you Dave, I know that Chloe is looking down at you with love & still protecting her best mate.
