  1. with the LH wei, most people don't know they come in that variety.
  2. Long Hair's can be shown anywhere in the world.... EXCEPT the USA.
  3. wow ok, so it really is how long is a piece of string. Thanks for the input everyone.
  4. At my first show the judge asked me to do a triangle, no idea what I did, but it definately wasn't a triangle. At the Royal this year in baby puppy sweepstakes Willow was the first dog in the line-up for gundogs, after the judge looked her over, she said to take her round to the end of the line, well instead of gaiting her around the length of the ring and to the end, I just took he straight back to the end of the line!!! Major stuff up....
  5. ok fair enough I was talking to someone at a show yesterday, and he was saying it was approx $30K, I just couldn't understand how it could be that much, assuming the dog was a young dog, good conformation etc but not old enough to be titled. I was assuming the price of the dog would be $5000-$10000, no idea of the cost of the breed in question.
  6. Just out of interest, approx how much does it cost to import a dog from Europe to Australia, say from Germany, Sweden or the Netherlands?? I'm pretty sure I couldn't afford to do it, even if I wanted to, but just wondering approx how much it costs.
  7. Oppps, added that in because I was going to have heartworm treatments in as well but ran out of options.
  8. I'd use a capstar tablet, and then give comfortis. ETA: Capstar kills the fleas, starts working within 30mins. It was a godsend when we had a flea problem.
  9. I saw an ad on one of those free classified sites giving away their 8 year old female Irish setter, I was so tempted but we are at our limit now!!! Poor dogs.
  10. Lucky you Would save a lot in pet care with us, with the price of preventions! Yes, here in the nation's capital, that gives us more money to spend on buying brown cardigans and funding roundabouts. lol, yes you seem to love your HUGE roundabouts! I shouldn't laugh, I was born there!

  12. I'm just curious on what people use for tick and flea prevention, and just wondering if some products are more popular than others. It depends on which dog I'm treating, one of ours gets hotspots with spot-on's so he's on Sentinel Spectrum, the others are on frontline plus at the moment with either heartguard or the yearly injection.
  13. ok cool, thanks. The one Phoenix found was under the bushes near our envirocycle. We haven't put rat poison down at all and we've been here for 12 months so not sure how it died, unless a neighbour did the rat poison thing and it decided to come over to our place.
  14. Why would it matter if they had eaten the rat? Honest question? One of my dogs found a rat a couple of weeks ago, he didn't eat it, but ran around with it in his mouth. I didn't even consider calling a vet? Is it because it could of died of rat poisoning or because of something else?
  15. When I was house hunting 12 or so months ago, we looked at a house that had a heated outdoor kennel. Not sure how it was heated though, whether it was flooring or air conditioning like you would have in your own home. They had borzois, so they did have hair to keep them warm. A bit off topic but it is an option. Think it was solar powered from memory, and ran off the solar power that heated the pool. Was a very nice house but just had so many trees that dropped leaves and bark!!
  16. Got mine in Sydney last week as well, I didn't get the Feb mag at all, I'd say it's gone missing.
  17. I saw that, but assumed that they weren't accepting entries anymore because on the schedule it said "no late entries accepted". I'm new to this, would they accept it if oz entries is still open? I'd say so! I'd be giving it a whirl. ok cool. Will try it. thx

  19. Bugger it, I went to enter the gundog show on the Sunday but didn't realise entries had already closed.
  20. 72 ouch, that's a lot! Maybe I shouldn't of entered Willow. Thanks for the info.
  21. if anyone who has a catalogue can PM me the number of entries for baby puppy sweepstakes that would be great.... I assume it's listed in there somewhere. thx
  22. GW - Yes that is right, you will compete as normal so baby puppy of class, baby puppy of breed (Weimaraner Longhair) andthen you will compete against the SH weimaraner baby puppy of breed for Baby puppy in show. Thx ST
  23. speaking of specialties.... how do they work. Is it the same as all breeds. For example. The Wei specialty has both long and short, so in effect two breeds. If we are the only baby puppy LH, which if it's anything to go by the last 3 shows we will be, does that mean I have to compete against the baby puppy short hair wei for baby puppy in show? Or do they not have the in show awards at specialties. Sorry for the dumb question, but this will be my first specialty.
  24. Easter in Sydney? I'd be bringing the wet weather gear Yes, hasn't stopped raining all day here. I think it's forecast for a shower or two on the weekend, hopefully it will just be a shower later in the afternoon :D
  25. I'll be at the Beagle Rescue stand on Saturday, selling things to raise some much needed funds I'm showing Willow at the wei specialty on Friday at Erskine Park
