  1. I used to take treats for mine, then after awhile I just give it to them at random.
  2. I wonder if she is marking her territory
  3. Yep,I think its a dominence thing too.My older Kelpie x female does this with my smaller younger male.
  4. Wow,that is so  Steve.Wish my 2 could do that.Would make pooper scoopering so much easier. Any chance of a photo of him doing his deed?
  5. Hey Calliech,Im always one for trying experiments.Maybe I could try it and see what happens. ;) It may scare him off his bowl and hers for good!!! :p ;)
  6. Sorry, havent been on for ages.Ive found out what is going on.I decided to feed them both in front of the kitchen window so I could watch while doing the dishes. As soon as my female finished she left, the male finished walked over to her bowl, piddled in that and then piddled in his own.I have caught my girl pinching his food so I guess hes telling her "this is my bowl"and hes also claiming hers too. There is a bit of agro at times when I give them bones too.My girl is always claiming them for herself as well.Though the male is a lot smarter and pinches them behind her back.I just give them chicken frames or necks now. That has stopped the fighting. If I know Im gonna be outside for a while I will let them chew a bone but take them back when Im back inside. Thanks for all the feedback, btw.
  7. Ok,I have 2 dogs.Older de-sexed female and a 7mth-8mth de-sexed male.He is smaller than my older girl. They both get fed at the same time, though my older girl gets her bowl first, then a minute later the male gets his.I noticed last night as soon as the male finished he cocked his leg and peed in his own empy bowl Ages ago I used to live with a lady, she had a male Rotty and he would pee in my older girls bowl.I took that too mean he was showing her that he was boss.So can someone explain this new observation to me.Why would my male pee in his own bowl I would have thought he would pee in the females bowl instead. Hope this is in the right section too.
  8. With my older girl I put small water balloons slightly buried and when she had a few gush water at her she soon learnt to stop.I then made her an area where I taught her to dig by placing treats in there. No more holes now but just in her play area.I was also told to use those mothball cages but Im not sure if thats the way to go if your dog is a chewer. The smell is supposed to deter any animal away apparently.

    Dogs Howling.

Thanks,Midol. Is there anyone else out there that can give me suggestions on why he does it?Someone told me it could also be a dominence problem, hes doing it for attention
  10. Rocca my 7mth old new boy from a rescue group has started howling. He started yesterday and its usually early in the morning. He has just started and its only 4:38.Ive growled at him saying "No"each time. Why is he doing it?Hes a de-sexed male.Is it a part of seperation anxiety?Since we have had him he usually follows us everywhere and can get underfoot. He has my other dog for company as well as us.We dont always have both dogs inside either.I know from the previous owners(was surrendered to the rescue due to young baby)and they had him as an inside dog, also his foster carer kept him inside too. What should I be doing if he howls again?
  11. He was put down as a JR/Staffy x to me.So really have no idea. Can see the JR in him for sure.Teddy wont last long cos he has been de-fluffed by my other dog.Rocca just has Teds plump legs to suck on now.I find he is a very highly strung dog so maybe this is way of relaxing and winding down.I think I will just keep supplying him with new fluffies.Yes it is kinda cute really. When I can work out how to post pics here I will pop some on.I am very blonde when it comes to these things.
  12. Roc,s is about 7mths now.Only had him for a month and he came with his own little teddy bear.Roc,s sucks on teddys leg and kneads it with his paws. While he is doing this his eyes are nearly closed. Why does he do this and is it something that will last forever or will he grow out of it?It can be annoying at times when he does it near me,cos it can be so loud.Should I wean him off it or will it affect him in anyway?
