  1. Oh Rainey, What a nightmare (but a little bit funny) Good luck with the shoe hunt!!!
  2. Thank you. Andy had his drain removed tonight and was given another 5 days of antibiotics to be on the safe side. Lou got checked over too and despite still being very swollen down there, vet is very happy with his progress.
  3. Well, I have come home to a completely different dog. He is not 100% but definitely 85% He is eating, driking and running around with his brother. WE still took him to the vet to be on the safe side, and he is very happy with his progress. We just had to give the antibiotics time to start to work. I am soooooo relieved, thank you all for your support over a very scary time.
  4. He just maybe with OH bringing up a very close second!! ;)
  5. Hehehe that's true! You know what these men are like when they get sick! OH has just reported in - he has eaten a handful of kibble, taken a drink and wandered out in to the garden. this is much better than he was. If only we had been given the anti biotics like Andy had (Andy had bigger op for undescended testicle - apologies for repeating myself).
  6. I hope so too. He is normally such a fit and healty dog that I am sure he will be fine. I am now getting on John's nerves constantly sending him SMS messages for updates!!!
  7. Thanks every one for your well wishes. I will keep you all posted once we get back from the vets tonight. BOF - we miss Miss shimmer too - she certainly leads the boys on a merry dance. I think it will be at least another week or 2 before we are back. I forgot to mention he did a pee on the floor last night - which I thought was a good sign.
  8. Lou seems to be a bit brighter this morning. I managed to get him to eat a can of sardines, some milk and eggs and he had about 4 licks of water. Have spoken to the vet who just said to leave him to rest as the shot he gave him will wack him about. We have to take him back again tonight for another check up. I am at work, OH is at home with him.
  9. I keep getting him to lick the honey water off my fingers as I don't have a syringe. Some times he will take some and other time he wont. At least he is getting some fluid.
  10. Thanks poodle wrangler, I have some vet numbers ready just in case I need them.
  11. The surgery was on friday. I feel so awul as we concentrated on Andy's recovery more as he had a more major surgery for an undescended testicle. Andy is fine, bouncing around, and Its poor Lou we should have been keeping an eye on. In that case I'd be seeing the vet as soon as poss. I thought if it was only done today he may still be a bit groggy. Also agree with other who have said bring him inside tonight and realise that you'll probably have to bring both in - being siblings and together all the time. Perhaps crate them in you bedroom so you can keep an eye during the night. They sleep inside in a crate every night, but its too big for our bedroom. I think I will leave him in the living room where he is now and sleep on the sofa with him
  12. He has just licked some yoghurt off my fingers, but still wont drink anything. Have offered him milk and egg.
  13. We live in Sydney and its not too cold out there. We can see him in his kennel from where we are. We kept bringing him inside earlier on and he kept getting up and walking back outside. he has a blanket which he is led on. No shivering or anything. Will go for another check. ETA we have bought him inside he didnt want to come though - OH had to carry him.
  14. The vet said it was mostly brusing coming out and no infection was present. Temp in normal range. I will give him an hours peace (with the odd walk by) and see how he is. We can see him from where we are if he does eat the cheese or drink or go for a wander. He isnt crying or shaking or anything. I think he is just exhausted. I hope. Will look for an emergency vet number. Thanks guys for your help, please keeo any more ideas coming. I think i am in for a long night.
  15. No, no mobile number and the office number doesn't divert. He gave Andy anti biotics due to bigger surgery, but Lou's surgery was so routine, vet didn't feel it was neccesary. ETA his temp was normal at the vets.

  17. I have just popped outside to try that. He licked a little bit off my fingers but that was it. His nose or mouth don't feel dry at all. God I wish I could contact the vet
  18. I have rang the vet, no answer and I don't have an out of hours number for him. Lou is currently in his kennel sleeping. I put 2 pieces of cheese in there with him (his favourite) and he hasn't touched them. But when Andy went to steal a piece, Lou growled at him? Maybe he has drank earlier, he doesn't drink as much as Andy does, maybe he is just tired and the anti biotics are making him feel knocked about?
  19. He has had 2 pees since we got back about 2 hors ago - maybe he is just not thirsty?
  20. My black labrador's desex wound has swollen up and he was very lethargic when I got home from work. Took him to the vet straight away. The vet has given him a shot of antibiotics and then a 5 day course and told us to take him straight back if we are worried. Since coming home, he has gotten way more lethergic and wont drink or eat. Is this just the anti biotics? I know that when I have a course they make me feel really rotten. Should I be worried? He keeps gong outside and wont come in either, maybe he likes it because it is cold out there? Should I be worried he wont drink, I even made him some very thin gravy which I chilled with some ice and he wouldnt drink that either? Any advise is really welcome Thanks
  21. Thanks guys. Hopefully OH and Lou will follow on and join us next week.
  22. Andy and I passed from class 1 to class 2 and earned ourselves a blue ribbon this morning. So happy
  23. Did you have any luck with locating his breeder?
  24. I didn't think it would be good for the dogs. So after chasing my son and friend around with the heads (for pure entertainment value) I have put them in the bin.
  25. Have just found some amazing value chicken necks, wings and frames at only 50c per kilo! Have totally stocked up. In the bag of necks, there were 2 with the heads still attached. Glad OH isn't here, he would have passed out So can i give them to the pups? I am worried about the beaks...? ETA:- If any one wants to know where it is, just PM me!
