I live near newcastle and get my mally...hydro bathed ears cleaned nails trimmed and blow dryed the lady usually spends about 2hrs on him and all i pay is $25.00 which i think is an absolute bargain

The water didnt work for me as my mally loves water and pulled extra clothes off in the hope of getting wet lol But the chilli in the stocking did the trick. As for toys anything big and robust he loves a kong with peanut butter but his favourite is an old tractor tyre.

thanks working setters and everyone else who has given input i will try a few of the ideas to see what works best then stick at that one. Its so frustrating as ive only ever owned border collies or some type of working dog and all ive had to do is think about what i want them to do and its done lol

Thanks mrsD i definatley try that while waiting to find a cheap e collar. sounds like a good idea as he always preforms better when he thinks it was his idea lol.

cosmolo...ive been to k9's site and read a few of his posts on here..they sound great but im like 3hrs away from kurrajong but if all else fails i think maybe a trip down there would be a good idea.Ive been looking at those collars hoping to pick up a cheap one on ebay.

he likes to retrive the ball or tug toy maybe 3or 4 times then just ignores it thanks for your advice tony..will have a look now

toller,thats what i have been doing.but it wont help my problem..yes it will keep everyone safe tho.

hi tony, i have been doing it since he was a puppy..he is very food focused and it all works brilliant on a lead and use to work off lead to, like i said its only been the last six months and its driving me nuts as now he cant come to the beach and many places he used to go unless i tie him up.

he is dog friendly ..but i do worry about cars..trouble is everytime i think he has got it days later he lapses

Hope ive put this in the right place if not pls forgive me im new to all this. I have a 3yr old mally who up untill the last 6 months was perfect now all of a sudden he has become a teenager with selective hearing.Inside and in the yard he is spot on but if we are outside off leash and he see's a bird a person.another dog ..infact anything at all that he feels needs investigation he is off like a rocket and wont come back till he is good and ready.I worry beacuse he is a large dog and it frightens people also he is more then happy to bolt across the rd. I have have tried a 20ft lunge lead let him go to end then recall works everytime but soon as off lead..off he goes also tried food rewards. A few people have said to me that because he is a malamute it is in his nature to chase things i agree with that but also many have said its just how they are and he will have to be kept on lead..this i dont agree with. Any suggestions or ideas would be great thanks in advance.
