  1. I have a daxie x mini foxie who loves to chew....i know both breeds love to do this and i knew that before I got the little devil. My question is what toy can I give him that he isnt going to destroy in 2.5 seconds? He loves soft plush toys so for a treat ill buy him a cheap one so he can have fun destroying it and he loves squeaky toys also. I have 2 other dogs that love these toys as well but they're not QUITE as destructive! Does anyone know of some tough toys that will keep his interest and will last?I swear Winston was a staffy or something in another life cos he's as tough as one!
  2. haha what a funny thread....it starts off with a simple parvo question and turns into an argument haha priceless! good luck with ur new baby she looks adorable cant wait to see more pics!
  3. Yeah its ok, i just got pissed cos im sick of all the judging that goes on here. People ask a simple question and get made to feel like a bad owner etc. Clearly I love my dogs to the people that know me. And yes I realise the bitch getting pregnant was a mistake on my part but as I mentioned I didnt know she was on heat and she was meant to be getting de-sexed
  4. yeah thanks for that, he's all good again now tho i think he just got a big fright. now i take EXTRA SUPER care when walking him!
  5. I havent had the pup de-sexed yet as I thought their testicles had to drop completely before they could be done??? the bitch was about a year and a half in her second heat when she got pregnant although i cant be 100% sure cos i rescued her. she was de-sexed after all the puppies had gone when my vet gave me the go ahead. I realise that accidental litters are mainly why so many animals get dumped etc and I had every intention of de-sexing her before she got pregnant. As for the off leash park, when im walking I walk around the perimeter and keep my dogs away from others as much as possible unless I know the other dog cos I am always concerned another dog could attack or something similar. I think that answered all the questions
  6. I did have something constructive to say, desexing dogs is important and not breeding dogs with bad temps is important too What did you think? You could have a female and male dog neither are desexed and you would not get puppies I suppose you gave the other pups away free to friends? Sorry but that quote above shits me to tears, if everyone out there stopped having accidental litters thousands of dogs would not die every year It wasnt constructive at all it was yet another bitchy comment that ppl tend to like leaving on here. Before u get up on ur high horse u might wanna know all the facts! I strongly believe in de-sexing and all my dogs are de-sexed aside from the puppy cos he's too young. The dog she mated with lives at my parents and i took her for a visit not knowing she was on heat....thats how she got pregnant. No i didnt give the puppies away to friends i sold them to ppl i chose very carefully as i didnt want them going to bad homes cos id bonded with every one of them. I dont know why i bother posting anything on here, it seems like unless ur a breeder or u show ur dogs ur opinion or questions are meaningless.
  7. I have taken alot of care in introducing Rocky back into the dog park and now he's back to his normal self! He was playing with a GS just the other day and having the time of his life! Turns out "bad breeding" wasnt an issue
  8. i didnt breed my girl with the male on purpose, i didnt even know she was on heat til it was too late and i wasnt gonna terminate the pregnancy cos of that. rocky is doing much better now thanks to everyone that had something constructive to say
  9. thanks for the advice!i dont want to take the fun of the dog park away from him cos he loves it so much, so ive started just taking him to quiet areas so he can still run around....and boy can he run!he's a really good boy and always comes when called. im actaully surprised at how obedient he is for such a young dog. I hope he'll get his confidence back cos b4 the malamute incident he was the bravest puppy in the world!
  10. i agree, i had 2 of my dogs de-sexed at the same time and they hated it soooo much. id give them a break from it while i cld supervise them then put it back on while i was at work. soon enough it was time to get the stitches out and they were free pooches again
  11. Hey guys, I have 3 dogs a mini daxi, a shih tzu and her 4 month old pup. I take them to the dog park on a regular basis and they are always very socialble but lately the puppy (rockstar) has starting getting really scared of the other dogs and tries to hide by me. He was trampled by a puppy malamute (which was quite large) I had tried moving the dogs away but the pup kept following us and its owner was doing nothing to stop its behaviour. I took Rocky to my friends place to meet her new french bulldog puppy and he totally freaked!he kept baring his teeth and barking and hiding between my legs. i didnt really respond to him as i try not to "baby" my dogs but i didnt want him biting my friends dog either. Is there anything i can do to help him build his confidence? His 3yr old father has the same problem and cant be taken where there is going to be lots of dogs or he goes mental. I absolutely love taking my dogs out so i dont want this to effect his life. he gets along well with his father and my parents 2 other dogs so i dont know whats going on. any advice wld be great cos i dont want my baby being scared anymore
  12. thanks raven ill try that!they hate eucalyptus so it might just work!no accidents 2 nights in a row whoo!!!
  13. as a dog groomer myself the easiest and quickest way to get a dog to let u brush it without it wanting to play is to simply place the dog on a table and brush!talk to the dog in a normal voice and try to keep eye contact, u will find the dog will be more interested in listen to what ur trying to say. i know it sounds obvious but it honestly works. as the owner of 2 shitzu crosses they have really long hair and i had to teach them to stop this behaviour. if the dog continues to try and bite the brush or tries to play around, simply dont tolerate it and scold if u must....but not too firmly or the dog will associate brushing with being in trouble. also ignoring the biting and try to move the brush to a different area til the dog settles can work. any questions feel free to message me good luck
  14. yeah i know, last time i had the carpets cleaned i was told that!there was no accidents last night which was amazing. i sprayed some good old sard oxy eucalyptus spray on a spot where he peed and he hated the smell so maybe that will deter him a little. he's a slow learner bless him but he brings so much joy so i can never stay mad for long
  15. Thanks guys Ill try that, the little bugger seems to enjoy stressing me out lol gotta love them tho!
  16. My 4 month old shitzu lhasa mix is doing well with toilet training and only ever has a few accidents. i was wondering if anyone knew any household remedies for getting the stains/smell out of the carpet?i use a product called "Urine Off" that works with a balck light but its not that great
  17. my puppy rocky and his sister who lives with my mum do the same thing. they're constantly hitting there heads, we're worried they'll knock themselves out or something lol
  18. they're all so beautiful but Oliver is my fav!i love GS's they're the best dogs in the whole world!!ur lucky to have 3
  19. thanks for everyones input.in answer to some questions:there is a dog park right near my house that we go to almost everyday so they get to run and play (you'd be surprised at how much energy they have - they think they're big dogs) they get training 2-3 times a week cos i know they're smart and they enjoy the learning. im at work for 6 hours a day but i always try to leave something interesting in the yard for them to keep their minds busy. i definitely have the time for all 3 otherwise i wouldnt have them, that wouldnt be fair on the dog.im a very responsible dog owner. i have tried everything that has been suggested but i guess with age they may grow out of some habits.its only really a problem cos i live in a rented property so if they ruin something i have to fix it before inspection time lol thanks for everyones help!
  20. Hi everyone!im new on here and ive been doing lots of reading to try and find answers to my probs to no avail! i have 3 dogs: 1 1/2 yr old shitzu, her baby who is 16weeks and a 7 month old mini dax x mini foxie. no matter what i do they continue to destroy everything in site.they have all money can buy and all the love in the world but nothing will stop them. so far my RENTAL yard looks like someone has been digging to get to china and everything from my NEW sofa to the carpet is ruined. its frustrating cos they're all really smart, obedient dogs so i dont know what i can do to stop them from being bored. any help would be great! this is them
