  6. PetPlan does NOT have the Hollard group as the Underwiter-they have Allianz I believe that just about all the other Pet Health Insurers are all underwriten by The Hollard Group.
  7. I couldn't agree with you more Steve Petplan are fantastic for the breeder and fantastic for the owner
  8. If you go to the online Ringleader Magazine August 2011 edition you will be able to read a Real Life Lassie to the Rescue story from when my homebred Ch Boldfolk Amazing Grace aka Gracie saved my neighbours life. From memory it is on Page 34 Thanks Wendye fo the article :D
  9. I have been with PetPlan since Oct 2008 and am very happy with them. Once they have accepted a Condition it is accepted for Life plus their waiting period is 21 days, the others are 30 days. Most of the staff are dog owners/vet nurses so they understand things Being on a Pension I do not have the funds to cover an expensive Vet bill but I have Petplan. I really researched all the companies and to me PetPlan offered the best coverage for my dog and the best value for money. Also if you a Registered Breeder with ANKC you can take out FREE breeders insurance- with that once a pup you have bred goed to it's new home the new owners get 6 weeks free PetInsurance up to the Value of $3000. Petplan
  10. way to go to my dear friends at Kilgarrin on ResDCC and RUBOB
  11. Way to go Weisnjac on being awarded Reserve Bitch Challenge
  12. Andisa, this is just disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!! They obviously DON'T want dogs at the Royal. I have heard that from a relative horse judge who told me that they will move the Dog judging to say KCC Park just as they have moved the most of the Horse events to Werribee. I would definitely be writing a letter of complaint and requesting a refund of monies. This is one of the many reasons that I WON'T enter the Melbourne Royal
  13. yes and the VCA forgot to put in the Schedule that No Challenges will be awarded to Collies Rough or Smooth( breed Club Specialty same day)! The poor show secretary has tried several times to have an addenum put in VicDog to no avail and she has been inundated with calls about this and has had to return entries.
  14. any Collie Rough results please? Thanks
  15. Having had a dog with correctly diagnosed Inflammatory Bowel Disease I can tell you that the only method of getting a correct diagnosis is by Endoscopy(like colonoscopy) done by an Internal Vet medicine specialist. Usually the dog will present with symptons of food intolerances, diarrhoea, constipation, gurgling tummy and often vomitting. A hell of a lof of people, including Vets, don't understand that there is a Huge difference between Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. They are 2 totally different Health Issues both in dogs and people. I personally have medically diagnosed Inflammatory Bowel Disease myself. It can be hereditary or you may have a predisposition to eat and then you get an inflammed Colon and it result's in IBD-either Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis( that is what I have and for me I cannot take the normal medication for it as I am allergic to Sulphur drugs and the normal medication has a sulphur base). It is "trial and error" with me. I cannot tolerate fried foods, spicy foods, herbs, pre-crumbed foods etc. I think the GP Vet is a wee bit premature in telling the owner the pup has IBD as he/she probably has not even done endoscopes. If the Vet thinks the dog has IBD he/she should be referring the owner and pup on to see an Internal Medicine Specialist.
  16. Thanks Does anyone know yet what date the Collies Rough and Smooth are judged? Thank you
  17. Could someone please advise me of when the Brisbane "Ekka" show is for 2011? Many thanks :D EFS
  18. I am hoping that over the weekend the Hospital will allow me to take Gracie in to see our neighbour and if they do the camera will be coming that is for sure. DogsVic have already sought my permission to publish the article on the Website and in the Gazette and I have given permission. Thanks GayleK- yes Dad would have been very proud too :D
  19. As most of you know I have Rough Collies. Well today my homebred girl Ch Boldfolk Amazing Grace saved an elderly neighbour's life. At approximately 8.05am this morning "Gracie" was scratching at my front door and doing a "distress bark"(she has only ever done this once before, Christmas Day 2008 when my late Dad, Bill, was too ill to get out of the bed). I opened the front blinds and door to see what was distressing her only to find that my 80 year old neighbour flat on the ground about 2 doors down from me. I put Gracie back inside and went to my neighbours aid. He was semi-conscious and bleeding(he mobilises using a 4 wheel walker and also had bilateral hip replacements and also has a pacemaker and defribillator). I called 000 and beckoned 2 of the other residents to get some blankets etc to cover him until the Paramedics arrived. About 25 minutes later the Paramedics did arrive and my neighbour was taken to the nearest Hospital Emergency Department. My neighbour had suffered a Heart Attack and as he lost conscious he fell. He has been transferred to another hospital but has told my other neighbour( who assists in his care) that "Colleen's dog saved my life you know!". Had my "Gracie" not scratched at my door and said her Distress Bark nobody would have found my neighbour as he was well away from his Unit putting his rubbish in the dumpster and most of my other neighbours had either gone to work or were still in bed.. "Gracie" has been named "The Hero Dog" by the other residents and they now know that if she is barking in that manner that someone is in need of Urgent assistance( and that she is not "nuisance barking"). I am one very proud owner of my true Lassie aka "Gracie". Colleen
