hello please let me know how to get to the cav thread
-
My Cav has a thing about ripping up tissues but then my cats did the same thing my tip is same as with kids and my previous dogs put everything out of reach you don’t want them to have, because they just don’t know they are not allowed it you can tell them a million times but lets face it they don’t speak our language and to them a toy or shoes they cant distinguish from the two try your best to only let them get at what you want and if you forget give your self a spank ( or a cry over the $100+ shoes that are now trashed )if you punish them when you get home they have no idea what they have done Prevention is the best thing

Pity the vet firstly admitted she knew nothing about Eagle Pack and then decided she would grade it as B grade. She was correct in that she knows nothing about it so she is in no position to grade it. Vets usually recommend the foods they sell, crappy as they may be. My vet tried it on me when I said I fed BARF. She told me she was a 'traditional' vet who would only recommend either of two brands of food they sold. I replied that most of us are open to progress regarding new ideas and methods, particularly in the area of veterinary treatment and surgical procedures. Our ideas on healthy human food has evolved and the same can be said for dog food. ha-ha that very true we try to improve what our diets are why should we not do the same with our pets -

HI Iv been reading through the thread my little girl was on the breeders recipe all fresh food made by me and a little super coat as I was given a packet wanting to upgrade I got Eagle Pack holistic chicken and rice but Lucy was not really going for it When I mention it in puppy class first the Vet gave me a lecture about making my own food how that was not a good idea and that breeders Know nothing and then told me that advantage is a A grade premium food and was Australian and Eagle Pack was cheap B grade Premium food when I told her that Eagle pack was not cheap and all organic she basically said she did not know anything about it and would not recommend it as it was B grade I’m thinking she was full of Crap But am I wrong You guys seem to know and Gretel You have a Cav what do you think -
OHHHHHHHwwwwwwww shes so cute

Mabey it has to do with the type of dog I have a Cavalier my breeder got Lucy done at 6 weeks C4 and told me to get her done again at 14 weeks C4 and upgrade to the C5 later on when I told my vet she said it was unusual but not unheard of to do this and happlly complyed with what the breeder had recomended

I'm not sure which person you're offering advice to... Jak gets fed in her crate, she goes in there when she's tired during the day to lay down, but it is also used of a night time for her to sleep in and also as a time out venue. She comes out again once she's calmed down and at no time has acted so distressed that I've felt she is scared of her crate or that she absolutely hates being in there. I'm pretty sure my last post mentioned that she slept through from 9pm until 5am. Which toilet stop should I be writing down? The one at 5am when she wakes up? She has her pigs' ear with her when she first goes in to bed, but she doesn't really pay it any attention considering we've actually just played a half an hour game of fetch before she goes to bed. She's pretty tired then from running up and down the hallway 50 odd times... Since I've put the blanket over her crate she's slept in there quite well (again as mentioned in my last post). I can assure you that I don't just put Jak in her crate and hope for the best. If I did, I doubt that I would have requested advice in the first place because the care factor would be pretty low then, wouldn't it? If the advice is for me Im not going to crate train I find that this is not the way to go with me or Lucy but thank you for your advice if in the future we do go with the crate I will refer to it But good on you Rai It sounds like it worked great for you and im so glad you had a good night sleep a happy owner means a happy puppy

To the other poster’s that got there puppy to sleep that so great I have unfortunately put her back in my room in her bed on the floor she slept straight through only waking to take her self to the toilet Unfortunately the crate thing had had the worse effect she cried all night for 2 nights and is now totally freaking out when I go out side or close the door or if she is alone at all (except in my room which does not seem to upset her) absolutely crying the house down and shaking she’s never done this before O well she is quiet and at least we can sleep I know others in this thread will think I’m doing the wrong thing but I have always let my children sleep in my room if they were afraid and I guess I’m doing the same thing with my dog as long as both the kids and the dog sleep and are quiet they can stay

The Puppy I was going to get from the breeder was discovered to have a hernia she swaped the puppys as she said the other one would need to have it fixed when she was desexed at 5 months she said it was not a huge deal but that it did need to be fixed she has been a registered breeder for 25 years so I assume she knew what she was talkng about
-
I totally sympathies with you Rhi I have sort of the same problem although mine is 10 weeks old the breeder said to feed her late so hunger does not wake her up but she is up at 11-12 pm toilet then 1-2 am to go toilet and again at 4am does not go back to sleep for about an hour or more even though there is no talk she takes her self to the toilet ( we use pamper mats that are in the bathroom we live in an apartment ) the problem is she does not go back to bed after these toleit visits . I get up after a while and put her back in bed but there is no talking and After the 4 am wake up does not go back to sleep till 8 in the morning she doesn’t make much noise and never barks just once in a while yelps and runs around my room and stands up sraping the bedding trying to get my attention I think I’m going to follow your guys advice and lock her in the bathroom for the night a person needs their sleep

THANKS For all your comment’s We are trying to stick to fresh food for one thing I had already made about 4 kg of the stuff and used good human chicken breast mince so it cost a bit and would you believe the little rascal likes the dry food better The breeder gave us a sample pack of Super coat for emergency’s and travelling and she really likes it and warm weetbix with honey The breeder told me they are just like kids and would rather have tasty dry food or sweet food and not give in because she will hold out if she thinks she can get better so I think we are going to try a combo dry food for one first meal of the day and the rest fresh Fingers crossed she will come around and start to eat it

Yes very very excited her name is Louise "Lucy" Does anyone know about fresh vs. dry food? The breeder told me we must give fresh food only and only get dry food as emergency food they gave me a recipe with lost of diffent things and I have to add calcium . I had a Vet look at it and they said it was a good recipe but said I should get her on to dry puppy food ASAP so it got all the right nutrients. Any thoughts anyone

Thank you Gretel she is a wonderful puppy

HI every one I’m new Cavalier owner I get her next week at 8 weeks Just asking the experts When do you start walking her? What sort of lead would you recommend? What sort of bed is best? And most importantly will she be ok in the house alone for 1-2 hours or should I take her to my parents house if I need to go to the shop. We have a cat any ideas on the best way to introduce them to each other. I have seen a picture of a puppy attacked by the family cat It lost an eye I am scared this will happen to my new baby I will not leave them alone together but I would like them to be able to get along.
