  1. Will she walk on the lead to get to her park? Like if you parked where she could see it and then walked her on lead towards the park and gradually increase the distance? Hi, Thats the problem, she will only walk in the direction of the park. As soon as I get there she either wants to be let off leash, or we have to turn back, as she won't walk any further, and she doesn't walk in the opposite direction to the park, only to go home.
  2. She loves her food, but the problem is she doesn't always like working for it. Today I tried using treats and her favourite toy, and she slowly made a few steps, but still doesnt want to walk in my direction! Tomorrow I am going to try driving to a different place, even somewhere 2 or so streets away and see how she is in a different environment. Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Hi All, I have had her all checked with the Vet and she is as healthy as can be. We have an off leash park around the corner from us, and she loves to be let loose, it is just that when she is only the leash, I cant get her to walk my way, only the direction she wants to go in. She is being very stubborn!!! The VET did say she is a very timid and shy pup so that may have something to do with it. As at home, she is so active, running and jumping around!!!
  4. Hi All, I have run into a problem with my Golden Retriever, she is now nearing 7 months, but I cannot get her to walk on a leash. I have checked out this thread: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=110779 Have tried, the reward, and praise as mentioned but still nothing works. I find that she will be ok for the first 2 or 3 minutes, and then she wants to turn back home. She just stops and I cant get her moving at all. I have even tried walking with other people in front, and that helps a little but she still stops after a couple of minutes. As soon as I attach her lead to her collar, I cant get her to move, I have to carry her to the front gate. Any ideas on how to get her enjoying the walk? Thanks and any tips or advice would be great! Adam.
  5. Very good retrieving, I wish Holly could get there, she loves playing fetch, and will bring it back but doesn't release the ball each time, she wants to play with it instead Hopefully we will get there in the end. Love the Wagon Video!!!
  6. Hey Everyone, A few of you know Hollys website at http://www.adamonearth.com where I've got heaps of photos and Videos. I load them onto YouTube as well at http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=adamonearthcom so if you got time check them out and let me know what you think. Thanks, Adam.
  7. I don't want to change from Nutro, I'm very happy with how Holly has adjusted and now she loves it. A friend of mine was looking at putting his Labrador onto Innova, but I have convinced him to go with Nutro!
  8. Ok seeing he doesn't want to buy Innova from Pets Paradise he is going for the Nutro or Advance, personally I advised him to go with Nutro, seeing Holly is doing really well on it.
  9. I am the same and really don't like the idea of buying it from a Pets Paradise store. I spoke to my mate about it today, and he wasn't aware of the way puppies are purchased to be sold in the stores, so he ain't going to buy it now. The more people aware of how Pets Paradise and other pet stores operate the better! Hopefully some independent pet food stores will stock it eventually!
  10. I know thats the bad side of buying Innova from Pets Paradise. It's a shame that there are no other stores that sell it in Melbourne!
  11. Hi, I have been feeding Holly my 12 week Golden Retriever, Nutro - Large breed puppy and have been happy with it. A friend of mine is wanting to start feeding Innova to his 15 week Labrador and from what I have read it seems to be a very good product, maybe even better than Nutro. Just wondering what your thoughts on Innova are. As far as I am aware it is only available here in Australia from Pets Paradise stores and for a 15kg bag it cost $155.00. Also it has not been affected by the Product Recall in the U.S. The link to the product is: http://www.innovapet.com/products/default.asp?id=1259 Thanks, Adam.
  12. You might want to check out this link: http://www.petplace.com/dogs/balanoposthitis/page1.aspx I have included some info from the site for you as well: Don't know if he is suffering all the symptoms but would be best to get it checked out. Hope that helps. Adam.
  13. Thanks for the advice Stormie! I have been moving her bowl away after 15 minutes of her eating and whatever is left over I chuck. At dinner tonight she only a few kibble pieces and when I went over to collect the bowl, she went racing to it and finished it off. I've noticed it is only the mornings that she wants me there when she eats, I have no idea why. Still got the problem with her not going to her kennel, I put her in there just before and started playing with her when she was in there, hoping to get her comfy and relaxed but she was forcing her way through and as soon as I stopped she jumped out. Will try on the weekend again!
  14. Yeah I think that must be it, she just likes me to be there while she eats. I will test her out tomorrow morning, slowly walking away and see what happens, but main thing is that she eats all her meal. I went out and picked up some beef mince and chicken necks, so tomorrow lunch will add the mince for her and Friday she can have a chicken neck in there!
  15. Ok Thanks! Will feed her 1/2 a cup 3 times a day from tomorrow. I did think 3/4 cup was too much but it was listed like that in the handbook, so I followed it.
  16. Ok Lunch and Dinner all gulped up apart from a few kibble pieces. I have fed her dry all day today and she seems to love it! You can hear her crunching them and really getting into it! We knocked down an old BBQ we had in the backyard today, and caught her trying to eat the little pieces of concrete that were left on the floor! She was crunching like crazy, lucky I caught her and took it out her mouth...with a little fight! They will try eating anything I tell ya!
  17. Ok Update! I fed her breakfast and didn't wet the food, she seemed to enjoy it only leaving a little in the bowl, but she ate so much more. One thing I did notice though, was that she wanted me to stay while she ate. Everytime I walked away inside she would start barking and not eat her food, almost like she was protesting I think that might be the problem, but I can't stay with her while she eats every meal, especially the mornings as I have to get ready for work. Hopefully lunch will be better. Adam.
  18. Thanks Everyone for all your help and advice! Im just about to feed her now, and will not wet the food, leave it dry! Will go out and buy some beef mince and chicken necks to start mixing in for her. Chicken necks once every 3 days (I heard not too often) and beef mince one meal a day. If she doesn't eat her meal again, I will revert back to the breeder recommended diet and take it from there! Will keep you posted! Thanks
  19. Thanks Benny, We haven't had a puppy for years now, so I forget about all these little things, and go in to panic mode straight away. I will add just a bit of mince to her meal tomorrow and reduce the amount of kibble with it, I was going to add beef mince, I think that should be ok...or would lamb be better? My other concern is her not wanting to go into her kennel! It is driving me nuts, if I put food in for her or her toys she will go in and get them but then come straight back out. I really want her to start using it during the day, to keep her warm etc. Hopefully she will come around! Thanks, Adam.
  20. Thanks Kharn, She is the only dog we have, so your right in saying she doesn't have to compete for the food. I will add some raw mince to her dinner tomorrow, maybe that will get her eating more, as I know she loves the chicken necks! Thanks again everyone!
  21. She loves her water and drinks a lot. I think I might let it go for now, but if it continues till the weekend take her to the Vet, for a quick check up! What age should I stop wetting the food? Mayby thats the problem.
  22. Hi, She is being fed 3/4 cup each meal three times a day. No treats during the day, but will in a couple of days as we are starting training. She keeps down all her food. Noticed it around 4 or 5 days ago, she wasnt eating all her lunch. Then this morning she left most of brekky and most of lunch, and just gave her dinner and she went to it for a bit then walked away. I have been wetting the food, so thought mayby she might not like that and will try not wetting it tomorrow. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.
  23. Hi, Im starting to worry a little bit, my 9 week old Golden Retriever, has decided eating a 1/4 of her meal each time is ok, and leaves the rest. Is this something that is normal in puppies, or is it something that I should be running to the vet over? I'm feeding her Supercoat/Nutro the reason I say both is that I am slowly weaning her off Supercoat, so am mixing the foods. Thanks, Adam.
  24. Exactly what we did this morning. I just wanted to know other people's experiences with it. :p Thanks!
  25. Holly has not been eating all of her lunch. She is only 9 weeks old. I will keep feeding lunch to she is at least 3-4 months then if she still isn't interested cut it right down to a snack.
