  1. Can anybody nominate any person or business that they believe is worthy of an award ? Is it that simple ?
  2. In a perfect world, yes, no dog would ever escape out of its yard.
  3. Thanks, but i don't think they are suitable. I'm up you know what creek with boarding i think. Boronia, that is the last place i would want my dog to stay. My dog went there for training years ago. Thanks for trying to help.
  4. Thanks AMS. I haven't tried those two, but i've just about given up on the idea of a holiday.
  5. Thanks, but i tried Redgum and they weren't interested at all. I can't win. I've heard of that place, but have no feedback about them.
  6. Sounds fantastic Bubitty. Like every business, there are good and bad. Sounds like you sure found a great one.
  7. You mean this for example .. http://www.bestdogfacts.com/what-do-you-think-video-cesar-millan-kicking-dogs/
  8. That's actually what I was thinking- I wouldn't trust it, but I'm sure many kennels operate like this in reality, despite what they advertise as doggy nirvana while you're on holiday.. Yes they all make it look like doggy heaven, but they're all just a business there to make money. I will be calling one kennel Monday and see how i go / If they are prepared to take him, i'll give him a trial run at the kennel for a couple days and see how it goes before i book a longer stay. I actually have a kennel in NSW and take small / medium dogs. We offer hands on all day and I am quite offended at the pointed comment..... Yes they all make it look like doggy heaven, but they're all just a business there to make money." I think you should look around and see some uomarket facilities before you make such a general comment. I have seen upmarket kennels, the type that offer private rooms, A/C, tv ect. and i have heard feedback from owners of dogs that have stayed in these kennels.
  9. Don't be sorry AMS. It's not your fault.
  10. No i didn't call. I wouldn't book any kennel without an inspection first, but next time i will make an initial phone call first.
  11. Unfortunately it didn't work out. 140km trip for nothing They only take on friendly, social dogs due to the fact the dogs need to be taken out twice a day. Insurance was also an issue, which i can understand in todays blame others society. I nicely pointed out to the lady at the front desk that their website might need updating . Below is a direct quote from the kennels website. Please let us know if your dog has any difficult behavioural traits eg: tends to be aggressive when handled by strangers etc. We are experienced at handling large dogs with aggressive natures but would like to be advised in advance so that all care can be taken. A small surcharge may be required if dog proves to be extraordinarily difficult. Seems like a nice kennel set up and the woman i spoke to was genuine, but another kennel not suitable for my dog.
  12. Must be a worry living with those bloody things. If i was in your position i would have several sets of relocation tools handy.
  13. Lucky for me ( and the snakes ) i don't have any snake problems in the area i live, but should that ever change i won't lose any sleep over a headless snake.
  14. If I had to make a choice between my dogs safety or the life of a snake, I'm afraid it's off with the snakes head.
  15. I think AMS may have found the perfect kennel for my dog. Sounds very promising on the website. I will visit this kennel this weekend. No appointment necessary for inspections either. Thanks AMS :-)
  16. Nah haven't tried them. Never heard of them until now Thanks. The website is a bit on the thin side for info. Not much effort put into that one.
  17. All but given up. Dog will be happy though.
  18. Redgum Kennels are a no go. Fully booked out from mid December to mid January. However they're not interested in a dog like mine. Said i would be better off to find a kennel with large runs. Back to square one.

  20. No i haven't considered them AMS. I know there is a suitable kennel out there. Finding it is the hard part. I know a Rotty breeder, but again this person can't look after my boy and i won't be asking again. I know i am dreaming to think i'll find a kennel before Christmas, but i still want to find a suitable kennel that allows me to have short holidays now or in the very near future. I'm due for one.
  21. No problems. Just a suitable boarding kennel would be fantastic if i can find one.
  22. Could be worth a try if JH is a local. I'm not after training for my dog. I'm looking for a kennel who can board a problem dog. Thanks. My dog has stayed there in the past, but...hmmm
  23. BPJ thanks for the ideas, but having someone come to my house while I'm away wouldn't work for me. KitKat, have you taken dogs to Redgum before ?
  24. Hi all, I'm after some suggestions or recommendations for boarding kennels who will take on problem dogs. My 9 1/2 year old Rottweiler has fear aggression and doesn't trust people and has a dislike of other dogs when in public. He has never bitten a person or another dog, but has lunged at both several times. He has stayed at a Brisbane based training ctr for a week several years ago, but i'm not keen to take him back there. Do these type of boarding kennels even exist, or am I out of luck ? I'm looking for a kennel where there will be no interaction with other dogs and as limited human contact as possible to be on the safe side. I do have one possible lead i will follow up, but nothing suitable as yet. Anywhere in the Brisbane,Gold Coast and surrounding areas.
