  1. Thanks rep. We have an appointment next week at Animal Options. If they can't help, i'll try your suggestion. She's not good at the moment. I can even see it in her eye's and I'm quite worried about her. I'm not sure if i should go back to the local vet and ask for more of the pain killer tablets.
  2. How sweet of you! What a kind thing to do. Yes it was a very generous offer, but one i couldn't accept.
  3. He sounds good. I'm taking my dog to Animal Options next week. If they can't help, i'll try your guy.
  4. HESA, how did Skye go with Rowan today ? Still worth the wait and drive ?
  5. Thanks Rottifan, but i'll see what Animal Options has to say before i start trying anything else. If i don't have any luck with Rowan Kilmarten, i'll PM for the details of the guy you use.
  6. Such a generous offer from you. I really couldn't accept it i don't think. Thank you so much for the offer. I just hope my old girl get's some pain relief with this course of tablets. It's difficult to see her how she is at the moment. It make's my blood boil when vets like QVS won't treat a dog in pain simply because i don't have a referral. I just hope Animal Options have some ideas on how to help her. I'm not after a miracle, just some relief and help for my dog.
  7. My old girl was quite bad this morning. QVS at West Chermside refused to see her without a referral. Wankers :D Poor girl couldn't stand or walk, but that's too bad as it would appear. I bit my tongue when someone in here suggested them. I was hesitant to see them based on an experience with them about 5 years ago, but as i considered her condition this morning quite bad, i went there first. I won't make the same mistake again. Drove to Sandgate to the Vet someone else here suggested. They couldn't see her. Eneded up back at original local vet and have a 10 day supply of pain killers. Booked in to see Rowan Kilmarten late this month.
  8. Sounds good elsaone. Rowan is booked out for 3 weeks
  9. Hi wizard, It's a difficult question to ask what are the best pills. What works for one dog, may not have any benefit for another. I've given my old Rotty all different type's of joint guard formulas, Sashs blend, SeaFlex sticks, Osteosupport, in both powder and capsule and i haven't seen any benefit at all.
  10. My vet hasn't discussed anything about the condition apart from saying to get some weight off her. I thought the vet was quite good until this problem came along.
  11. The vet hasn't given her any injections ever for it from memory. Only tablets to use on her "bad" days. I've tried Sashas blend, SeaFlex sticks, Osteosupport capsules and other type's of Fish oil and glucosamine ?? tablets. Nothing really seems to have any benefit. She also has fatty lipomas. She's had some removed in the past and at the moment has a large one on the elbow joint, which i think could be making the problem worse, but the vet doesn't see any need to remove it. Her feet also now appear to be splayed out. In the past i've had X-rays done and the results showed her hips are excellent. The vet has also said her back is good. Problem is i don't think the vet is looking for any ways to help the problem, more just saying that's life To me that's not good enough. I had similar issue's with my previous Rotty who passed away in 2007 ( who was this girls mother ) and the vet i took her to had her on a daily pain relief capsules. I hate seeing her in the same position all day and night, not wanting to get up.
  12. What have you done to help with the condition ??
  13. AMS i don't think it's an emergency at this stage, but there is a problem that i need a 2nd opinion on. She has problems with her front leg joint, but over the past two days it goes become worse. ( That's what i assume the problem is ) She had a check up a couple weeks ago, but i'm not happy with the solutions the vet has given me to help her day to day life. She also has a large growth on the same leg, which i'm told does not need to be removed. I asked about a blood test to check out other things and was told she doesn't need it. But she now can't or doesn't want to get up and walk around. She's unstable on the tile's, but is eating/drinking as per normal.
  14. Thanks for the answers. I'm not sure who to pick. My Rotty girl has been in the same spot since last night. I've only just got her up to feed her. She's a bit unstable on her feet and isn't walking in a straight line. She also is having trouble with her grip on the tile's. ETA I had to help her get up. She couldn't or wouldn't do it on her own.
  15. I'm concerned about a couple problems my old Rotty girl has and i want to find another vet for a 2nd opinion / check up. I'm not happy with with her current vets solution to her problems and they've just become worse over the last two days. I don't care what they charge, i just want to take her to someone who will give her a full, genuine check up / test and show a bit more concern, not just relate her problems to old age. Northside of Brisbane would be ideal, but would be willing to travel.
  16. Shocking. I'd like to drown the owner.
  17. I don't think it's so much 'showering with your dog' as it is 'washing the dog in the shower'. In my case, I've washed both dogs in the shower (and yes, learnt to do them seperately ). Both my dogs love the shower, I don't see it as weird or shocking BTW: they were washed on the weekend.............outside under the hose. I'm lucky that they love that, too I still find it weird that people would wash their dogs in the shower but what one does in their own house....
  18. I'm surprised ( shocked even ) how many people shower with their dog. I've never heard of anyone doing that. Maybe they've just never admitted to doing it.
  19. What does your vet do for the dogs check up Huski ? I'm asking because i'm taking my old girl in for a check up tomorrow and i'd like to compare what's done. Do you get your dogs a blood test ?
  20. No. I'm not thinking about owning either. Having a friendly argument with someone who just got a Husky pup and thinks that because they've owned Sams that it will be a walk in the park owning/training one. What Huski and Miss B said was along the line's i was thinking and expecting. Thanks guys. ETA.. and whiskedaway
  21. Can any Husky owners tell me if it is a difficult breed to own and train ? and am i right in saying the Husky has a very high prey drive by nature ? Another point, could one say the training required for a Husky is more involved and important compared to owning/training a Samoyed ? Thanks.
  22. TeamWork were training at Caboolture on Sunday mornings. You could check their website.
  23. What a tricky situation. I didn't even know pugs shed much hair at all. I really know bugger all about dogs
  24. Bit OT, but ...... A monkey entered a home in Malaysia, grabbed a baby and took it to the rooftop. At some point took a couple bite's and dropped it off the rooftop. http://au.news.yahoo.com/queensland/a/-/wo...-snatch-attack/
  25. Bow Wow suck IMO. Both my dogs have insurance with them and i'm not happy.
