I think it also takes longer for mum's milk to come in and come in well if there are only 1 or 2 babies. I feel that the more there are the more milk there will be! Supply and demand... Edited to add - really please that things are improving

So sorry to hear this... we have lost a few this way even though I stay with them every night. The problem is that if they are squashed there are no sounds for you to jump up to and check. I lost my one and only precious tan and white girl through being squashed by her mum, her sister was under with her and she was fine............ :-(

Congrat on your 9! Our girl had 9 and it did take a couple of days for her milk to come in - but not a problem from there on. I actually bought milk powder and ended up supplementing 3 girls once in the first night, 1 of the boys the second day and that was it! :D

One of my pet people, when they picked their puppy up brought a Beagle Diary. Their daughter had seen it and said they had to get it for me. :-) They also brought a bag of treats for Chloe, their pups mum.....

Came out this morning and there's lots of little faces looking at me - with their eyes open!! And......royal blue boy looking at me from......................outside the whelping box!!! They are only 2 weeks old today! Cleaned them out, put him back, gave Teagan breakfast and she objected when Rblue boy came out to join her..... Little bugger....

Have had good weight gains. Have noooo idea what they weighed when they were born but did a weigh-in on Saturday when I put their collars on just did another weigh-in tonight so..... They are very different and super cute LOTG! What I did when I had my schnauzer was to just turn the hair dryer on intermitently so that she got used to it. I then used just a no rinse shampoo spray and did the dryer afterwards. I also used the shaver with the top on all over her so she got used to the sound and the vibration - although you probably know all this... :D
