  1. sorry can't hang around today took a family portrait this afternoon ... Texas took up position leaning against the corner of the house, I took a few shots thinking it looked like a nice setting, then added Chester took another few shots but felt there was a gap in the middle so added Jamie to complete the pic
  2. Can't help you with the snow, it doesn't do that often with being on the coast. All I can do is wet and miserable instead!! oh well ... wet and miserable will have to do I'm guessing too cold to be out on the beach either actually that wasn't meant to be a question ... more of a statement that they were nose-to-nose (melted together sorta ... who's nose is who's) Setters are beautiful dogs, and Bondy is a pointer ... enough said
  3. thanks all for the comments poocow - lovely standard at the park, I love the part in his tail as he runs in the wind ;) and today's at the park too, fun! itlby - still loving your macro shots! and I love your titles too! I'm hopeless with titles Magnus and Maggie are both beautiful dogs, great shots! poodlemum - you still got a pink poo or is that a re-do? I love it! and great action pics of them playing together tlc - gorgeous - especially the first one, just beautiful! Jag - Zippa has some character! :D becks - I was just thinking yesterday what a shame it was that we only had the Aussie's in on this ... I want to see some snow! Interesting water fountain - "new Victorian" - wouldn't that be a contradiction? Looks more like Tsarist Russian to me Do take another shot when the water is flowing persephone - nice camping collage ravyk - cool friend in b&w, and nice clear birdy pics, I particularly like the first oo and itlby's been out (or in as the case may be) taking birdy pics too they look pretty clear to me, like the first one best montall - glad to have another on board. I'm not sure what the look on that buddah's face is? sad? mean? evil? sly? definitely not smiling huga - nice pic of pug :D wow rocco your sister actually looks like a doll (mannequin) in that first shot especially ... and the dress ;) ... certainly stands out - even in black and white! I keep meaning to ask, do you ask your sister to pose in a particular way, like "turn you head to the left a little" or is it just natural? blab - love the last kitty pic :D ... what breed is he/she? ruffles - I'm sure no-one will mind you popping in and posting when you can ... sorry to hear things are crap lea - who's nose? look forward to your holiday pics ash -------- yesterday's tree wasn't that high - had another visit with the 50mm today, thought I would get some perspective ... he jumped it a few times - actually no less than 10 times - work it boy! ... and he popped both paws on it and looked up ... then hopped up on it fully again, with a great deal of encouragement from me ;) ... just so I could get a better shot GOOD BOY and lotsa treats - he wasn't working for nothing but now I've decided to go with a plain old retrieving the stick shot, 'cause he is really enjoying it :D (actually this probably formed part of his reward for jumping over that tree branch so many times) :D
  4. sorry if I miss anyone, I'm feeling a little vague I love checking all the pics  helen - totally lovely, I like the 2nd one especially terranik - yummo pasta dish, poor Jedi does look rather embarrassed - good idea though ... your dogs look so happy in today's pic :D bindi-boo - good work on the bee classic rocco love the pearls on him :D park pic for me, first time I've taken the 50mm to the park, and I had great difficulty choosing but here's today's pic he had a go at climbing a tree

I really should start an out-takes thread looks like a slug beautiful lighting and colour on the horse, and I like the soft focussed church building as the back-drop too I like the car park lights and horizon colours good one, perfectly titled too  lea - your brother looks great in black and white, and it's a nice expressive shot! thanks for the comments on Chester and my pics may actually get today's up before 10:30pm tonight ... yah!
  7. not real impressed with my shoot today, oh well, here 'tis ...
  8. man, everyone's pics are brilliant! I've so lost my place but I'm loving the sunsets, the dogs, the kids, the flowers and wildlife rocco - I think you're pics are inspirational! Love the "regretful decision" especially the 1st one ripley - those landscape pics are awesome, I really like the lighting and colours, if I'd taken them, I woulda called them perfect tlc - I love your dogs huga - again, the macro shot is really nice jayc - interesting wood eyes MTD - your sunset shot is great, very cool the way the clouds outline the tree-line along the horizon there was more I mean to comment on, but seriously everyone is doing fantastically and I'm loving seeing such interesting views! I've been shooting into the sun again
  9. I've run out of time this evening, will catch up tomorrow on everyone's pics. So this is a real quick "happy pic" of Chester by my finally fixed pool (the filter wasn't working until yesterday) in some finally summer-like weather here in Melb
  10. popsicle - I love the way you've made your rose glow, the yellow one, very pretty blab - beauitful kitty pic! and I'm in love with the golden boy (what's his name?) I'm so glad! I must admit by about day 7 or 8 I was starting to wane with my ideas, especially since I haven't been able to get any outside the confines of my house/backyard and the one I did get in the front yard, I was thinking it would be just another Chester pic (from the viewing side of the fence, 'cause of course I love them and him, it's a little different) ... glad to hear you're liking them well there you go, even has a name ;) Ruffles - cool web :D aquaticmalamute - great necklace! PPS - Welcome to day 10 = wow!!! lea - very interesting cow pic, the first one looks like it was taken 100 years ago or something ;) Most likely then - if they went to Fiji and Vanuatu. It arrived in Sydney around 8/9ish this morning. Ask them if they got anything seized from Quarantine ;) You work for Quarantine poocow? Do the beagles work cruise ships in Sydney - I'm due to clear something on Monday name escapes me?? My colleague told me she seized 20 items (fruit) from passengers today working a beagle, not sure which ship or where it was from. Speaking of work - I returned today after having leave, so am struggling to keep up here and not sure I'll get a pic up tonight, might have to do a day behind thingo we'll see how I go Yeah I do work for Quarantine - haven't been there long. Hoping to get into the DDU this year when a vacancy comes up. Beagles work the cruise ships here - they were late today as they got told the wrong time (stupid shipping!) - only 4 seizures (food and a green grass hat). I'm in the shipping/zones section in February and there is a ship coming in every day :D good luck with getting into the DDU - unless you are a real people person, I can highly recommend the Active unit Got my cruise ship tomorrow, gotta get up at 4:30am to get there early, personally I'm no good with passengers, and the beagles work so different to the actives, and I haven't beagle-wrangled for about a year and a half, anyway ... piper - jessi is very cute chewing her bone, love her little short muzzle huga - I love your pics so far, very creative and nicely themed! iltby - fantastic macros! and that shot you've titled "Intricate" is very impressive, I love it!! piper - much better frisbee pics than I've ever managed, though it probably doesn't help that I don't have someone to throw - I tried to get my mum to do it once, and she can't throw a ball in a general straight line, let alone be able to let the frisbee fly JAG - cool golf pic - what's not right about it exactly? lea - gorgeous sunset pic through the fence. I too get trees, roofs, powerlines in the way of any good sunset/rise pics from my house, I keep trying regardless - I so need to get out more Ashanali - Explore which pic was that? persephone - lovely "Summer" pic ... has a great hot feel to it! ruthless - ... and ditto my reply to blab ... oh yeah, and I was about 4 hours late to participate in that flickr game ruthless - you lucky bugger, I heard about the Sydney Festival in The Domain. I also heard that Grace Jones was supposed to be awesome? I really need to see more of Trixie, she is so pretty, and she sounds like a good girl! Gotta admit Chester really knows how to strike a pose, he's getting better at holding them too, except for his odd "head down" (which I taught him to do, but doesn't always work, I think I need to teach a "head up") in mid-shot he holds positions really well through continuous clickety-clicks ;) and he was wagging his tail through this afternoons series gone with a black and white today (not almost) cheers
  11. popsicle - is that an egg in the background too okay, this 1st pic is not my real pic, I just discovered something interesting this morning and had to ask who knew? Own up, who knew if you placed a pink post-it note over your flash that it would tint the picture pink? I'm surprised at this discovery, just didn't even think it! A bit of background - I've read many-a-time do not use an on-camera flash. I needed the extra light without ramping my ISO up too high and I only had a dull overhead light so I used the flash but tried to "bounce" the light as I'd done with a piece of white cardboard successfully as an experiment before. It was pre-6am, no white cardboard in sight and I was in a tizzy about getting myself organised to get to work. I did a quick search of the house for something to use to "bounce" the flash light. The best thing I could find was a pink post-it note, which I stuck infront of the flash then shot away. The results were something I hadn't read or heard about! this one came out a deeper darker pink than a couple of others I shot because I'd turned the overhead light off and was only using the ensuite and walk-in robe lights behind me (other than the flash of course). No saturation, colour or contrast adjustments were made, but I did brighten it a little "Chester gets to sleep in while I get ready for work" and this is the real one, just a quick shot I took this afternoon
  12. Most likely then - if they went to Fiji and Vanuatu. It arrived in Sydney around 8/9ish this morning. Ask them if they got anything seized from Quarantine You work for Quarantine poocow? Do the beagles work cruise ships in Sydney - I'm due to clear something on Monday name escapes me?? Speaking of work - I returned today after having leave, so am struggling to keep up here and not sure I'll get a pic up tonight, might have to do a day behind thingo we'll see how I go Thanks for the nice comments about my Chester brat boy and pics ripley - the colours on the baby lorikeet are brilliant clover - your fish are very colourful too! colour colour everywhere PPS - I like your old building shot a lot JAG - cool giraffe, how'd you get the shadow pink? rocco - love your bathroom pics, really nice, I agree retro is working for you kja - will miss you, but you'll have too much fun to miss us ruthless - great news about your camera, can't wait to see your results persephone - I've always loved Hamlet, love his colouring, now I know why you rarely post pics - camera shy boy but so pretty kirislin - nice bokeh (that's the first time I've used that word ... but it seems to be the "in" word to use ;) ) terranik - I really love that one of Ashoka and Jedi on the couch It shows a lot of spunk and character and fun! such diversity in this thread it really is a joy
  13. tokkie - the first pixie is very nice and what dedication getting out of bed lea - love your 2nd cat pic. itlby - brilliant! both are, but as others the 2nd really seems to have something rocco - ah love it! "almost black and white"
  14. I find this most noticeable when I have it set to "one stop" (AF - auto focus) as opposed to "ai focus" or "ai servo"
  15. playing fetch in the hallway I'm in love with everyone's dogs and the odd cat too ash - your puppy made me literally laugh out loud bindi-boo - I love your flowers pic! ruffles - I agree with bindi, I wouldn't worry about the angle of the fence, it doesn't detract from the pic the way some crocked lines can  in fact, you could even angle it a little further so you're looking down the fence
  16. is that an orchid? what kind? I'm reading "The Orchid Thief" atm and I had to search for more pics online (specifically the ghost) to see what the obsession is all about, very interesting book - lucky I'm a black thumb or I might be tempted, saw the movie a few years ago "Adaptation" - it's quite different rocco - love it! itlby - the 2nd milkshake works for me lea - rather mesmerizing spotty - I was hoping Mia would make an appearance I'm loving this thread, love the diversity of everyone's pics I think I'm in trouble for today, just downloading 708 pics ;) just stupid ... stupid stupid stupid! It'll be a relief to go back to work

JAG - love the first water shot - brilliant itlby - nice tongue clover - nice eyes on Vada coolibah - that doggy in play bow position is brilliant PPS - love the muted tones on the old railway station
  18. Clover - that is a gorgeous pic of Harri lea - thanks, I've got this thing for a nice rippley nose at the moment Today, I went a little shadow mad, and this was one of the not-so-out-there results "standing on my shadow"

  20. way too many for me to choose from today, none that really stand out either can't go past a good nose though
  21. thanks for the nice comments on my pics ;) I started with a Lightroom preset - "Aged photo" I think, but I never leave it as is, can't remember exactly, but I usually change the white-balance, some other lighting and stuff ... how specific ... sorry piper - love the peaches - if they were in Jamie jumping range they would have been gobbled for sure poocow - I like the 2nd superdog pic - love the way you can see his tag, his go-go bound, and that right (his left) ear is so sweet magthedag - what is that pink dog? it's pretty cute ... I like the little white paint spots ;) kja - love the look on Dora's face.- Matildalily looks like she's laughing at her ... literally rolling on the floor laughing at her and Dora ain't too impressed ripley - lovely landscape pics, I really like those! coolibah - beautiful colour in the sunset blab - cool bed! ruthless - love the last one - I'm into that sort of tonal changes at the moment so it really appeals to me kirislin - fantastic pic! I love it!
  22. pointeeblab - what a cute little pup you have, scooby-snacks pic is too funny pps - good idea about only taking 10 and getting them right - I should try something like that, but every single time I say "no more!" I just can't seem to help myself ;) I used to worry about whether people like my arty-farty type of pics, and only recently given up worrying because I like them and I enjoy doing it and not everyone is going to like your pics regardless ash - those chairs are gorgeous! clover - nice silhouette, love the blue in the sky and the fuzzy clouds rocco - lovely feel to both pics here's my contribution for today - "the ball no-one wants to play with - unless you put a bit of a schmacko inside"
  23. yeh but I'm going through a "story-telling over technically correct" phase at the moment - I'm trying to avoid being too pretty and perfect, if you knew me you'd understand that's so typical! If I could get the story-telling and technically correct to go together, I'll be where I want to be ... and sometimes I miss the point entirely I appreciate the feedback terranik - I love what you did with the building pic kirislin - brilliant bird on a wire ash - very impressive view, great post-production - the water is like steel and the boats look like they aren't floating but rather placed on the surface iykwim :D pps - I agree that your playful interrupter is a nice addition :D animalmad - real bummer about your memory card, your dog is a good poser though and there to save the day oh and I too have enjoyed a little flick through flickr streams
