If it is localised demodec then it will cure itself as it is a self limiting problem....it's only when it is generalised demodex (usually more then 5 spots) that you need to look at other avenues. Also Advocate are advertising that their once monthly topical application will take care of demodex mite...and so far from what i have seen with my dog this is correct. EFS

House Training - Positive Vs Negative Approach
KitKat replied to missymac's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I was happy with my pup...within two weeks he was barking to let me know it was time to go outside Unfortunately the only times we made mistakes was when were at a friends place but he didn't have the full idea at that point though. Now however he will go for hours without going to the toilet and will wait till we get home. -
House Training - Positive Vs Negative Approach

Simple....use the 'friend' excuse "My friend got a new puppy a little while ago, the pup was housetrained in no time...but they did it this other way...blah blah blah" Well...with all advice..it's up to the listener to take it on board or not -
House Training - Positive Vs Negative Approach

This just doesn't work....if the dog learns not to pee and poop inside it's because they've work it out another way...all the dog learns from this is to be careful of grabbing hands IMO. Positive is the only way to go with housetraining...be observant and consistant. exactly That's when you go "Oh...i the way I did it was blah blah blah...and my dog Fluffy picked it up really quickly" -
I don't find them too irritating if that's anything...lol...they aren't quite as loud or as harsh as the metal frog clickers. As to if it's worth your while...well...it's up to you really. Have a look around on the site i linked on the front page and have a read then decide...it's really a personal choice. Clickers themselves are always available one way or another...it's just that i'm managing to get some cheap so i thought i'd offer the opportunity to others (which makes it cheaper for all )

My older dog is fine with the backpack...but my young GSD doesn't think much of it at all:laugh:
-
I've only had a quick look but all postage should be the same...so about the $2.00 mark - this may be covered by the $4.00 original costing i put up...i'll know as soon as i order and get the bill
-
hehehe...you can always get your dog a backpack...i did

Yes your pup is a female. The "weird penis looking stumpy thing" is her genitalia sometimes referred to as 'bits' or 'girly bits'. If you see other female dog 'bits' they will be much the same...though some seem to have more of an inny or an outy like belly buttons as from what i have seen. (pls note...i don't go around perving on dogs 'bits' ) Also the 'bits' get really spongy, big and noticible when the dog goes into season...they shrink again once they have finished their season but don't seem to shrink back to pre-puberty size...but if you get her desexed before she does go into season her 'bits' should stay quite smallish.

Yup...done....ok i have everyone who as so far posted or PM'd as listed and i will be ordering the 75 clickers instead of 50 ETA - Tess32 - I'm getting 5 as well...one in the car, one in the dog bag, one in my purse, one in the house, one specifically for when we go to training...lol, perhaps i should get more then 5?
-
seems as good a reason as any
-
Ok...just shy of the 50 mark now so if anyone else really wants a couple let me know as i'm tempted to order 75 (unfortunately they don't get any cheaper after 50..lol). I've listed everyone in order of 'first in first served' so when the clickers come in people will get their pick of colours as i go down the list As to bank details...i have to find out what the go is there so i can make it as easy as possbile for everyone But i'll let people know the details once i've made the order etc.

Yeah my Bronx is just starting to have his fur grow back over the couple of patches now....i just used vasoline when the area started to look a bit dry and have been using advocate....
-
Cool!!! i have to pay off a few things first but i should be ready to go in a month or two...but i'm going to email them for info on the tracking training as they didn't have any dates up last time i checked...perhaps if we can get enough people interested we can get our own 'training course' and a discount if we word it right!
-
Just to update...everyone who has noted here for clickers has been added to my list Thanks all
-
Damn right i want postage from you ML....i'll take three puppy hugs from Kara, two smoochs from Molly and a cuddle from any rescue BC's you have at the time Edited to take out quote...lol
-
I did think about it...but i'm not a trainer for starters..lol...but the order as it stands will be under $1.00USD per clicker...plus postage. I'm not sure BlackDog will do that for me...and i was told that BlackDog gets their i-clicks from the same place...just puts their name on them (could easily be wrong ) I've 'over-guestimated' (i assume lol) the cost per clicker so that the prices should come under....so when they come in i can go "Thanks that is $2.50 per clicker (or whatever), isn't that great" rather then "I'm sorry...they ended up being more then expected...do you still want them?"
-
Aawww ML..i was going to charge all the postage to you! makes it cheaper for the rest of us!!! To set you at ease ...i'll not be making anything on these things unless i sell some in EBay
-
Yes..in fact they should take to it very quickly The clicker is used to mark the correct behaviour...but i will leave this up to someone else or i'll find a better explanation in another thread and copy and paste it as i'm crap at explainnig things especially on paper Ok..this might help, this is from Karen Pryor's site which gave a link to earlier Does that help? (i only did a quick seach is all) they give a good strong sound...perhaps not across the field type loud but people train agility and such them them as well...so shey should be loud enough for what you want?
-
Yup...got you down for that Mel Ooo...before i forget...i have got this down as a first in first serve basis...everyone is on my list in order of when they let me know If i get to 30 and people still want some i'll order the 50 and i'll let people know when it's all over for ordering ;) PS...if peeps can say how many they want by number if possible...eg 2 or 3 or 6 etc that would be fantastic and would allow me to keep a more accurate log thanks
-
Glad to have you back K9Force
-
Hehehe....that's why i am getting myself a handful of them...i own about three clickers now i think...but i only know where one is!
-
Thanks for that I had a look (and will be adding them to my favs list!) but they only have the normal style clickers...though at a very very good price ;) The I-clicks have a button to press rather then an indent thingo...so figured that might be easier to click no matter what me and my dog/s are doing ETA - The prices i have seen so far for the I-Clicks here in Aus is about $8.00 + pstage I just realised that if worse comes to worse and no one wants any i'll sell the extra's on EBay

I'm looking to place an order next week to buy a bundle of clickers from the US...now I'm going to be buying a handful for myself and a couple for friends so i will be placing an order for 30 of the clickers (as that is the minimum bulk order). Because of that i will have a number that will need to be rehomed So...I just thought i'd ask here if anyone else is interested in having one, or a few. I can't find out exactly how much postage and handling etc is going to cost but at a guestimate I'm working on the clickers being about $4.00 each (plus postage to get it to you)...if the price comes in under that then the price will drop. (I thought it's better to work to the higher estimate price then if/when is comes under that then we all get a nice surprise ) Also if i get a more people expected interested i'll look at getting the next larger 'bulk' amount (50), doing so may even drop the price further. At the moment i am just after numbers so i know which lot to order, other details will be worked out when i have an exact price to let people know the go. So either pm me with how many you would like or just post to this thread and i'll keep a log and confirm numbers when the clickers arrive i-click info Thanks all ;) - I have received permission from Troy to post this
