  1. I think i am infected with this virus as well :rofl:l
  2. Lots of johnsons baby shampoo lathered in will get the oil out... In fact...if you put the oil in pop the dog somewhere warm, say nice sunny spot as you work out the matts...the dog will get a hot oil treatment as well as getting his coat sorted... :D
  3. I was chatting to a vet nurse the other day and asked about vaccinations, she said their vet only offered C7 for adult dogs as he didn't think anything less was up to standard. They are also going to do the once every 3 year option with the vacc's as they do in the US once it's approved here in Aus. So that has got me leaning towards them as well, but i'm just curious as to others opinions of the C7 Vacc. It has been available for the last 3 years in Aus apparently...but none of the vets i have been to have even mentioned it, only offering C3's, C4's and C5's with no mention of any others.
  4. Ok...i got my sample last night and they are only thin little kibble but they smell ok and i was giving them to my dogs last night as treats and they seemed quite happy with them, and they seemed to be a bit crunchy going by the sounds the dogs were making as they ate them..lol. So...in the next 1-2 months i'll be taking one of the dogs in for his yearly injection and i might pick up a bag/box of the stuff and give it a go
  5. I've got a sample pack winging it's way to me and should be at my place by the time i get home At the moment i'm tossing between this and eagle pack as my suppliment kibble... :p
  6. ;) I was refraining from telling stories about Harm's beach days so that i didn't gross people out :D but if you insist.... My older boy doesn't go to the beach anymore...only because he isn't socially assseptable He loves the waves but tends to bite the tops off them...this causes him to take in a hell of a lot of water...and i mean he inflates and looks like a barrel! No long after he will then start huring his guts up and what doesn't go up...goes down and becomes an icky mess at every step he takes! Litterally the walk back to the car is almost jet powered! luckily enough he does seem to get rid of all the water before hitting the car but yuo can hear his belly and system gurgling as his system tries to rid itself of all the water Poor darling...and he has such an embarressed look on his face...until all the water is gone and then he jsut wants to have another crack at it. After several trips to the beach he still hasn't realised that if he keeps eating the water he's gonna get crook...and very very messy! (which is gross as it's impossible to pick up and people do actualyl swim in the water!)
  7. The SouthBank Convention Centre in Brisbane might be worth checking as a venue...they hold the Pet and Animal Expo there. Also the Ekka grounds might be worth looking into...but i'm not sure you you'd need to talk to about making use of them.
  8. I ate a piece of Royal Canin dog kibble on a dare...it tasted a lot like vegemite
  9. the link in my first post is to the Priceless pets info/site...it's where i first came across this brand so i thought i'd ask if any here had used it....the company seems to be based in WA
  10. Innana - it does appear to be a different 'brand' from the US one...on the Aussie site (listed earlier) it seems as if this one has been developed within Aus.... From the site..
  11. The following are the ingredients for four of the leading dry dog foods.... ETA - this is the ingredients for the brand i am asking about... ETA - another premuim band dog food..so i could make a comparison more then anything else
  12. Did the shop happen to have a Purple Front with huge dog paws , and be near Frankston ???? .. Ash... Em&Taco are in QLD...so it's not that particular store
  13. It's as much a matter of what works for the dog...some dogs like it and do well on it, others don't...as with all kibble really. At least you now know not to buy Hills for your mob as they don't appreciate it
  14. Natural Balance site I managed to find a website...
  15. Natural Balance I'm just curious as to if anyone else has used this food or heard of it even? I did a search the other day and got some info but i'm curious to see if anyone has used/seen it...If it is what it says it is then it could be pretty good stuff...but rather then buy 15kgs and discover it's average...etc etc
  16. I think all dogs have them on the front paws but not all have them on the back paws. If they are nice and close 'fitting' on the front then they shouldn't prove a problem. But when they are on the back they often stick out a bit or are all floppy (not all are joined by bone) and can catch on the other leg when running, playing etc. Some breeds even have double sets i believe
  17. Basically it's like a 'thumb' they have them on their front paws and sometimes dogs will have them on their back paws. It's away from the actuall paw pads and up the foot a touch...if that makes sense... If they are nice and close at the front it's usually ok for them to stay but i would recommend that they be removed off the back paws for GSD's.
  18. My boy needed his collar due to read dew claws being removed as well...and it seemed like a good thing...mind you with his long GSD snout he discovered if he stuck his back legs out just right he could reach the stiches on his feet but they have healed up nciely and he doesn't have any scarring so it's all good.
  19. I had a few days off after Bronx was desexed and kept him crated with pee breaks etc after a handful of days he was going nuts so i stuck an elisabethian collar on him and put him outside he was fine. I wouldn't bother about sedating Bear for a few days...it could prove of a hassle then it's worth. Just make sure you grab an elisabethian collar on the way out Vehs- thanks! that's the word i was looking for!!! Alibear...it's just as likely that it will cost more for a vasectomy then a normal desexing asyou'll have to find a vet willing to do it. There would be stitches at the sac after both op's so recovery would be much the same. If you go the vasectomy you don't get the benefits of normal desexing...like less smelly pee, let marking everything, less dominant behavour, less hunting down bitches in season, less wandering to look for bitches in general (lol), etc etc
  20. Male dogs can get the 'snip' and more or less just have their bits tied...or they can have the testes fully removed. For a full desexing all they remove is the testes out of the sac and the sac shrinks away to almost nothing. If you go the other way and i can't for the life of me remember the exact name of the op is when they go in and tie off the tubes from the testes...this leaves the dog with his balls but they acn't do much with them...eg help create puppies. Not all vets will do this op whereas all will do a full desexing. I'd go a full desexing as the the old comment describes "sticks out like dogs balls" adn since i'm not breeding my dogs..they had to go as it's not a pretty sight
  21. I'll be able to put up some flyers at my big petshop...they even have a handful of KP's clickers available Some of the staff from the petshop would probably also like to attend...
