Non fading red genes in poodles
Dogsfevr replied to Rufus the Poodle's topic in General Dog Discussion
Colour shampoos do very little . Dying a red /apricot Poodle would require an owner who should be voted Best hairdresser in the world . For other colours its simply a case of looking at pedigrees & seeing what is behind the dog . Once you start diluting the colours then it can affect it greatly BUT you also shouldnt bred for colour to sacrifice more important things . Depending on countries Red/Apricots & blue just dont have a good gene pool of stellar dogs that are suitable for breeding or the ability to be bred on with . In Europe the ability to find a wider gene pool for red/apricots is very strong -
Non fading red genes in poodles
Dogsfevr replied to Rufus the Poodle's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would consider the quality of the colour in the lines plays a bigger factor . Coat change through the ages will potentially vary the colour at the time . The same applies to a black thats not bred well colour wise & a blue . In Europe for example Poodles are shown in colour like Schnauzers .Thus the breeding for a good colour is a different to say Australia where colour may be more limited . In Australia we dont see the Good Black n Silver Schnauzer colouring we did in the 80/90's. The colour now is often what we call muddy & not marked well. The silver not silver & the black a poor black as often salt & pepper is in the pedigree. I see so many pups on facebook listed by some breeders as B/S but blind Freddy can see its not a strong B/S especially when the ears have S/P colouring Spaying can affect coat texture & colour . A good apricot colour is far and few these days & especially one with correct coat texture . -
At 9 yeasr i doubt you ll get any benefits for many things that will be pre existing plus the waiting period . Better as mentioned to put money into a seperate account & the money will always be there if the worse scenario happens with your dog . I do insure my youngsters up to 15 months then dont bother unless a real issue means keep it . I have a great vet with a great common sense approach & old fashioned mindset . Avoid chain vets, look at what your feeding ,how many meals Old dogs like people often do better on smaller multi meals & fat level appropriate . depending what the outcome was of that $500 it may not be an expensive bill but if you leanrt something to change from it a cheap bill still. Older dogs come with vet bills

What ownership. Microchip? Papers- which organiization.?

i would not give it for this area. And actrually dont presume vets will just give it . We have a few boarding clients who come in with it for thunderstorm fear & fireworks but it isnt handed out like lollies & the dogs need to be watched especially if access outside is allowed & the weather is an issue . If the dog has true sep anxiety then get the right drugs & the sooner the better so the brain can start thinking more logically whilst the reshaping process is happening . A barking dog is not fun & the dog may also be doing self harm behaviour whilst their out so its can manifest quickly .

I would suggest joining behavioural groups on facebook & asking ,most people frequenting here wouldnt be doing those courses but if its industry based for a career ask where it matters .

Diet is ideal for "pushing " the glands but some dogs need them emptying . The hair could be sticking it his bum too

He said she said which is why no sides should be taken & proof by BOTH parties . But a breeder if their contract is there does not have to refund asap & can take expenses out if need be & the balance returned & again proof required . The breeder in the OP words offered a solution ,A new pup & has said return of money on sale which again makes it obvious the OP didnt hand the pup back to see if it would eat as thats not something one would discuss unless returning the dog . OP in there schedule didnt have pup vaccinated with her Day 5 vet no mention of vaccination . Im gathering the pup stayed longer with the breeder & required its vaccination irrespective

No one can answer as it requires both sides story . You would need to contact the body that deals with goods & services issues in your state . As for being $1800 out of pocket i would suggest thats not an accurate amount on necessary requirements & your would have to prove all costs if that topic is brought up .I mean no puppy needs 4 outfits & i truly hope you werent dressing this pup up in the 7 days you had it as that would totally overwhelm any new puppy settling in to a new home & routine No way would 7 days get to that amount . Generally speaking a breeder may not offer a full refund that would be based on their sales contract but in this situation we wouldnt straight away & the reason why . You are returning a dog that for all intents & purposes hasnt eaten for 7 days so would require a vet consult irrespective if you have been to a vet. Once a vet report was done a copy would be sent to the current owner I think based on your heading & the fact you state you returned all the items the breeder would be under the impression you no longer want the dog ,that is how i read the post & then you decided to change your mind ,if not this reads total confusion & i understand why the breeder has decided moving forward what is in the dogs best interest based on i gather many messages . Before even considering rehoming the dog it would need from the breeder a full vet check ,the dog may require retraining . Im not taking sides But puppies have been returned to breeders in not the same condition it left even after a week. Breeders may then refund what expenses have been taken out & again the breeder would have to prove they are necessary . I would likely say posting all the details on here is not the smartest thing to do especially as the breeder most likely will have been informed & made a copy so anything posted here would be part of any claim if you went down that path .

New. Member of my states peak body. Now what?
Dogsfevr replied to AngelicEwe's topic in General Dog Discussion
Your Sate bodies website is full of information . You will get your journal & you start entering shows . Highly recommend doing some handling classes & going to watch shows & your breeder should have informed all about this -
A dog shouldnt suffer to appease our emotions or inability to to give it its wings & the gift of dignity & no longer suffering .

Well you would need to contact Dapple breeders of the correct colour & hope like hell its not a double dapple breeding . As many who breed solely for Dapples often forgo many important requirements then you would need to do your homework. I very much doubt your going to find such an ethical breeding just asking in a forum

Im going to be that person who says i dont particularly value a vets knowledge on pedigrees & breeding as most know except from what comes out of a book have no great knowledge to hand over . Vets have no idea who individual dogs are in pedigrees or what value ,faults they contribute .No vet unless an amazing breeder will give "special " knowledge they dont actually know themselves & i can safely say as someone who has used repo vets not one of them has knowledge on my dogs pedigrees . Being a repo vet doesnt equate to knowing about breeding . Im going to say GOOD Breeders are who the vets contact to learn from . Over the years even as a breeder & having buyers contact us regarding some total rubbish their vet has told them you will find many in the know have the same thing . Vet doesnt equate to a ethical/moral breeder . Infact in my breed the worse puppy farmers are vets . But im going to say this post screams No knowledge what so ever & red flags plus a whole lot of nothing plus the biggest red flag when someone claims so much knowledge & supposedly had litters and not knowing the correct name of a breed .

Pro heart heartworm Injection side effects
Dogsfevr replied to Kazm's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We Titer test our adults & would never ever give a 12 month injection for Heartworm . We dont treat for heartworm anyway but i appreciate different areas are higher risk . -
Parvovirus Symptoms in Dogs and Prevention Tips
Dogsfevr replied to Oliva Smith's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Unless your going to disinfect EVERY item you took out its a waste of time . Taking shoes off okay maybe BUT never done it in near 40 yrs of owning dogs. You would then need to dunk your bags, car tyres etc etc . Preventation vaccinate or titer test . Most people wait too long to seek a vet for parvo so dog dies before treatment or it has progressed to far . The smell alone is enough for parvo when you have experienced it . I can safely tell the difference between parvo & say colitis but parvo is its own special thing . Coomon sense but you cant bubble wrap everything -
I need advice for my female Pitbull with Epilepsy attack!

All dogs will be different like people . Has her Thyroid levels been checked as that can cause seizure issues . The other obvious is the seizures may be a result of something more in the brain especially if things are changing -
How long is the gap ?? One of the biggest issue creators is when people take the pup to work & dont teach it self independence at home & then all of a sudden its left home & doesnt know how to cope . Make sure your not going to create confusion to what its next stage routime is going to be especially coming into winter . As to the work set up thats going to be based on the kind of area, ability to get outside to toilet, what its temp is like in coping with a different environment,if it will bark etc . But obviously a puppy pen to allow it safe freedom ,toys to amuse itself

Whats the recommended breeding shedule for a bitch ?
Dogsfevr replied to jjj8's topic in General Dog Discussion
Your replying to so many old posts & the above answers arent correct if they belong to an org & The State laws Some states have breeding age restrictions it may be advisable to learn more -
Breeder advertising purebred, pedigree poodles, DNA clear. Then breeder admits in writing not DNA clear they got 2 pedigreed dogs without papers for breeding and 1 on pedigree papers she is breeding with but no evidence of this. False advertising
Dogsfevr replied to HoneyHound's topic in General Dog Discussion
Daco is the SA microchip database that any dog or cat is legally meant to be on & the registered breeder number is listed . Its not a guarantee of anything but meeting the SA requirements . Details easy to check Here is the issue Honeyhound you dont actually know what that detail is so trying to to discuss stuff with this person isn't going to get you anywhere if you don't actually understand what the various things mean yourself . -

For starters DNA tests vary . DogsQLD require parentage testing ,no other state does at present . Not all breeds have mandatory testing to register a litter in DogsAustralia .What other orgs require i have no idea Breeds that must have testing are listed on DogsAustralia such as hips/elbows etc mind you there is no cut off with what a breeding score is . Each State also has State Govt laws so for Example the Govt laws in Victoria is very specific about breeding hereditary issues & that applies to anyone breeding under any org .So anyone breeding in Vic with a breeders License again no matter what org their using has to also meet State govt laws So it would have to be clearly written in this breeders state laws about what is what . It is certainly not listed in the same manner in my State Govt law. Just checked SA State Gov laws on breeding & there not very strict at all just like ours a few lines of blah blah . If they have breached rules then report them if there listed under probation for the RBPA then nothing will be done as i do know of a breeder issue with that org here so they where not upgraded to full So DNA testing is like an open book & what has to be & what doesnt & what a good breeder does . DogsVic is bringing in parentage & some breeds will require DNA results for breeding purposes which is a very interesting can of worms for AI breedings of old semen that may not be fully tested or able to be tested , Orivet has had many failed swabs .Obviously people wouldnt bred with a dog if you didnt have clear by parentage results which PRA can be but again this would be based on the breeder in question & their morals & ethics Again im not taking sides but i cant not read from whats there a black n white answer without asking correct questions & seeing the health results of the grandparents in relation to the sire & dam . I can actually tell you far too many breeders under the varying orgs have no idea how to explain DNA tests results & some think certain panels tests mean all is good & infact havent tested for issues that are important so hence DNA testing is like an Open book & actually reading whats infront of you . I know in my breed some of the breeders where just getting a general panel test which was full of useless stuff but not doing the tests that arent listed in a panel bundle . Alot of breeders in my breed claim PRA clear but thats incorrect as we can only test for sector 1 without the other sector we cant not claim fully PRA clear .They are still researching at the Bakers institue . Laboklin is probaly one of the most advanced testing places that covers many of the issues most dont . So for some breeds orivet doesnt cover every issue as breeders we may have to use 2 diagnostic places even 3 . DNA testing is not that simple so actually asking questions & knowing whats what is a very interesting world What they may have written could be truthful by knowing what the grandparents results are again it would require a correct conversation to know what has or hasnt been tested including hips/elbows which havent been mentioned . -

Where does it say DogsNSW member ?? Maybe i missing that exact wording . It says got her dogs from 2 NSW breeders . They could from any of the various registers . If you can highlight the DogsNSW part it would be great . Again im not supporting anyone just if people are going to do these posts lets make sure its clearly listed -

Rarely does someone join a forum & the first post like this one . I dont take anyones word without proof to back up the he said ,she said . There is always 3 sides to a story his, hers & the truth The posts gets stuff added but no actual facts . Anyone who has dealt with orivet knows the problems Many ethical breeders have had multi failed swabs ,,taking months to get results to even register litters & unable to register their puppies to meet the state laws in their state & having to wait ,retest many opting to send blood know . Qld folk will tell you all about the issues plus many more from around Australia especially as they have to do parentage tests. Dogs Vic is joining the same method & people are panicking over how things will proceed next year We use overseas as do many others including Massey,Animal health diagnostics or Labkolin If both parents of dam & sire where clear then the parents are clear by parentage . Registered breeder can still mean brought from MDBA. No record of this breeder having a pedigree papered breeding poodle. The dogs could have come from a MDBA breeder or the other various registries ( again i dont support the other spin off registries but we can not claim someone doesnt have a registered dog in their name when there are other registries out there whose data base we cant access nor can we even check on the DogsAustralia page who owns a pet dog ,we can check registered litters by prefix . I still dont get the point of the post . The pups are insanely cheap . They belong to a register that are useless if you want to be part of Dogs Australia People will buy what they want . If you want a papered dog go to a breeder that offers what you want If they have broken there state rules dob them in . There are aspevts that can be explained but unless every aspect is there to read not bits & pieces its just another us v them post -

Unless you have the written proof to back it up its you v them still . If you believe there's a breach then report them no point coming on to DOL . At this point your post could have an agenda as its a weird thing to post & you only joined a few days back & this is your first postso its does ring "strange" . And no i dont support them but if your going to bag out anyone one then you need the proof to back your claims up -
What did the vet tell you .I gather you asked? But i would imagine its like the human version where there is a period to wait . Besides the other obvious if he was only spayed last week he should not be allowed to even try mating her with the stitches in & that common sense after surgery protocol is followed

Not sure what the point of your post is ?? There not claiming there DogsNSW members Anyone can buy 2 dogs & breed them. There are various registries out there ,whether we agree with them or not they are legal & recognized There a member of an org that also caters for crossbreeds details of that group clearly listed & easily to research . Breeding is easily allowed & dont understand how people cant grasp the concept as long as they meet there State laws you can be . Stop the Puppy Farming bills dont stop breeding a breeder all clearly written for anyone to read . As to the other aspects not going to comment as its your words not their written word
