  1. Ange, maybe you need to pee on Max from time to time? (sorry, i couldn't help myself, i am bored ) Tried that.....
  2. Ohhh.. Teebs haven't you heard of the latest dog cologne? "Eua de Maxypeepee".. yeah it's awesome smell for poor old Ruby. Yeah he needs to keep his nutty buddies for a while because I would like to title him.. I did ask the breeder about it and she also thought hormones/dominance. He's mostly dominant towards her but never me.. he understands his place in the house and that I am alpha.. He's never peed on me or anyone else. we'll just keep up with the wash's and odour be gone until he settles down.. eck.
  3. My nearly 10 month old entire puppy Max seems to have picked up the habit of peeing on my older 2 yo spayed bitch if she is laying in the sun or on her bed somewhere.. He just walks up to her and without warning she gets a golden shower!! He will also not wait until she has finished peeing and start peeing on her while she is peeing - I know most other dogs generally WAIT until the other dog has finished ad THEN pee but he just will not wait.. I've tried calling him and distracting him as soon as I see him heading over to her to pee which works if I can catch him but most evenings Ruby trots in and you can just smell entire male pee smell on her. She's getting daily wash's and I've got odour be gone stuff which I spray on her coat.. I know it's a dominance thing, but would like it to stop - if I can. It's really not all that pleasant going to snuggle a dog with entire male dog pee all over them!!! I'm hoping he'll grow out of it sooner rather than later but it's been going on for about 2 weeks now and it's driving me batty!!
  4. Thanks for the feedback! Scnauzerboy, that camera looks really good on paper I might have to go and see it how it looks and feels as well.. it is expensive though eep.. didn't realise underwater housing was that expensive.. Yep can rule that one out for the immediate time being. What about a Canon 450D? reasonably priced and the photos I've seen come from this type of camera have been quite good for the standard I'm after.. It seems like it would be a good one to start on for a beginner? And being a Canon would be abe to buy better lenses as I progress I presume.. Most cameras will have a macro feature don't they? I'm not looking to take photos so close I can see the cracks in people skin, just so I can take a close up of certain still objects.. Just a little excited..
  5. I know there are a few topics around which I've had a read but I still don't really know what I need or want.. I want a camera that will take good moving shots (dog/people/etc) as it will do a few dog shows.. probably the most important feature I'm looking for! I also enjoy macro shots.. Do alot of DSLR have underwater housing available? I don't know I'd trust myself to take a fancy pants camera underwater but would perhaps consider the option once I've done more research (have munched through 2x Olympus tough 'waterproof' cameras hence why I don't trust myself as I have a knack of breaking TOUGH cameras....) I currently have an Olympus SP590UZ which is just a fancy point and shoot (26x optical zoom) but I'm still not happy with the quality of photos I get from it.. Pricing wise I can probably go up around $1200 I went to a camera place and they seemed to be pushing ther Sony range, which I've never used that brand and haven't heard that many people using that brand (I think it was the A350 he was really pushing). Canon seem to be a popular choice..? Am also happy buying grey imports from DWI or similar as I bought my current Olympus from there and have been happy with quality and support etc. Anyway sorry for another "which DSLR do I get post" but I am a bit overwhelmed by the choice!!!
  6. That just because they're grey doesn't mean they are called a 'greyhound' neither are they called "weimawhat?" That despite their high energy they are the biggest couch potatoes at home.. ETA: That they come in LH variety and a litter can have both SH's and LH's in the litter. Yep.. a cockroach here too (sorry for nutty buddies being in the shot!)
  7. Prepare to feel isolated yourself.. We were living in Perth and at times it felt pretty isolated! I haven't lived there myself so I don't know about ticks/worms. WA from what I know do not have paralysis tick which is the main one for concern. Bush Ticks are around if you regularly walk your dogs in scrub, although I took my Short Haired dogs on fairly scrubby/coastal walks and never once came accross one!! I think they would get used to the heat as long as you were able to provide them somewhere to get out of it when it was really hot!
  8. :D I had a feeling it was not going to work out.. I guess it's probably better that you send him now rather than in months time. I know some people are suggesting give it more time, but I think you have been questioning his place in the house since he came, so better to get him back on the list for a new forever home sooner rather than later. I think I would suggest that you get a dog later when your kids have grown more, it doesn't sound as though you have much spare time on your hands at the moment with little ones. A 14 month old Wei that has had no training requires an enormous amount of time.. If you are set on the Weimaraner breed I would go for a much older dog that has calmed down some, or perhaps even choose a different breed. If possible spend a bit more time with the dog so that you can see first hand what they are like before bringing them home as well.. good luck. Give Hank a hug for me.
  9. They allow dogs in Orange Botanical Gardens and also Kings Park Botanical garden in Perth. So no, not all gardens won't allow dogs
  10. What colour is his urine?? My bitch had severe issues with blood in her urine as a pup but I mean BLOOD this is what her urine looked like for almost 6 months.. She was never properly diagnosed with an issue apart from 'idiopathic juvenile renal haemorrhaging' which the vets tried using big fancy words instead of saying 'yeah your dog is bleeding from the kidney but we don't know why..' LOL we spent ALOT of money looking for a diagnosis which never came but it ended up resolving itself.. I agree with everyone else, try and get a CLEAN sample of urine and take in to the vet (use a clean soup ladle) and take your pupp to the vets ASAP! Let us know how you go!!
  11. never mind.. just found the answer. No. What a shame..
  12. Can anyone tell me if the Mt Tomah Botanical Gardens in Bilpin allows dogs on leads?? We have family that have asked to meet us there over the weekend and we will have our dog with us, so wanted to know if you were able to take dogs inside.. I have searched online but can't find an answer!!! THANKS!!
  13. Hey everyone long time since I've been in here thought I would update with our progress.. We have moved from WA, back to Orange, central NSW, and we have been hitting a few shows around the country circuit. This weekend was Lithgow and we got our best win to date - a 9 point BOB!! I shed a little tear I was so happy with him. Here is our stacking in group and a moving shot!!! Max is 8 months..
  14. I feed/walk/bathe/lay down the law etc with both of our dogs. I love them both to bits and they both love me but the eldest bitch who is SUCH a bitch, she adores my OH. Will sit and lovingly gaze at him when he is on the couch waiting for the ok to get up to snuggle him - she has never done this to me ever. My boy has only got eyes for me and me only. Dogs are just like people - some you don't get on with and some are your best friends for life. Same deal with dogs I think.
  15. :D I soooo need to go to bed. I thought I read 'My dad' NOT 'my dog'. I was like, wow that's awkward. going now.
  16. I LOVE the security guards face... hil-hairy-arse!!
  17. I guess she might 'let her dogs go' once they retire from the ring? I know I would want my dogs to be ideal weight regardless if they were show dogs or pet dogs. I condition my male to make sre he has enough muscle before going in a ring, but that's not really to do with weight.
  18. Hey ST, you should post that photo of the judge at the Western Classic wearing sheer leggings and a top that only just covered her butt.. LOL
  19. OMG!!! Is that the same woman repeatedly offending eyes in both the pics!!?? I think it would be death by laughter for me if I EVER saw something like that!! I haven't had any wardrobe malfunctions yet.. yet..
  20. My female Wei does this - only because she's spring loaded though and is about to ping away and bounce off walls..
  21. AWESOME NEWS!!!!! Congrats to this stunning boy and what a way to retire - talk about going out in style!! Go gundogs!!
  22. Like someone else mentioned.. I think it depends on your level of education you provide you dog with growing up around birds. IMO almost any dog can be safely brought up around chickens and birds without them wanting to kill them. We used to have aviaries wth a very high prey drive jack russel and I don't think she ever attempted (or had the smarts) to dig underneath the mesh to get to the birds. I think if you have your heart set on a pug a matter of waiting a few months from a good quality breeder who is going to be there for you and your puppy is nothing. Have a look on the DOL pug page and see which breeders have got litters coming up or have puppies now. If you aren't fussy on it being male or female then it also makes it easy for you. Good luck!!
  23. Sorry didn't realise was a double.. Thanks
  24. Can someone tell me which day gundogs are? Thankyou!!!
  25. When we were buying our other camera in March we went to a smaller store to look at them and the owner of the store told us he would no longer stock them due to the amount of returns. We bought it anyway from JB Hi-fi and here it is in December and it no longer works (Just waiting to move before I can send it for repairs). 2 Olympus camera and both busted not even 12 months use out of them has put us off the underwater Olympus range for life..
