  1. Thanks for this Linda. They havent called me back so if I dont hear then DWI it is!
  2. Too many Christmas parties I think I am starting to ramble
  3. Sorry to hear about what happened to your poor dog dreamelicious. Keira&Phoenix put it perfectly. You may be worrying about nothing. I have a staffy and a staffy x and if you moved next door to me you wouldnt have a thing to worry about
  4. lol, must have been the same lovely helpful man I spoke to Yup I understand they have a business to run too and it must be very hard trying to compete with overseas retailers. Good luck I hope you get what you want at a decent price No I was being serious! (Did you think I was being sarcastic?) He was lovely. Spend ages on the phone with me. Gave me the number and name of the manager at JB to speak to as he said earlier they (CR) did get some and sell them to JB cheaper than usual. He told me to say that he 'sent' me and for JB to give him a call if they needed. God, goes that even make sense!?
  5. On the phone to CR Kennedy and they are trying to tell me that they dont match DWI!!! I said but you told my friend Crazy Cresties (just kidding) that you did! Grrr... Hes double checking edited to add - Wow, what a lovely helpful man I spoke to! Anyhoo he directed me to where it says they dont deal with grey imports on their site. Fair enough, I understand. He has put me onto someone at JB Cameras here in Melbourne who is coming back to me with a price. Whilst it sucks they cant do it I do understand that they are running a business
  6. Yep thats right Kirislin. Thanks for looking. Hey CC I did get your PM thankyou! Going to buzz them now. Sorry I have asked so many bloody people advice I have forgotten half of it!
  7. So I emailed Teds to ask if they could price match DWI's Sigmas 70-200 (yes this saga is still going on ) I recieved this reponse Hello Rebecca, Unfortunately we can't match that price as that retailer 'Grey Imports' their cameras. Our best price is $1749 If you'd like to go ahead with this offer please give us a call on 1800 186 895. For more information on "Grey Import" stock, see here http://www.teds.com.au/ted-s-australian-wa...se/w1/i2318998/ Its $1416 on DWI. Does anyone know how much tax I would pay on top of this?
  8. :D Such a cute thread! Charch loves nothing more than being wrapped up on the couch ah what the hey here's another
  9. Another vote for Ruthless here!! I dont own one (yet!) but I have seen them in person and they are Beeauuutiful!
  10. :D Hi Kenneh!!!!!! Im so excited for you guys. You're probably going to have to kick me out of your house a few times I imagine Dolers can expect LOTS of photos of this little muffin from me
  11. Unless you have a monopod or a tripod, you will WANT the IS. Yes, there are people who have the non-IS versions and they do fine, but you can also bet they throw away a whole lot more images than those who have IS lenses. Essentially, when you're shooting on such a long lens, there is lots of movement. Having the IS does make a difference, and it is very noticeable if you test them both out side by side. Shorter lenses, I would say don't bother, but longer lenses, the IS is an asset. Not essentialy but they definitely make the job easier. As for where we buy, we shop around for a good price then use either Ted's or Photo Continental. I refuse to purchase grey imports and also buying from B&H can be more difficult when the purchase is over $1000. Thanks Im definately going to get IS but its now whether I get the Sigma or the Canon. The Canon may mean having to wait a bit What are your thoughts on this and do you see/know of anything the Canon offers that the Sigma doesnt? Do Teds beat other prices? How is buying from B&H more difficult when the purchase is over $1000? I have a LOT of questions Ta
  12. Sorry I posted and now its gone!!!! It was my fault, they are in $US
  13. You'd get charged duty (and postage of course) on top of that though, how much extra is that? That includes postage Kirislin. I went right to the end to check out, selected postage options and these were my final totals. edited to add - the Sigma price is only until the 12th Dec so I better decide soon!!!!
  14. On B&H - I can get the Sigma for $1430 or the Canon for $1990 Both with IS, inc postage and in $AUD I just want to know what Im getting for that $560 besides a white lens
  15. That would be sensible BUT then thats a couple hundred bucks (at least I think) that can go towards it! B&H have the Sigma with IS including postage for $1440!!!
  16. There she is! Thanks kja. I think am leaning towards the Sigma. I cant really find enough reason to justify the Canon and no one can seem to tell me anything great Im missing out on. Its $$ I could put towards my 24-70 2.8 which otherwise will take ages to get. Thanks
  17. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight... thanks! Man this is too hard. I think if I get the Canon IS I will have to wait a little longer. I have started a thread on POTN to get some advice re Canon V Sigma. If both have IS I juat want to know what Ill miss out on with the Sigma. I do LOVE that their delivery times are so quick!
  18. ooooohhh jealous!!!! post pics immediately please! When you say dwi Hong Kong is that the normal website or a different one?
  19. Yeah I have used the one Annie has. I liked it but didnt try it out in all situations Ill be using now. Im reading reviews on the Sigma with IS and its sounding like a good option Thanks
  20. Oooh great Shell! Thanks I read somewhere that you could just get a monopod for the non IS version?? Certainly a cheaper option. I think my hands are pretty steady.
  21. Oh cool CrazyCresties! Thanks BT! Oh I really hope non IS is ok as the price is so doable!! Although the Sigma is really good too.
  22. Yeah thats the one I want but still not sure I can justify it :D Whatcha gonna get!!?
  23. Thanks Huga. Ill check them out. I know what you mean, I borrowed the Sigma version (non IS) and my arms and neck felt it the next day!
  24. Soooo.... OH is going to spoil me this Xmas and get me a new lens I really want the Canon 70-200 IS 2.8. Like, reeeeeeeeeeeeallly want it I know some of you use dwi but interested in some other places (online is fine) so I can start shopping Another question I have without starting a new thread - (hoping kja is in here ) Tell me how important is IS? Ill be shooting pooches and cyclists mostly. Am I right in thinking that this is cheap because it doesnt have IS? Is there one in between the above and this one? I ask because I didnt think this one was as expensive. At the moment I only have the 50mm 1.4 plus my kit lens I never use. I also want the 24-70 2.8 but figure I should add a telephoto to my list first. Any other suggestions are welcome and please feel free to send me linkies with any bargains people! Thanks in advance! Edited to add - Maybe I should look at The Sigma Is OS the same as IS? What else am I paying for with Canon besides it being white!? Am I asking enough questions!?
