  1. I went into my local Council (Shoalhaven) last week and the person that served me was very helpful. She pulled all my records up on a screen that I could view and we went through them all, fixed the one where I had used my middle name and then I paid for my kitten's rego. When I got home I could then 'claim' my missing cat. So despite my initial problems, once I was more careful with my phone numbers and spacing, all worked out well.

  2. Hopefully some Maremma folk will be in to help. I've house minded for a friend with Maremma's a few times and they are easily spooked. Banging my shoes together a couple of times to get the loose grass off put them out of sorts all day! And I moved a blue plastic crate to where they went through the gate into the other paddock and they wouldn't go anywhere near the gate until I realised what I had done and moved it.

    Good luck. :)

  3. Kirty where are you cats? Did they find a bed with less competition?

I once woke up with the stiffest neck and couldn't move - had a fleeting thought I was paralysed. I discovered I had a small cat curled around the top of my head.

  4. Like I said, I'm bad at this stuff. My door measurements are 202 x 81 x 4cm. The bottom of the striker plate is 111.5 cm from the bottom of the door. (Not a standard size door)

The Brighton door on Gumtree is 199 cm height, 80.4 wide, 4.2 deep. Striker plate 125cm from bottom of door.

Is the Brighton door size close enough or is it overall too small height and width wise?

The door is a little small and could probably be added too, but it would be fiddly, so time consuming, so costly.

  5. Dogs are lucky in that when things like this happen they learn to cope very quickly.

I wake my old dogs by gentling touching them or by treading heavily near their beds. If they don't hear me when outside, I gently touch them or brush their sides lightly and give the command verbally with a hand signal. Tonight my Cav tried to come in with an uneaten chicken neck so when she looked up I pointed outside and she turned and went straight out, I didn't have to make sound. Although with her I think it is selective deafness!
