  1. we had someone ask if it hurt our siberian to look out of his blue eye. The guy who asked the question had blue eyes so mum just asked him does it hurt you to see?????????
  2. Have you tried giving him a kong filled with his fav treat? This might keep him entertained enough to stop making a noise
  3. many years ago my family was involved in getting permission to run the dogs in the nat. parks. We lived at Mount Beauty and were invited by Falls Creek and Mt Hotham to have the dogs and sleds at the opening and closing weekends of the ski season and we were given access to a road covered in snow which the public had no access to for training. It was magic. I'm waiting for a new gig so I can start training my latest Sibs
  4. thanks Mym, over the last couple of months ive been training by myself and have finally got them to jump over the jumps without going through them and the tunnels were easy to teach them so now i'm trying the harder ones. i find it hard to find time to train the little darlings as they are very dependant on each other and there for cannot be left alone while i take the other one out unless there is someone home to look after the one left behind and as we are both shift workers we only have a couple of days a week when we are home together which is why i'm setting things up in my backyard. I've shown dogs for 30 odd years and this is my first go at agility so i'm off to the royal to watch the action dogs and hopfuly get some advice
  5. I was going to start them off very low at first working my way up to the proper height. They have both been on a see saw before and had no problem with it and it was a small fold up one. My kids are Siberian Huskies although my bitch is taller than my boy she is about 26 inches tall should be about 20 inches .
  6. thanks any idea where i can get hold of these?
  7. I make my own treats with a very simple recipe only takes about 5 min to prep and about 20 min to cook. 500 gms of any meat (blended to mush) with a little water 1 cup wholemeal flour 1 cup corn maize 1/2 cup skim powdered milk 1/2 cup wheat germ extra water if needed 2 eggs mix all together - depending on the meat you may need more water you want a moist mix like a cake mix. Grease a tray or line with baking paper and spread mix onto it evenly and cook in the oven for around 20 mins at 150 c (fan forced) slice is ready when it come off the paper without moisture at base. Let cool and cut into bite size pieces, can be frozen. Keep in fridge for up to 7 days I also add carrots, cooked rice, pasta, sesame seeds you can get the flours from health food shops My fussy Huskies love them
  8. Thanks smisch I'll give this a try as i made my tyre jump the same way
  9. If you happen to be in the outer north suburbs then I run introduction to agility in our social classes. You are welcome to contact me if that is convenient for you. I live in North East Victoria at Myrtleford I understand there are clubs that run agility classes near me but as I'm a shift worker I cant make week night classes
  10. I'm just starting out in agility with my Siberian Huskies and I'm trying to get some equipment together so we can practice at home. I'm after a see saw, the walk and an a frame. Is there anywhere in Victoria where I can get these or the plans so I can make them? Also any tips on teaching my fur kids how to get over these would be great as my local club doesnt teach agility.
  11. When I have a new baby to lead train I use an older experienced dog to walk beside the pup, the pup generally follows the older dog not realising it's on a lead. A friend of mine got a new GSP and we did this with my Sibs only after one day she was walking without tugging on the lead.
