  1. To be honest I'm not sure, all I know is what has been done previously or what I've been told. Maybe I need to ask questions on why some not all Bulldog breeders don't let the tie happen.
  2. Duhhh (not u me, :D ) I knew that but was thinking something else, like I said to many million things going on :D :D To be honest quiet a few people we know within our breed do natural but don't allow to tie not just the studmaster we use. They have been doing it this way for many years with much success. We will definately not discount the natural with letting them tie I guess when breeders of your breed have been doing it this way for all there breeding time & show you this way you tend to take there teachings on board. Once again thank you all for your comments, you definately learn something new everyday
  3. Think you need to google dog anatomy yep I think so too. Got 20 million different things running through my head at the minute & 1 is hoping we ain't missed her. We've had to do a bit of a 360 with our dogs, breedings etc. & are hoping we see babies sometime in our future
  4. With our previous matings we took our bitch to a Studmaster. He showed my hubby how he does his matings & he never lets them tie unsure why. So I guess my hubby is just a bit wary letting that happen as our Studmaster friend doesn't. He definately would prefer to do a natural mating not sure if he will allow the tieing bit though. Now if they do tie how long do they tie for???
  5. hi Guys, thanks for your posts :D I guess it's all just a waiting game now. Spoke to our vet & he has said that his no# of btwn 25 & 80 is wat they've always suggested there matings on & he gave me these figures before we got the results of her prog' levels. Now this maybe a stupid question but if the cervix closes tight at 60 like Peaceful stated could our boy still get it in there? When my hubby did the 2 matings our boy was in there well so he reckons :p & just makes me wonder weather he would still be able to get it in there. Also our vet has suggested we do an AI today, now of course they said they'll test her first before doing it, with her levels from yesterday & god knows what her levels are today would this be worth it??? Once again thanks in advance, much appreciated :D :D
  6. I can't remember the exact figure but I think it was at about 70 that the cervix closes. So if she was 74 today and was mated yesterday you may have just got her on the tail end. I'm wondering why you didn't rely on the stud to tell you when she was ready but I suspect your other thread reveals this info. Just a huge overlook on our part I guess :D , he had been trying to mate her right from the time she started bleeding & has the wound marks from out bitch to show it . With her last season she was really slow & we thought this time was the same, wasn't expecting such a huge jump in such a short time & to say our vet was surprised was an understatement. Oh well lesson learnt now.
  7. Is there enough room in the kennel to place a large or xlarge trampoline bed for the both of them to share. We've used mats, blankets, old cushions & have had them ripped or torn throughout the yard also . We've now moved to the trampoline beds, not overly expensive picked them up on ebay for $25-$30bux. In the beginning they would scratch at it & try rip it up but luckily to no avail
  8. Okay I have posted previously regarding my girl coming into season so soon after her last. Anyway we took her to the vet on Friday she had a smear test done & was teetering btwn 0 & 1. Vet told us to come back yesterday. As we were unable to get in there yesterday we took her in today. Hope this didn't stuff things up for us . So hubby noticed yesterday she wasn't bleeding anymore & decided to do a couple of matings for practice. He also did a mating this arvo before we took her into the vet, don't know if that was very wise. Took her to the vet today & had a prog' test done & she was 74.8 now after the test was done & before I left the vet (not knowing the results yet) I asked him what our lucky no# was. Now he told me anywhere btwn 25 & 80, crossing my fingers this is correct. Spoke to a friend of ours who have the same breed & they have told us they do matings btwn 15 & 30 & that they did a mating at 89 & there bitch missed, really not liking our chances . So after this big rave, I'm just wanting to know whether anyone has mated there bitches this high & had them fall. Where just holding onto a glimmer of hope that we may have caught her in time & haven't missed her again So once again thanks in advance, much appreciated. Moko
  9. Hi all, just another update. :D took our girl in to have a prog' test today & she was 74.8 most definately was not expecting that no# we thought maybe 11 or 15. Our vet told us previously that btwn 25 & 80 was a good time to do the matings, god I hope so. My hubby noticed that she had stopped bleeding yesterday so he decided to do a mating just for practice he also did another this arvo before we went to the vet. So glad he did & where crossing everything that we ain't missed her. Has anybody else mated at this level & had there bitch fall. I know all bitches are different but just holding on to a glimmer of hope as friends of ours have missed there bitches this high. Thanks for all the posts, much appreciated.
  10. We had to have a bitch of ours PTS last yr at only 6mths of age . The vet hospital we use were just awesome throughout the whole experience even went as far as sending us a card signed by all the staff ;) My husband & I were really touched by it & couldn't thank them enough for all they did to help us through that dreadful time. Big to the Staff @ Quakers Hill Vet Hospital.
  11. We are definately gonna stick with the smear & prog' testing as we don't wanna miss her this time. We have been told doing it this way is just wasting money but this is coming from veteran breeders who know exactly how there bitches cycle. Thanks we hope we get puppies too :p :D
  12. My bitches are very rarely ready to be bred before day 12 - infact, my girls tend to be ready later in their cycle (day 16-22)! To be honest I think she might be the same, we know a few different people in the breed who swear by mating (no prog' testing) on days 10, 12 & 13 which have caught everytime. Unfortunately our girl doesn't work like that, she has her own agenda :D :D
  13. Well done That happened to a friend of ours dog, they had gone away for a long wknd & friends were going over to there house to feed the dogs etc. They had him tied up to stop him from escaping & as he was a great escape artist, there friends showed up there the next day & he was hanging on there side of the fence. Very unfortunate but does happen often. You don't have to speak to them even write a letter & place in the letter box just to make them aware what happened. Never know these people mite actually appreciate it
  14. Just an up date on our girl. Took her in to get a check up, no infections found and after a wk of bleeding she is still teetering between 0 & 1. The vet did say she could be having a split season or that the last one in March could've been split. We worked out that last time we mated her we did it too early hence the reason she didn't fall & am guessing she is a slow bitch So will take her into the vet next wk to have a smear test so we can see how she's coming along. Thanks everyone for your posts
  15. They sound like the bogan kids that live on our street roaming around all hours of the nite vandalising anything they can  we've also had a couple of little fluffies show up at our gates but once our buffy dogs come running out they scram quick fast, little do they know our dogs are all bark no bite
  16. Thanks guys for all ur responses We've been keeping an eye on her to see is she is still bleeding as maybe it was just a figment of our imagination ;) Early next wk we'll get her into the repro vet & she how we go.
  17. Our dogs are given the 1yrly heartworm at or after 12mths of age, prior to this there on tablets. As our dogs are not huge fans of taking tablets I break the tab' then press it into some devon or there mince to disguise it, works everytime
  18. Wow I guess that some GSD people do things different as we would never let our pups go before 8 maybe 10wks of age. The biting is a puppy thing if it ain't nipped in the butt fairly early could cause problems further on down the track. From past experiences with our dogs we have had to teach the younger puppies to be calm nice etc for some it doesn't come naturally.
  19. Yea, she had her 2nd season in October last year, then came in for her 3rd season in March & now she's come in again. Now what will the ultrasound show, sorry if it seems stupid to ask. With the prog testing everyone I've asked has totally different no# some a really low like 9 then there's others who do it at like 60 & even in the hundreds.
  20. Hi All, Our bitch came into season in March (3rd Season), we mated her but unfortunately she didn't fall. Have noticed the last couple days our boy has been hanging around her like a bad smell, didn't think nothing of it as she was in season in March. Anyway I decided to check her fanny as our boy wouldn't stop sniffing her & what do you know she's in season again. Now I'm not sure how long she's been bleeding for. But what I wanted to know, is her coming into season 3mths after her last season some sign that things may not be right internally with her or could she just be one of those bitches who comes in frequently. As we would love to have her fall this time, when should we start prog' testing her? & also I know these no# differ but what prog' no# do you mate ur bitches on. Thanks in advance for all your replys Moko
  21. Not to be rude but if you dont want to add mince or anything to their kibble and you dont want to change their kibble again, then what were you thinking of doing, genuine question? I might just add a little bit of maceral to their feed and give more raw My dogs are fed twice a day and I mix dry & raw together with a spoon full of yoghurt or half a tin of sardines we've never had any issues with digestion.
  22. Wow, the Specialist we had our girl at said that they couldn't operate as there is no way of shrinking the oesophagus back into place. Apparantly she was born with an aortic (spellchek) valve constricting her oesophagus hence the reason it expanded into something much bigger then it should've been. From what our vet now told us it is a common occurance in the breed. We had taken her to a no# of different vets to get diagnosis as at 12wks of age things started going down hill. She was on every antibiotic you could think of & would get better but in a matter of weeks after recovering she would be worse then before. We had to place her food on a step ladder & have her be on her two back feet to eat in the hope it would bypass her lungs & go to her stomach. In the end her poor little body couldn't handle all the pain & no matter how long we kept her on the gas at the vets she just didn't get better.
  23. We've had that happen to us too :p , our bitch (not from the same kennels as ur's though) died at 6mths ;) :D ;) , we were absolutely shattered had brief thoughts of walking away from the breed, but could never see ourselves without one. Is it appropriate to ask what they died from? Our girl died from aspiration phenmonia as she had a mega oesophagus (food was going straight to her lungs) we had to make the choice to have her pts as there was never a 100% guarantee she would recover. The last wk of her life was very heartbreaking & expensive for us we would've paid any amount of money to keep her alive, unfortunately we didn't have the money tree sitting in our yard to continue. Still look at pics of her wondering how she would've turned out etc. But she's in a better place now, no more suffering for her :p :p :p

  25. Had to laugh when I read that crap, the hide of them :D :D But like bulloved said unsuspecting puppy buyers see the flashy website, not knowing no different & get seduced by all the glitz & glam.
