  1. No. Poor Spencer is always being mistaken for a girl :) He wears a black studded collar to make him appear a bit more macho, but alas, the girl comments continue.

I suppose he does act like a bit of a lady sometimes. A classic example is when the trainer that taught our class at the dog club was leaving. Someone in the class made a cake for the dogs. It was a carrot cake with cream cheese icing and liver sprinkles. All of the dogs got a piece, and of course they all hoovered their cake in about two seconds. I remember laughing at a dobermann with icing all over his face. And then someone says, "haha look at Spencer!". I look down to see my boy carefully licking off the icing and delicately nibbling his piece of cake :)

That just creates such a lovely picture for a Friday arvo...a dog with manners - how wonderful

    Gila...

  2. One of my male greyhounds, Ryan, is on the small size, and is very 'pretty' looking and people always think he is a girl. He also has a very soft, gentle and friendly nature. He often gets bossed around by foster dogs, and if anyone is going to get 'humped' it is poor Ryan. Sometimes I wonder if it is possible for a dog to be gay!

A 'gay' dog..that brings in a whole new gender issue...

  3. Probably a bit left field this....

Interested in your opinions, we have a female Pomeranian and a male Maltese and I was looking at them both recently and decided that our female was every inch the young lady, extremely pretty (no bias!) and very feminine, yet our male dog acts every inch the ‘man’. He’s got bags of attitude and looks/acts very manly. Do you think that I’m projecting my knowledge of their sex/gender onto them, or do male and female dogs genuinely reflect the attributes of their sex?

  4. Hello Kelly-Louise, As someone who went through a similar scenario...where we got to the point of making arrangements to sell our house - because life was almost untenable at home (the neighbours from hell) - all of a sudden and right out of the blue, these neighbours moved out - two weeks ago today. True, they were only renting, but I guess the message is that sometimes matters do resolve themselves. It is just so wonderful not going to bed with earplugs in....

So my message, take whatever actions you need to for your poor little pooch's sake, but know that things often sort themselves out.

That's my wish for you and Sasha....

  5. I often board dogs that belong to owners that are a little neurotic. It's good for the dogs, good for the owners to have a break.

There's always the " hows he/she coping " email or phone call the same day they walk out the door, along with " is he/she missing me" ?

To be honest, to date none of them have given a crap

There's all my illusions about my dogs not being able to do without me - shattered! Thanks for a timely reality check....
