  1. So many weird comments on this thread! Adnil444 clearly stated that the dog doesn't have adequate shelter. She was drenched when it was raining!! Imagine if it was a 40 degree day without any shade! I think you were perfectly justified in making a complaint. Now you've done all you can do and hopefully the RSPCA/owners will sort the issue out.
  2. Poor Astro! It's so awful seeing our beloveds in pain! Fingers crossed she's on the mend asap. Sending healing vibes her way!
  3. What a miserable day here in Melbourne!! I've left Zander with a coat on and plan to nick home at lunch to check that he's ok. Fingers crossed it stays on because it's freezing!!
  4. Absolutely adorable! Gorgeous pair of babies
  5. Thanks for all the advice guys! I'm going to have a go at leaving a coat on him and hopefully it will stay on and not get chewed! Luckily my housemate leaves home much later than we do for work so he will be able to check to see if it has survived before he sets off and perhaps fix it if it has come askew. It's going to be 13, rainy and windy tomorrow. Yuck!
  6. It does make perfect sense, however Zander is indoors next to my bed at night with a fleecy coat on and a blanket over him so he should be fine hopefully. (He usually manages to sneak up onto our bed in the wee small hours too! hehehe  )
  7. Wow, that sounds like a brilliant setup! Lucky doggies!! I think I might try and leave a coat on Zander. I have a feeling he will try to chew it, but I don't mind potentially losing one or two coats if it means keeping him warm on the icy days. He has two weatherbeeta coats already, but I don't think they're secure enough to leave on, they tend to slip. I noticed some great links to a few websites that sell coats in another post so I think I might indulge in my favourite pass time and purchase a new doggy product! I spend more on him then my own wardrobe!
  8. Hey all, My partner and I work full time so my boy Zander has to stay home outside during the day. He's a one year old Ridgeback. He has a kennel with plenty of warm blankets and a heat pad, as well as lots of shelter from the rain. I've been thinking lately that I should perhaps leave a coat on him when it gets *really* cold. Does anyone else leave coats on their dogs when they are home alone? I think I'd be a bit worried that he'd chew it, or perhaps get it caught on something and scare himself... what are other people's thoughts? I live in Melbourne by the way... it's currently 9 degrees(ish)! Thanks guys
  9. Hi there, I can't recommend Kongs enough! My boy loves them. It's all about how you stuff them. I find that if I stuff Zander's Kong well, it keeps him occupied and happy for ages. I work full time so I'm constantly buying new toys and trying to think up new ways to keep him occupied during the day. Here's a website with some great Kong stuffing tips, just in case you decide to buy one... http://www.k9station.com/kong.htm

  11. My ridgeback Zander does that as well!!! Maybe it's a breed thing
  12. Hi there :D I've been feeding Eagle Pack Puppy to my Ridgeback since we got him. He is now almost 11 months and he is in great health. Super shiny coat, lots of energy, and a good weight. I highly recommend. Haven't had any experience with Advance though.
  13. Hey all, My boy has woken up with gooey eyes, quite yellow in colour. I'm assuming it's conjunctivitis and have booked him in to see our vet, but unfortunately couldn't get him in until tomorrow afternoon. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could possibly help him without medication or should I just sit tight until we see the vet? Cheers!
  14. Move. Not the most helpful of suggestions. ;) So sorry for your situation! It must be very draining to be worrying about it so much. Hopefully when your OH pops over there again the father will be more effective with providing the children some discipline. Other than that, I agree with others that you should speak to the police or the council so that there is some sort of record of what's going on, and your attempts to rectify the situation. Best of luck!
  15. Ok, so I know I'm repeating what other's have already said, but I just wanted to post my absolute delight with this product! I finally got to use it over the weekend after a thorough vacuum of the house/couches etc., and it works brilliantly! I can't thank you enough VJB for the recommendation. House inspections are going to be a lot less stressful thanks to you!! :D
  16. I received mine a couple of days ago... huzzah!! Looking forward to a big clean when I have time this Saturday. Just wondering, have you all been diluting it before spraying it around the home on carpets, rugs etc. or just spraying as is? edit: nevermind! I just read back over the thread and found instructions in one of VJB's posts. Thanks again for the recommendation!!
  17. I work in Business Development at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre I think my Zander would be some sort of artist... he can be a little sensitive at times and he loves to pull apart his rope bones and decorate the garden/his bed/our house with their colourful remains!!
  18. Was it simply mailed or did your daughter have to sign for it? Thanks!
  19. Hey all, just wondering how long after you made payment that you received your Odour-Go? I transferred money on Wednesday and emailed requested confirmation that my order had been received but haven't heard anything back... I guess they're probably out of stock after all the DOL orders!!
  20. Don't panic - as Sway says, its HOT. Lots of animals will want to eat less in this heat. Thanks poodlefan, hopefully with the change coming through this afternoon, he'll be more interested in the next couple of days
  21. Same thing this morning... only ate half his meal very slowly. I will keep taking the food away if he doesn't eat it... just wondering how many feeds I should do this for before I need to start looking at alternatives... I don't want to affect his health too badly!
  22. If he doesn't eat his dinner after 15 minutes take it away and give him nothing until his next meal. How many meals a day is he getting? He gets two - breakfast and dinner. Usually a chicken wing as an afternoon snack. His breakfast consists of kibble and the breakfast mixture. His dinner is usually just kibble... occasionally, (like once or twice a week) he gets some sardines on top. I've read in a previous thread about taking the food away after 10-15 minutes and then not giving them anything so they don't learn that by not eating their meal, they get other alternatives. It's so hard not to give him something else though! Be strong Nat!! hehehe
  23. He gets bones every two or three days. Long ones sliced in half longways so he can get to the marrow. Chicken wings every day. I also make a breakfast up for him based on a recipe given to me by our breeder which includes yoghurt, egg yolk, oates, livamol, brewer's yeast and seaweed meal. His main meals are mostly kibble though.
  24. Hi guys, Our 8 month old Ridgie has gone off his food over the past couple of days. He's on Eagle Pack puppy formula for giant breeds. Usually he always finishes his meals, but since Saturday he's started eating very slowly and only eating about half of what's out, if that. He's still very keen on begging for any food that we're eating though! And he ate a shmacko during the day no problem. Might he just be bored with his regular food? Could the heat have something to do with it? He ate a chicken wing this avo no problem so it would seem he's just getting fussy. What's the best course of action if this continues? At the moment I'm leaving the food on the ground for him for a maximum of 15 minutes then taking it away. How long should I hold out on him if he keeps being disinterested in the formula? I'm a bit worried because he's still a growing boy and I don't want him to miss out on any nutrients he needs. Thanks heaps guys! edit: by the way, he seems totally fine within himself. Still lots of energy and wanting to play, and his poos are still regular.
