She does have a ANKC prefix. About being registered I'm not sure I will find out though. The vet cert is something I will be asking for sure now that I know its something I can get. Thank you for that.

Yes we are getting limited papers and we will get her microchipped, vaccinated and with six weeks of insurance.

She is a registered breeder. I saw her ad here on Dogs Online so it all seems very legitimate. I can see what you mean about breeder being paranoid. I guess that's valid. I wonder in regards to socialisation, if anything after eight weeks is too late to address even puppy school which is recommended between eight and nine weeks. I think its also the whole excitement we all have to know we have to wait more. We've set up her room bought all her stuff and were so looking forward to this weekend... I know at the end of the day is the puppy's wellbeing we should all be concerned with!!

Hi guys, Have a bit of a dilemma with the puppy we were going to bring home this weekend from the breeder. The breeder contacted us just this Monday that they all had caught the chills, have diarrhea and have lost a lot of weight. They are now on antibiotics. She has then advised us to keep the puppy with her for a couple of more weeks. We are just wondering if this is all safe or should we just drop the sale and look to buy a puppy somewhere else?? She is already nine weeks this week. This breeder seems to know what she's doing but we felt a bit weird when we had to go and see the puppy at a park rather than at her house with all the other puppies and bitch present. Her reason: moving house. When we saw the puppy she looked really good as far as we were concerned but we feel that bringing home a puppy who's just been sick is probably not a good a idea. Any suggestions???

Hi guys! Feeling really pleased with this thread. Im new to all this as I will be getting a nine week old girl staffie next week and am now considering raw feeding her. Like I said, I've never owned a dog before so all this research is pretty overwhelming and also a bit confused as the breeder we are getting Esmeralda (that's her name) from is currently feeding her litter Science Diet so I'm trying to get a menu organised so I can ease her into it as soon as she comes with us next week. My question is mainly concerned her being a puppy and not sure of portion control. How much should I feed her of each RMB, mince, veggies & fruit as I want to really include all the nutrients she requires although I can see vegies & fruit are not as big deal but then there is so much conflicting stuff out there. So please any info you can give me or suggestions in the mean time I will keep on reading and admiring the passion all you guys have for your pets it's special to see. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. I will take all those things into consideration. We are looking at this breeder Close to us the puppies will be ready in two weeks. It will all come to how we train her and her personality too as I've been findIng out. -
Hi Guys... Becoming really obsessed with this beautiful breed having never had a pet of any kind before. My husband and I want to introduce a beautiful red SBT girl to our family. (us & 7y.o boy) The more researching and reading the more I would like to have that special presence of this breed in our lifes. They just seem to have a magic about them. My husband has always been around dogs and his dream is to own a SBT and so is mine now. My question, one of many i guess, but the one that concerns me the most is: We both work full time and leave home from 8am till approx 5pm Mon - Fri. I would like to know what would then happen with her being left alone for so long?. What do people do when it comes to leaving them at home alone? Initially, Im aware of the demanding routine we will need to establish but I guess it would mean us taking a week off work between us and i'm afraid that will be it. I'm open to any suggestions. I also posted this under Breeders 101 - SBT topic. Need as much info as I can get!!

Thanks for all that info!! when you leave in the morning where do you leave him? Laundry? Crate? Backyard? We are still tossing the idea of a crate or puppy pen, but we definetely want her to be with us inside when we are home. We also have a laundry where she could be during the day but I wonder if all the toys in the world will get her bored as it is most of the day.
