  1. My vet were great. Firstly they didn't make us pay the bill on the day and said we could work it out when we collected Minka's ashes as we were very very upset and we received a lovely card from them :)

Mine are like that too. Makes things easier on the day. And the staff are so kind the next time they see me - more tears all round - but it is lovely to know that they understand how much our pets mean to us, and they share in our loss.

Exactly, We were crying so much and to stand there in reception trying to get payment organised would have been terrible, I cried again when we collected her ashes but they were all so understanding :)

  2. I get the "Oh she is a Belgian Shepherd" and when I explain no she is a purebred German Shepherd (Long Coat Black Sable)I get the "hmmm I don't think so" Wellll I have the limited register papers to prove it! Gets frustrating! Granted now she is older we don't get it very often.

I have a black GSD that people often argue has "Kelpie in it".........Proper GSD's are black and tan this person argues like the one over there............pointing to a Belgian Malinios

    Cheers

  4. Over the years I have had many dogs desexed, male and female, and they have always remained as they were before. Never agressive, this is the first I have ever heard of them becoming aggressive after desexing. We have had multiple dogs due to showing them, then as they weren't shown anymore they were desexed, which means that most of them were a few years old before they were done. Even before our showing days we had

dogs desexed and never had any who changed.

I haven't heard of this either. My girl was desexed at 6 months and she never developed aggression, still her sooky smoochy self.

  5. Name: Skylar

    Nickname: Sky

    Breed: German Shepherd

    Colour: Black Sable

    Gender: Female

    Age: Almost 3

Where did you get them from? Registered Breeder Vic

How often do you exercise your dog? Daily

Do they know any commands? Sure does, she is a fast learner.

Compete in any dog sports? Nope.

Favourite treat: Looooves sausages and Roast chicken pieces. She will do ANYTHING for either of those hehe

Favourite toy: Mr Stingray - He makes bubble sounds when she chews on him.

Funny habits or quirks: Zoomies around the yard when she has loved her dinner. If she gets biscuits only she isn't impressed hence no zoomies

    after dinner.

Grooming time means rolling around and kicking mum in the stomach lol

Has retained the puppy bounce hehe

What's their personality like? A very sweet, smoochy and funny girl.

Do they get along well with other dogs? Mostly yes

Are they scared of anything? Yes - The big black 15yr old cat of the household Misty. Skylar will hide from this cat hehe

What training methods do you use? Positive reinforcement? Corrections? Positive

  6. I worked in a shelter years ago and worked in the puppies area. Some of the reasons were

"Puppy digs holes" - Puppy was about 12 wks old

"Puppy chews and bites" - Puppy was around 12 - 14wks old

"Puppy jumps" - Again around 12 weeks old.

I could not believe the amount of people that just thought their PUPPY would be completely trained at this age with no work on their part. grrrr

  7. I have a 2.5yr old Female desexed German shepherd and she gets along beautifully with my sisters young Female Desexed Samoyed who is currently living with us at the moment but with her 4yr old Female Desexed Keeshond there are massive issues and fighting.

  8. I have only had to put down my last dog Minka and although it was the hardest decision I have ever made I was with her through the whole process. I knew she would become stressed without any familiar faces there and had to be there for her.
