  1. From my knowledge ocd has a huge environmental component so I'm not sure how successful you'd be in thing to get a refund.

Definitely worth talking to the breeder and keeping them informed etc, she may decide that a partial refund is acceptable/necessary/the right thing to do.

  2. Essentially a puppy is property in law.  I don't believe you have to give a refund without having the item returned. You've offered a refund and return and he has said no. Make sure everything is in writing regarding offering a refund and return - you can either let him keep the pup and ignore him at this stage or engage a solicitor who understands consumer law.

Well that's what I'd do anyway - I'd engage a solicitor immediately and do whatever I could to get the puppy back for a refund cos he's clearly mad as a hatter.

  3. I'm in a third floor apartment and my dog was an adult when we moved here. Honestly I just take him out first thing, when I get home from work and usually a bit later in the evening too and he just toilets then. I just have structured feed and walk times and we haven't had a problem - it also means he generally gets more time out on lead and at the park so I reckon he's happy. He's almost 11 fwiw.

My sister got a pup in her ninth floor apartment and she has a proper pet loo and trained him onto that and to go outside as well - it seems to be easier to train dogs onto pee pads stuck on the floor with the desired surface over it and then onto something with the surface. As in training them onto the surface and a step up seems to be too much in one step.

  4. Given topical used to help, have you had her scraped at the vet to see if there are mites causing the issue?

Could also be your standard flea allergy dermatitis. In that area I'd put my money on a flea issue of some kind. Perhaps the preventative you are using is no longer effective?

  5. Oh woof I'm sorry it ended this way.  She was ready to go and lucky enough to have an owner who could do the right thing and be there with her to say goodbye and send her on her way with love. Hugs, it never gets easy losing a beautiful little soul like Lulu

  6. I've used the digesticare with Max and it seemed to do the job well. He had his anal glands removed last year and then not that long after he had a grass seed in his ear so after about 2 months straight on antibiotics he definitely needed probiotics! After finishing the jar of the blackmores he's had the k9 naturals freeze dried green tripe in his dinner which he loves and is keeping his belly sound (he likes to find dead rats/possums etc to nom on). He also has the natural animal solutions omega oil with vitamin e in his dinner along with an emptied tablet of the blackmores osteocare green lip mussel caplets (he's almost 11, mini schnauzer). So I can vouch for the blackmores!

  7. What TSD said. I guess there isn't any fibre and filler content and any bone is ground up rather than the body having to do that itself - equals less firm poo and anal glands not expressing as easily.

I feed a combo of mfm /holistic select /black hawk and pre made raw with some meaty bones thrown in a few times a week. I have a smaller breed prone to anal gland issues and at almost 11 years old he's been fine.

  8. I'd just leave her be, she'll figure it out.

I might read a book sitting against the wall about a metre from the crate, not looking at her - just so she knows you're there but there is no pressure. Plus the cup of tea might smell interesting.

If she's eating ok I wouldn't stress about it, she's had a big couple of months and her life has been turned upside down.

  9. Also the microchip databases are different down here so please remember to swap over from the nsw companion animal register to either central animal records or national pet register. You will need a vet to sign off the transfer (certifying it is the correct chip number basically)

As for councils doing stuff for the people who pay rates? Ha!  well that would certainly never happen in the eastern suburbs councils I've lived in.

  10. Maybe get her a cooling mat? In my experience dogs lie in concrete etc because it is cooler and they are on the warm side. My old rough collie ran pretty hot (plus, you know, coat) so we put ice blocks under his trampoline bed to cool it for him as well as damp towels over a fan blowing on the bed area to help keep him cool - otherwise he would seek out the hard surfaces to sleep on.

You can also probably dig a decent ditch/hole in the dirt for him to sleep in - the ground temperature under the first few centimetres is pretty cool and dirt is probably softer than concrete
