  3. Not sure ST will see this so I will answer and end the suspense. ;) ST's sisters husband is moving there for work. ;) oSoSwift- great news about Rommi. In Toby news - his session went really well and the behavuorist thinks he shows a lot of promise. He is a bit of a loser at 'how to speak dog' if you will, but thats what happens when you miss critical socialization periods cause you are in a cast. :p I am glad Toby is improving Are you taking any leave over xmas and New Year Valley? If so we must meet up and so some training sometime seeing as I dont have class and there is no monday nights for you Well I only work every second week so I have off the 26th to the 1st and then the 9th to the 15th. PM me when/where suits you :D I will bring my Rally signs

  5. Grey slugs!!! But about your mum and Charlie! It still seems unreal ;)
  6. It's the only way Toby would ever title, poor chicken . Oh BTW I have been blog stalking ;) when is Kenz'z debut? (I assume thats what you are hinting at )
  7. As long as you email me in advance.... Mirawee can do all the ones I have to work! Why aren't you going to handle by the way?
  8. Amypie GR that dosen't mean I do any of it well!
  9. I think I may not get another dog for awhile, I dont want to change our dynamic at the moment, Mason loves working for me and getting attention but if i get another dog he wont be interested in me I dont think - and then I will just be upset. Hmmm according to my dad I have a 4 year wait unless I move out of home! (Think they are trying to get me to move out ) Will have to have a chat to the behaviourist tonight about Toby and what she thinks would suit him. I would love to have my own competition/show dog but I think the next two years might be full on so I might have to borrow red kids (and maybe even grey ones ) to be able to show and compete and stay current.
  10. Once Cider gets 44 more points she will be out of there - which may make it a wee bit easier. Looks like I will have to get in early otherwise you will be waaaayyyyy to busy. I have started agility with Cider ;) but she has no power steering and no cruise control - do you think Santa might bring me some? Hmm that reminds me can you please email me the shows Cider and Strauss are in for Jan? So I can let you know which ones I can make and which I have to work. I have given Toby since last Thursday off training (so not quite a week) but he seems to remember his obedience stuff! Doing some very nice fronts, left and right finises!!! He will even recall from about 20m to front enthusicstically (in my backyard ). But I don't think we are ever going to see the inside of a ring again (except if Rally comes in) which is a dissapointment because he is coming along quite well. However he be able to do a CDX round in my backyard eventually! Can the judges accept video entries?
  11. I have the opposite problem next year! I am working pat time in a really full on and quite rewarding (yet sometimes sad and stressful) job. I am going back to molecular genetics with a 3/4 study load including my enemy Chemistry ! And I am showing Cider and Strauss, hopefully agility with Strauss and working on Toby. Plus I learn Greek and I am supposed to be doing more with my Italian studies.... Maybe a DOL free year next year?
  12. Spartan's feet aren't so hairy after I hacked and you timmed them the other week!
  13. It's the (wild) rabbits that dig holes at our place!!! (And the kangaroos) Anyone have a spare sighthound? (Or a gun? )
  14. I have no dogs to show, only handling so you can always borrow mine The show oval in WA has lots of space and lots of natural shade. The big issue for me is the dog sports oval which only has parking on one side and gets very cramped. ;)
  15. I started this but never completed it. I get my new body for X-Mas (Olympus e30 ) and a new lens for my Birthday (March 2011 ) so Toby is going to be a model next year.
  16. Just for you PF. ;) This is how I felt last night after a certain post; But I couldn't stay up late because I start work really early and have to bring my a-game. I have a little wierdo dog, and I accept it will always be two steps forwards 3 backwards with him. I got him neglected, possibly 8 weeks old, possibly abused. After owning him for a week he broke his leg (I know all my fault ) and had to be in a cast from 9 weeks to 6 months and missed out on all that vital socialization. I have put a TON of work into him and was really coming foward when I had three incidents in two weeks of dogs rushing at him, two of those dogs were labs, once was at an offleash park, the others were on the street, all times the dogs had poor/no recall all times Toby was onleash. To anyone who wants to say am I being immature when I get peeved that thier "Just being friendly" dog rushes up to mine maybe pause for thought for a second. You dog might just be friendly but mine is unpredictable. The issue is dog rushing, I don't care what breed, size or if it's just being friendly. It has come to the point where I don't take my dog out much because I am sick of offleash dogs, I find busy roads are a good place to walk to avoid dogs, only Toby is terrified of wheels/cars and is in a state of anxiety the whole walk. This is not a gripe with any breed, just a gripe with irresponsible owners and idiot ranting posters (whose posts have been removed).
  17. Just quoting this again cause it's a brilliant article. ;) http://flyingdogpress.com/content/view/42/97/
  18. http://flyingdogpress.com/content/view/42/97/ Excellent, excellent article!!! Toby is a bit of a manners police and will be grumpy if another dog jumps on him, I have always told him off but will cease to after reading this (saying that I very rarely put him in situations where this could happen anymore). They barrel up and get right in other dog's faces.. not good dog ettiquette for meeting strangers. They also tend to be fairly physical with other dogs - a Lab putting the shoulder into or a foot on a smaller dog can do a fair bit of damage with not one ounce of aggression intended. And their owners often seem to think that their dogs' "friendliness" to other dogs should be appreciated by everyone. Ah, nope. Not any more than I appreciated being jumped on by a friendly Lab that "just wants to say hi". I have to take issue with this - THEY implies all Labs and that is NOT the case. It shits me that people make comments that imply all Labs are "in your face rude dogs and/or rough" with small dogs or other dogs. This is simply NOT the case and it infuriates me that ALL Labs youngsters particularly, are made out to be out of control, in your face, rude dogs. ;) BULLSH*T is what I say Labsrule- The worst offenders I have met have been labs, this is probably a combination of the quantity of labs out there, the general view of labs as a beginners dog/family pet (normally = uneducated/inexpirenced owner) and people in generals attitude of 'oh x is just being a lab, it's what labs do'. I know I should flame-suit up for that but I have a dog that is now wary whenever he sees a Lab and gets anxious, because of a few incidents when he was younger. Although on the flipside a calm, mature 10yo lab is my fav dog to socialize him with. :D
  19. Happy Birthday Ptolomy!!! ;) Didn't get in earlier because we were having such a hectic day at work (Thanks rain and wind ;) ). I hope your presents are awesome. :D And that your red kids (and Lara) spoil you by being super well behaved.
  20. Toby the day we got him: Toby at 6 months (just after getting his cast off): And see avatar for huge batman ears today.
  21. No not whilst you are moving. You can have 2 stewards or a judge & steward. Thats what I suspected. Thanks
  22. Question, when it says that in the figure of 8 a judge may replace a steward they don't actually mean while you are going around the figure 8 do they?
  23. Thanks DMA I am starting a wish list for my birthday
