  8. Glad she's home and feels well enough to run up the stairs!
  9. That is interesting. I'd not really heard of that being done, not that I know much about desexing. Learn something new everyday.
  10. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I've crated Buffy for 8 weeks when she broke her leg before, so I'd have no hesitations to crate her for 10 days if she decides she's going to be silly after her op. Though from what I've read it doesn't seem necessary. I'd probably assess her on a day by day basis to see what actions were necessary to prevent her from being too hyper.
  11. It makes sense to give them painkillers after surgery. But then a thought crossed my mind. If she doesn't feel the pain, will she know to control her activities? She broke her leg when she was younger, and would try to run around. I'm sure if I didn't have her on lead whenever out of the crate, she would've run around the whole house, albeit quite awkardly.
  12. I personally have no problems having the uterus and ovaries removed as I'm aware of the risks of pyometra and would like to prevent that. It's more asking for my mum. Also for understanding the advantages and disadvantages of tubal ligation. Since this is what's usually done in humans, I thought it might be a better alternative in some ways but not sure what. Thanks for your advice. I'll be sure to ask my vet about having the tests, fluids and pain relief
  13. Hi All. I'm planning to have Buffy (15 month old healthy Samoyed) desexed in the next month or so. When I told my mum it involved removal of the uterus and ovaries, she was quite concerned about the extent of the operation. I understand that even though it may sound quite drastic, it's a routinely performed procedure, and she should be fine. I'm just wondering though, has anyone had their bitch desexed by tubal ligation, or is this normally not done unless there's a good reason?
  14. Haha, Pip, you're so enthusiastic. Was only going to check for this thread closer to the date, but so many people have confirmed attendance already! Buffy and I will probably be going. My mum's friend's son recently got a little pom X I think, I haven't seen him yet, but she said he's interested in going too. From what I understand he's still a teeny weeny pup, but seeing Kairu did so well last meet, I think it should be ok. I'll update the list when I find out if he, his mum, and my mum are going
  15. Congrats on your new addition! Kenobi is sooooooooo cute!!!
  16. Yes, she does settle if you give her about 10 minutes. After then she won't be so crazy around the other dog, but before that she'll pull towards the dog, get in their face and sniff, may paw, and may try to jump up . Buffy's a pretty bad puller too, so even after she settles, she will still pull me around rather than walk nicely. I'm up for a walk with them if you are, and if you think Kosmo could put up with Buffy until she calms down.
  17. I'm not really sure. She looks pretty fluffy to me at home and to the untrained public Just at Kepala with all the other white fluffies you can see the massive difference in coat. Seeing she's already 14 months, I doubt the outer hair will grow any longer. Pip was saying she might just have a shorter coat, I tend to agree. Variation within a breed maybe. And I can never get her as white as the other Sammies (although she was pretty much as white as they come when I got her). It seems her coat is not as teflon-like as others too. Pip, do Dakota and Tika still have a bit of mud on them? Buffy still has a bit which if I don't comb it'll probably just stay there. Very nice pics Spitzbaby. Kairu sure did bring joy to us all on Sunday.
  18. Of course not CF. OH and I are in love with Dexter. I'm usually more into medium sized fluffy dogs (e.g. sammies and lappies ), but Dexter always looks so happy and somewhat goofy, I want one just like him! Yes, Acheron was heaps more comfortable this time, which is great to see!
  19. Alera wants Odie's ball? Kairu: Alera & Acheron: Buffy: Buffy & Ben: And finally this one of Echo & Dexter Phew. Sorry about all the pics. First time contributing, might've overdone it a bit
  20. Spitzbaby & Raiku again: Buffy: Echo & Dexter: Hector, Maverick & Echo:
  21. Belvedere: Buffy and Alera trying to get food: Tika and Alera: Echo surrounded by 3 Sammies (Tika, Dakota & Buffy) Buffy:
