  3. i think everyone is off digesting the info - there was so much to take in!! the dogs were very good - no serious offenders who werent making leaps and bounds with the advice given

  5. dogs do 'just break' under some circumstances - a friends labradoodle jumped off the bed and broke his elbow same deal... i think the chance of her losing the leg are fairly remote? ...
  6. Hi Folks ive been reading htis thread for a few days now - we just bought a canon 450D which arrived on monday weve been reading and reading and trying to learn all the buttons! hopefully i should be able to work out enough to be able to get some ok shots at the w/e of the aggression workshop - luckily we got a 55-250 IS too so hopefully i wont have to get too close to get the shots!
  7. there is a local kennel who can take them for the day for those who are staying - local accomodation also accepts dogs...

  9. just doing that now...emails should be sent out tonight... There are still a couple of places available if anyone would like to join us
  10. They are not actually illegal in NSW, however if it is not being used correctly (as with any training tool) the RSPCA are able to prosecute for cruelty. I dont think there is much factual info available for their use, however a trainer such as Steve at K9 force would be happy to discuss their merits.
  11. hmm sounds strange - im sure there are thousands of male/female household out there that can attest to the fact that it is not necessary (mine included!) in fact my girl barks more than my boy (just coz shes more reactive/higher drive to the outside world)
  12. Ill be heading in thru windsor also so can always hitch a lift with me SoG, as always places are suddenly filling up ive had another 2 people deposit today so please let me know asap if you would like to come - it would be great to see you again  Done

  15. it has taken a while for my girl to get used to swimming - but we visit the lagoon all the time and she cant resist. i always keep a curtain cord on her to prevent her swiming too far out or incase i need to get her back quickly for any reason... i doubt it will have any lasting impression on the pup, it will depend on how you reacted mostly...
  16. i find having a second dog has made my boy now 4, wanting to be involved much more. Hes sees me working with Rogue and wants a piece fo the action! so has come on quite a lot in the last little while...
  17. Hi Guys Shell - ive received your payment- i think you have confused me coz in your email you talked about bringing sleek? but here you said zero? maybe ive got you mixed up with someone else! excluding the people who have recently requested more info or bank details above there are 3 spots left, once the workshop is full, as i did with the TID workshop i'll keep a backup list in case anyone drops out after paying (i had quite a few in the last few days) so if anyone would like to be added to the standby list once full please let me know. Thx B
  18. apologies for the delays this week - im currently overseas for work so web access is a little eratic. for those who has contacted me via PM i'll get back to you as soon as possible, thx

  20. oooOOOO wow congrats - ive got my girl entered into her first CCD trial for the end of the month! cross your fingers for us - i have no idea how shell go in the ring but thought i should enter to find out!! she can do everything and is usually faurly attentive but i suspect that might go out the window when she has a audience! LOL
  21. as said above - i have 6ft leashs for my 2 akitas, keeps them out from under my feet, but i dont have to worry about control/pulling issues...
  22. ..... I never thought this, although I did think that there was some agenda behind the thread in the first place. However, "baited" or not ..... it's a thread that many people who are genuine in their thirst for knowledge might read and might have otherwise been easily influenced by video footage such has been represented in the first post. Video footage that really does not have a basis in "training" at all. So IMO what's been written has definitely not been a waste of time, even if the OP had formed a conclusion before proper consideration. In fact, I think the OP should be thanked - for bringing attention to uninformative and misleading material that is out there and that without this opportunity may well have gone undiscussed and undisputed. dont get me wrong i think you should be applauded for your persistence! anyone that has any idea of how training aids work understands that they can all be misused in the wrong hands, no OH did this kind of thing when i first got a no bark, 'just to see' that doesnt mean he would ever do it to a dog... i suspect this video was the same prank... methods progress (e collar training is very different to what it used to be) and those who dont keep up to date with the technology available are missing out, even if you dont use all the techniques (noone ever does) i feels its important to know all the different methods so i can have a choice as to what best suits the situation... and if anyone thinks a clicker will do the same as an e collar they are very mistaken...
  23. hmmm u gotta love these threads - why come onto an obedience and training forum (where its very obvious people use these tools as there are numerous threads about them) and make sweeping statements about how you hate them and they are cruel.... Maybe i should head to offtopic and start a thread of how much i hate black people and that they should be banned from public transport so we have more room...????!!!! i might feel that way (which i dont) but i wouldnt voice the way i feel in such a way that is so, openly trolling and looking for a reaction... good on ya Erny for trying to educate but i think youve been baited!
  24. Desmo was great - and it was interesting to see the different interest levels in the different dogs - as i suspected Mav showed no interest at all !! he is a bit better at home but not enough to work reliably with.... Jack my foster on the other hand - having had very little ofrmal obedience training everytime he see the tug he almost rips my arm off!
  25. not everyone coming will be bringing dogs - i have found that i learn much better when mine arent present and when there are good examples of whats being discussed present. For those that came to the TID workshop - Desmo is what im talking about, a dog that exhibits what you are trying to learn about. Many of the people coming are just coming to learn about the theories and motives behind dog aggression - those principles can then be applied in various forms to all dogs who show physical aggression.
