  1. Well Done Fran!!! And yay :p for good grammar!
  2. Oh my gosh i've started a riot... Apologies about the Thornlie and surrounds comments if that offended anyone, i've worked there for over 7 years now and have seen a LOT of action but through working there I have met a lot of lovely locals Decided to stick with the family vet, purely because I know him really well (even if he is farther away) but did look into VetsWest in Canning Vale, and found them rather pushy to get me to do things n sign up for things and I was like 'uuuuuum, no thanks'. Ex Thornlie SHS girls... A girl I go to uni with used to go there, now she teaches there Ooh, what are the CAWA grounds like? I think you can just rock up and check it out, is that right?
  3. Yeh Yeh! I'm so psyched. I was going to take him to Applecross Vet Hospital (who were highly recommended by my boss' wife, who's a boxer breeder) but looked it up and decided it would be too far to drive with the little man so i'm sticking with Hanly, the family's been with him for years and he's awesome. And vaccs' are pretty cheap too Thanks for the advice, going to have to take him out and get him around people, no point being super paranoid like I am atm lol Ha I only work in Thornlie, was the only decent username I could come up with at the time lol Living in Parkwood now, but we were in Gozzy for years, it's got a bad rep (just like Thornlie) but it's not a terrible place to live. I wonder what they'd do if they received an email asking them to justify the 2 dog rule?
  4. Hey RubyStar, Nope, they wouldn't let Mum register their third when they moved to Camillo (even though in Maddington they had 3 and no problems?), so they kept sending her letters saying she could only have 2, so she went down there and was like WTF? and I think she kept telling them that the dogs were well behaved and not causing anyone problems so then the council sent the ranger out. And hey, look what the Gozzy counsil are doing to that guy up in the tree... they really need to get their act together. p.s. Went to the vet today to book Chester an appointment for when he gets here (5 days, yeah!) and they had an article taped to the counter about parvo and were asking everyone to read it. Big for their vigilance I reckon. I'm seriously worried about Chester, don't think i'll be taking him out until the vaccinations are clear, or would it be ok to just carry him in my arms (maybe no? isn't parvo airborne?)
  5. RubyStar, I also find that very unfair, especially considering my folks are on the Armadale/Gosnells border (they're under City Of Armadale though) and they've got three dogs. All registered. ;) They were going to get busted for it but they just went in and spoke to someone (had a whinge), they sent the ranger out to their place, ranger took one look at the dogs (which are all very well behaved) and said 'they're gorgeous, no problems, don't worry about it'. And they haven't had any problems since So maybe it's worth gaving them a call?
  6. Ooh SparkyTansy you're a champ! That's right near me too! I'm so exited! Do you know when the Cavaliers will be on at all, I won't be able to make it to the Sunday one as I probably won't be able to get off work so I hope it's not then! Aah! Exited!
  7. Howdy fellow WA'ers Haven't posted here yet, saying hello with a little query as i'm not too clued up on 'showing'. I'm hoping to attend a couple, could be something interesting to do,have always wanted to check i out, so was wondering how I find out about shows and if I can attend (like, can anyone go?) Cheers!
  8. See now why can't I carry you guys around in my pocket and let you loose... lol I just checked dealsdirect.com, they're cheaper too I think it's just really important for him to have somewhere to feel safe (and because the OH will get rather annoyed if he chews any of HIS stuff) and since he's got a crate in Vic, i will hopefully make his transition a lot easier You guys are champs!
  9. This might sound a little bizarre but here's what happened today... My pup arrives in around a month, and he's coming from Victoria partially crate trained. Well, as crate trained as he can be at 12 weeks (to help him cope with the flight over and OH has decided he's not sleeping in our room with us ). So today, I went to buy him a crate for when he arrives to continue his training (and could even use it for travel if needed). I went to 'x' shop and asked to see what they had, to which he assistant enquired what it's use would be and I explained crate training. She then went on a rant for about half an hour, saying how cruel it was (she wouldn't even let me speak to explain myself), that it's not fair to lock the dog up for 8 hours (which is SO not the case...) that she shouldn't even sell me one out of principle and all this and asking what was wrong with putting a bed for him in our laundry somewhere (?!). The thing that got me was, I was telling her that I had spoken to a couple of breeders (that I know as friends) and that they all recommend crate training and that there is extensive documentation on the Internet about its benefits for the CKCS breed. To this she said 'well, I think those breeders are full of crap and you shouldn't listen to them!'. So anyway, I know that crate training is the right thing to be doing for my pup however, she's left me a little skeptical and disgruntled. Thoughts? Kate (p.s. pics of my little boy up soon)
  10. Aah SparkyTansy, I know the one! Unfortunately i'm dog-less for another month (just left home and my boy doesn't fly over for another month!) but will definately check it out. You're right, Kwinana is much closer lol
  11. Yep we always take our dog to Hillarys (even though we live near Armadale lol). It's always really good in terms of water but the others are right that it does get SO busy in the afternoons so maybe keep your dogs on a leash until you get down to the water and see how busy it is?
