  1. I just found this thread and didnt know that you had meets, that sounds awesome. I am working through easter so wont be able to make the April one, hopefully i might be able to make the May one, ensuring Pepi's health is up to it. This sounds so exciting, ive never been to one of these before. Dont know what to expect.
  2. Maybe get the vet or vet nurse to show you how it's done when you pick Pepe up Give the little guy a from us Will definately be asking them to show me their way of doing it and will be giving him more hugs from you guys, which i am sure he will enjoy and wont say no to lol
  3. Great videos and gorgeous dogs i particularly like Lizzy.
  4. Such a beautiful and clever dog, i thoroughly enjoyed watching it!
  5. Thanks everyone, will give it a go tomorrow. Vets said they'd medicate him for me in the morning but then ill get onto the night ones.
  6. A week sure is forever without our little furballs. He will need special care from now on and this does include diet and medication. However the vet said he wanted to go through all that with me tomorrow morning when i pick my little angel eyes up. The fluid therapy has helped stabilise his kidneys and we will need to continue oral meds at home for it to stay that way. If he crashes then he will need to go back for more fluid therapy but we need to play that by ear, some dogs need it monthly, some every second month and others not at all. Its still a little early to tell but it looks the future might not be as grim as we first thought, he might have quite a few more months left in him, possibly a year. We willl try to keep everything as low key for now, but we wont be able to help all the cuddles LOL there's me, my mother, my father and partner all hanging out to get our hands on him. I am just glad i will have him in my arms for the hour and a half drive home and no one can touch him as partner needs to keep his hands on the wheel to drive us safely home. Might even sit in the back seat with him so i can be assured of having him all to myself.
  7. It sure has been one roller coaster ride. Dont know how i made it through the week. Even the vets are suprised how well he has responded to fluid therapy! I am over the moon right now, we're going to have a little welcome home get together for him when he arrives. I am picking him up at 8am
  8. Pepi used to be really easy to give tablets in his food but as he has been on meds for almost 2 years now he has learnt to chew through everything to ensure it's tablet free and if it's not he will either leave the food or spit out the tablet (even really small pieces) and then eat all the food lol I do sometimes crush them in milk or weetbix and this does work from time to time but it does fail. We've even melted chocolate (doggy ones) and put the tablets in that and waited for it to harden and then gave them to him, that worked for a while but then he refused that as well. Ice cream was a good one but yet again failed. We've tried cheese, sausages, chicken skin, you name it we've done it and they've all worked but just not for long lol For some reason he doesnt like having his mouth opened, and it seems to stress him out a lot and he can get a little snappy to let you know he doesnt like it. Our old vets advised us to use a pill popper and handle him with a towel and sort of tease his mouth open a little with the end of the pill popper and when he opens to push the tablets into his mouth. This hasnt worked well at all for us in the past and was wondering if anyone had any other tips, tricks and ideas to help me out?
  9. I missed a call from the vet nurse this morning, called back and she was busy but waiting on a call back from her now. The message that was left on my answering service was "Pepi is doing really really well and his kidneys are stabalized and he is ready to come home tomorrow" Yipee!!! I am just waiting on her to call me back and we can go from there. Tomorrow 11am is going to be exactly one week since he had the seizure and hasnt been home. It feels like forever. Cant wait to have him in my arms again. Partner will be driving tomorrow so i can cuddle my little pooch all the way home
  10. We sure have some pooches on here that have good taste!
  11. That's great news about Pepi Hope that he continues to improve and comes home for the weekend. BTW what vet surgery are you going to? I'm in Adelaide and just wondering to you both, and Thanks, I just sent you a PM with the vets details :D:)
  12. I do remember that feeling everytime Chloe comes home from a hospital stay... and of course, the day Sasha arrived to me I'm very happy that things are going so well... and I agree, it's VERY hard to find a good vet that you trust. Hold onto that one! I sure will hold onto him and wont let go lol

  14. that's awesome, i love it when people can have a good sense of humour.
  15. Sorry if this has been done, i had a look and couldnt find any threads like this so started this one up. I was just interested in knowing what are your dogs favourite foods? My Pepi loves loin chops, vienna sausages, chicken, cheese, rice, pasta, corn, cucumber, apple, bread and weet bix. (not at the same time of course)
  16. Awww, thankyou. He sure is one special little 4 legged angel. I'd certainly do anything for him and i do mean anything. I'd walk around this earth on hot coals a hundred times if it made him well and helped him or simply made him happy. I feel like a kid on Xmas day waiting on his return, there's no words to describe how i truely feel. Well done to this marvelous new vet and staff. I owe it all to them. Had i left him where he was he wouldnt be with us today. to those vets who are true and genuine animal lovers and are in the industry to help the animals.
  17. I know of a alternative medicine vet in Adelaide but ive never been in to see him, so cant say how good or bad he is. Here is the link here: http://www.holisticvetonline.com/hvc/ I hope this can be of help to you.
  18. Thankyou everyone. I am so glad to have had the support of all the members. I cant wait to have my boy back in my arms, the house is so lonely without him. He is going to need extra care at home but well worth it just to have him by my side. Will get pics of his home coming when he arrives and post them up. Will keep posting updates as i hear them. I am so excited part of me wants to shout it out from the roof tops that my little Angel Eyes is coming home soon. Yippeee!!!!
  19. I have an update I just called the vet and he said he is continuing to make good and steady progress. He is responding well to treatment and running another lot of bloods tomorrow. He is still unstable on his feet but the vet said this is due to all the sedation that was given to him and with time will wear off. But he is able to sit and stand for short periods and take a few steps here and there before he falls over. He has made so much progress the vets are confident to send him home for the weekend unless something happens between now and Saturday morning. Ive been asked to give them a call tomorrow lunch time and we're going to go from there!!
  20. He sure is tough and i am very proud of him. Everyone loves him at the surgery, they think he is a real sweet heart. I am so proud and glad to call him mine
