  1. Well done Yarrowfell! Although invited to judge, I was unable to be there this year. Glad to hear the day was a success. Well done to all who entered. M
  2. Hi denali, your dog needs to be a minimum of two years old, and must be registered with DogsQLD. If your dog is not pedigreed, you can still register your dog as an "Associate" breed and then can compete in endurance and all canine disciplines except conformation dog shows. In Brisbane, the closest club to you would be Ipswich. They hold a endurance test in July or August each year. Get in touch with the club and ask when it is on and if you can go along and watch. You will be allowed to for sure. M
  3. For those of us not on facebook, can you share the GSDCV photos with us another way? M
  4. Just curious about the line up, do the judges decide on the day which order the dogs will run or is it done before hand and based on breed? Club discretion really. When there are joggers and cyclists, the joggers are usually placed up the front of the line, or down the back, but always together. Some clubs arrange the dogs by breed, or size. There is no rule. It can be done anyway. Next ET is Canberra this coming weekend. Good luck to all entered. Tollersowned, I know the people running this ET. If you want me to, I can enquire to see if they can accommodate a late entry for you. just let me know. M
  5. yea go for it share them around  there is a couple I will crop & then I will put up :D Great photos murve, keep them coming! M
  6. Bad luck about tollersowned missing the ET. It was a great day and such a shame you missed it. M
  7. A great day today at Altona. Good to meet all the DOLers. Well done to all for a terrific effort. Would love to see all the photos! Can you send them to me too? Terrific to see that almost all got through. News also from Perth who also held their ET today. Jo Washington-King obtained a pass for her Vizsla, Riviera, who is now CH Abbiestar Caisse Depargne TD ET! M
  8. Hi All, remember to rest your dogs before Saturday's Tests. Make sure you go through your checklist of what to bring. Do remember to bring your dogs!!!! The weather in Melbourne does not appear look like it is going to be kind. Dress appropriately. ( No, not black tie or twin set and pearls) wear layers of clothes that you can discard during the cycling/running if you need to. Remember wet weather gear and also remember the wind chill factor. Hats or ear warmers under your helmets, gloves that cover the whole finger, and change of shoes and socks. If you are into the cycling gear, the padded shorts are a must as are the leg warmers, thermal jackets, gloves and ear warmers. Good luck to all! M
  9. This weekend will be a busy one for Endurance tests with tests being held in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne. Get your training in early this week and then from Thursday onwards, REST YOUR DOGS. If they can do it at training early this week, they will be fine for the weekend. Any questions from anyone are always welcome. Looking forward to meeting up with all DOL'ers at the GSDCV test in Altona. I'll be the one that looks like a judge! :)) M
  10. Hi tollersowned, all handlers do need to be DogsVic members (or interstate equivalent) M
  11. Ok, I think I've rung this number about 20 times now and it's either engaged or no one answers! Guess this years ET is not meant to be for us ;( Keep trying! I now Marilyn is hard to gt hold off, but if she can get you into the test, she will. M
  12. I wasn't planning on bringing the bike, just wondering if anyone who had already done the test would be happy to go over the willingness test quickly with me. The willingness test is easy. It is not obedience at trial standard. It can be done on lead, you can double command, and physically assist your dog. It will involve a simple heeling pattern. Forward, right turn, halt, about turn etc. it will also involve a short recall on or off lead, your choice. The dog does not have to perform to trial standard. As a judge, all I want to see is that the dog is "willing" to follow your instruction and willing to work for you. M
  13. Okay   Is 20ish a good entry? 20 is the maximum number a judge is allowed to take on an ET course, hence there being 2 judges. The field will be split between the judges into more manageable numbers. 20 is a good number. Sadly, some other clubs have run tests with just half a dozen or less. M
  14. Still a bit stressed about 'the test' but what do you do. Is anyone going to be at the Park on the weekend who would be happy to go through it with me? I will make sure I bring some wine and the camera   Don't stress already! The willingness test is NOT an obedience test. The exercises are simple, on lead, and you can use double commands and physical assistance. Wine and a camera is a must! M
  15. Do try again. Marilyn Wrigley is the contact person. Her number is 5330 1578. I am quite sure that if the catalogue is not complete, they may squeeze in a late entry. Let us know how you go. M
  16. I believe there are around 21-22 entries. There will be two groups running. Mr Ray Ashman will take one group, and the other will be taken by Yours Truly! :) Good luck to all entrants. M
  17. Did anyone do the Dally Club yesterday? M
  18. Contact you trial secretary in person or by phone. Most are good and will accept a late entry. It is certainly worth a try. Sterilised dogs and entire dogs can all compete. M
  19. Anyone doing the Dalmatian Club ET tomorrow? Good luck to all who are. Looks like it will be cold and wet. M
  20. For those entering the GSDCV test, please make a point of introducing yourselves to me prior to the test and I can explain to you exactly what is involved with the wilingness tests and the 20 circuit. Also answer any questions you may have. And how about a group ET DOL'ers photo! M

M
  22. IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM TRIAL SECRETARY FOR GSDCV ENDURANCE TEST The Trial secretary has sent out an email with the Vet Check form to all entries that were submitted on line and also hard copies forwarded to those that entered via surface mail. If people think they have entered the GSDCV ET via the on line service but have not received the vet check form email yet , they should contact the Trial Secretary to double check that their entry has been received (they should have already received a confirmation of entry via the on line entry service, but its more that the outgoing email address might have had a problem if their inbox is full etc. Particularly those who sent surface mail - they should receive the surface mail return addressed envelope by Friday's mail). I would hate to think that people put in all the hard work and then find that the entry wasn't received (I know they should be all looking for a response from the Trial Secretary at least 14 days out for the Vet Check form to arrive, but sometimes a reminder is necessary particularly for those who have not done an ET before and don't know about the Vet Check form).
  23. I think they only got 2 entries last year, and only 6 or 7 the year before. Too much effort t run I guess. It is a shame. M
