  1. What a great day at the GSDCV ET on Saturday. Perfect weather, and a great club, great competitors and good sportsmanship. I had a lovely class of 13, and all passed. Any news from WA,SA or ACT? M
  2. If you are feeling better and have entered then give it a go! You never know how things can turn out. M
  3. This weekend coming has ET's in Victoria, SA, ACT and WA. Good luck to all entrants on the biggest ET weekend of the year. Hope to see many posts of successes from those entering. Good luck all. Looking forward to the gsdcv test on Saturday. M
  4. Hi. I do both road cycling and off road. The roadie is fantastic for speed and long distance. I cannot wait for my weekend rides! That said the roadie would be most unsuitable for an ET. Definitely consider a mountain bike or hybrid. The ET courses must cover at least three different surfaces and usually covers mainly gravel or unmade paths. Mountain bikes do it with ease. A road bike would struggle and the very thin tyres would not help you either. You do not need to spend a lot of money on a bike. To get your dog used to the bike start of by walking the bike between you and the dog. Once the dog is used to the bike being between you THEN start to ride it with the dog. If you need to know anything else, please ask. M
  5. Hi, all ET tests are conducted in the winter months. There is a rule that cancels the test if the temperature reaches or exceeds 24 degrees celsius. I guess it is easier on both dog and human to participate in the test during the cooler months. Definitely recommend that you cycle the course. It is not as hard as it seems and is controlled at 10-11 kmh. It is broken into three sections of 8k, 6k and 6k again with rest periods in between. Start riding now, it is amazing how quickly you will get in shape. Good luck, M
  6. No food. Same as trials. Remember it is a willingness test only. Not an obedience test. The dog does not have to perform at trial standard. As a judge I just want to see that the dog is WILLING to work for you. M
  7. What a shame, the ACT would have welcomed your entry. The only others in NSW are: Grafton 14 July DogsNSW 11 August Hope you can enter one. M
  8. Awesome job with your min pin The legs were really pumping and it was a gallop for the little mite the whole way. Appeared to do it with ease too! The Min Pin worked fabulously! Smallest dog I have awarded a title to! M
  9. So make a trip to Victoria..... M
  10. Hi Again, read this on another list. please support this ET if you can. It would be a shame if it were cancelled. M The trial organisers are a few entries short to meet the minimum entry to run this event. If there is anyone wanting to undertake an ET, please consider entering. I have been told that anyone wishing to enter needs to let Dogs ACT know asap and then send your entry in. It would be shame to have this event cancelled. Unfortunately all my own dogs are already titled in it. Link to schedule below: http://www.dogsact.org.au/schedules/2013/Endurance%202013.pdf
  11. Hi All, delighted to report I have been contracted by the GSDCV as a second judge for their ET on June 22. See you there! M
  12. Good luck to all competitors at next weekend's Endurance test at the Dalmatian Club. At least the weather looks like being kind. 16 degrees maximum and partly cloudy. Hope that is the case! M
  13. I'm not sure I can make that date, plus I'm a bit uneasy about running her at altona. I've heard there can be some less than considerate locals that I'd be very nervous about running her around! Plus there's a bit more time til gippsland so I can see if she's fit enough! I have competed at Altona at least six times, and judged there three times. Never once have I had or seen a situation where a local had been obstructive to the course. It is all on level ground with the exception of one small gravel incline. Very picturesque setting around Cherry lake, and very well managed by the club. M
  14. Hi, The Westernport ET unfortunately is not going ahead. I think they had a few internal issues that could not be sorted. A shame. I think the GSDCV may still be taking entries. Go to gsdcv.org and contact the trial secretary. M
  15. DogsACT have advertised their schedule for their ET on June 23. Details on their website. This is an excellent ET to go to. M
  16. Tomorrow is the 1st of May. ET season is starting! So, who is doing which test? M
  17. Best try for a test early June? DCOV? HVCV? Good luck! M
  18. As far as I know, KCC park is not being used this year. I am judging the Dalmatian Club at Tatterson Park in Keysborough. The HVCV is also using this location. The GSDCV are using Cherry Lake. East Gippsland use the paths around the lake. I do not believe the Westernport Club ET is going ahead. M
  19. Hi, I have judged the GSDCV test at Altona twice, and competed there about four times. It would be my favourite ET course. It is very flat, and quite scenic going around Cherry Lake. Most of the course is on paved road and pathway, a small amount of gravel and some grassed areas. One small hill and a 'dog legged' wooden foot bridge to negotiate. The GSDCV puts on an excellent test, and I highly recommend you entering this one. M
  20. I'm not 100% sure if I can make that one. But, I was just looking at the venue on google maps... where does it run? Is it around the whole park complex? Or is it just around a limited section? And if it is the whole park complex are there other things going on there on the day? And are there many other people that use the venue with dogs? I only ask as someone I know recommended that KCC was a good venue for Kenz given that we sometimes have issues if we come across other dogs that want to come too close to us that she doesn't know (if she's walking/running in the same direction as them we don't have a problem, but if they come towards us then it can become a problem!). Hi, I am actually judging the DCOV trial at the Springers Leisure Centre, and have done so before too. The grounds are completely flat, and the course stays pretty well out of the way of other activities. There is section of shared road, and gravel path. The club has excellent marshalls that monitor the course to keep it safe. KCC is a good venue, but can be very, very, very wet underfoot if the weather has been bad. M
  21. Hi, on the day of the test, your dog must be a minimum of 2 years old, and not a day older than 8 years old. M
  22. We board our 8 (yes...eight!!) Vizslas regularly at 4- Paws Boarding kennels in Pearcedale. Highly recommended. m
  23. You would probably be best to get in contact with DogsNSW. Quite sure they would have a better idea. M
