  1. Can this be moved to the cruelty and animal abuse section please.

Some of us really don't thrive on seeing these horrible things, so please keep them in the section that is for those who find it interesting and want to think, read about it and discuss it.

This topic was actually featured in "In The News" before it was split into two. I just searched for the topic & added my comment.

I don't think it's good that they show this sort of thing on the news. what can the public learn from it? not to do it? that should be obvious.

i don't think theres much chance of a copycat attack like there was with the cat in the bin. showing cat in the bin on the news was stupid as any nutter can copy that

You do have a point there. However, often when the media allow these stories to be spread worldwide, it often ends in the person responsible being recognised and prosecuted.

For instance: The girl that threw the puppies into the river, was found, due to the massive amount of media attention.

  2. Snow Wolf, greyhounds are not muzzled because they are "likely to bite someone" - it is because some can and do exhibit very high predatory behaviour. I have a greyhound at home who would never, in a million years, pass GAP as she is in no way safe around small dogs.

I just dont agree with any breed being singled out. Any breed of dog can exhibit any behaviour, it usually comes down to the kind of environment, and training it has grown up in.

  3. My understanding is that you intend to travel at 50-100 km per hour - not per day..... Is this correct.....?

    To fast..... thats for sure.

I have travelled 20-30 km in a day with a dog following on horseback on a regular basis. This is a great distance and the dogs are easy and relaxed. However on horses they would be working at a mix of walking pace at about 6 km/h a trotting pace at about 10 km/h and then canter for short distances at about 12-14 km/h.

Even a fit dog will have trouble travelling at 14km/h for long distances.

Zeping did say on a bicycle... So i highly doubt its going to be 100km per hour ;)

Our sibes race at speeds around 30km/h, but that is for distances ranging 2km - 10km.

50km, is a VERY long distance for a dog to be travelling.

I wouldnt really do anything more than 10 - 15km distance at speeds ranging from 10 - 15km/h. And of course, you shouldnt do that if the temperature is anywhere above 15 degrees C.

  5. Zero (who is actually Zero Armadeus Apollo) gets Z, Z-puppy, monster, munchkin, pup, puppy, poopy, Oi, doofus, fatty, fatty boombah, fatty boombalamutt, horrible dog, fat mutt, goggie, woof, woofy and smelly. I sound so horrible when I call him half of those things

He mostly gets called Z (Zee) but he gets Zero Armadeus when he's in trouble (or about to do something he knows is wrong).

  6. Not another snake bite!! How sad, so many dogs recently being killed by snakes!

Towser looks like a great fellow, I am really sorry for your loss.

I have a stuffed toy dog that I was given when I was about 6 months old (so he is 51 years old) and he is called Towser. :dropjaw:

    RIP Towser! :vomit:

We just had a red belly hiding inside our wall the other day. Luckily we found it though. Our neighbours dog recently passed, from a snake bite too. There really does seem to be a massive increase in the snake population...

    R.I.P Towser :rofl::laugh:
