  1. I had a cup of coffee with my MIL this morning and the dog is no longer classed as a dangerous dog by the Townsville City council, and what was on TV was way over the top and the whole thing has been blown out of proportion.

  2. This dog lives in my mother in laws unit block. The dog is blind and has 1 tooth. The unit block is fully fenced but the council deemed it wasnt in a fenced area. The lady that reported the dog as menacing is not very popular.

  3. Had your puppy already had a vacc at 6 weeks? Cause if so, one at 8wks isn't really necessary, but one at around 12wks or later would be fine.

I don't like the idea of a C4 plus a KC because you're doubling up on a KC component

Yes, she had her first vac at 6 weeks. I thought c4 didnt have the KC included? Thats what my previous vet told me and the reason why my other girl received c4 and c5 3 months apart.

  4. I didnt know there was a C3. Why dont vets tell people there are differant types??

My girl got double dosed last year. We bought her from a breeder in october, she had c4 in august, our vet recommended KC so gave her a c5. On reading the previous posts she should have received the spray up the nose only!

We got a new puppy at beginning of June. Took her to same vet, was told dont need vac at 8 weeks but needed worming. Tried to give me 2 interceptors, one for now and the other for 2 weeks. I asked about overdosing, was told no but she changed it to a worming tablet anyways. Rang them 2 weeks ago about getting 12 weeks shots (she was 11 weeks 4 days old), was told by the vet nurse, she couldnt be vaccinated until the next week as she was to young. Ummm yeah ok. Then she argued with me about previous vaccinations, questioned me why she wasnt vaccinated at 8 weeks. After I hung up, I rang another vet and made an appt for her 12 weeks vac for that afternoon. She got c4 plus the spray for KC at the new vets. The other vets have lost my business.

  5. My girl was on it. hated the drug and what it did to her. She drank constantly and was hungry all the time. She drank so much, she pee'd inside because she could never make it outside. She went from a picky eater to eating anything she found and guzzling it down. She was on a high dose tho because she had a brain tumour. But it didnt make seeing her that way any easier knowing she wasnt in pain.

  6. When we got the new pup 2 weeks ago, I recorded her birthday for future reference and discovered something that I thought was funny

    Phoebe DOB 23 April

    Sasha DOB 20 April

    Madison DOB 10 April

    Mykah DOB 10 April

Even tho there are 9 years between them all, has to be something about April puppies.

  7. We got a new puppy 2 weeks ago. The oldest, maddie tolerates her, growls at her when she is close but snuggles with her in the same bed when she thinks noone is looking.

The pup, Mykah and the other girl sasha, are best buds. Where one is the other one will be also. They play together constantly, doing zoomies around the back yard. Mykahs legs cant quiet keep up yet but she tries her hardest. Sasha takes mykahs toys, food from her mouth, drinks her puppy milk but one little squeek from the mykah and she is there, checking to make sure she is ok. I was a bit concerned that Sasha would have the middle dog syndrome when we got the pup but everything has worked out great. maddie is now left alone to enjoy her peace and quiet while the two younger ones create mayhem and havoc wherever they go.

  8. Maddison - We couldnt think of a name for our Cav, and hubbie was watching TV, there was a Kids quiz show on and one the the girls was called Maddison. She gets called Mad for short

Sasha was alraedy named by her breeder and we kept it.

Mykah - Mykie is named after Mica because it was the only thing I could think of that was black LOL

  9. My puppy is 8 1/2 weeks old, we received her on Friday afternoon. I know exactly where your coming from. Mykah whinges, screams, howls, barks when placed in her enclosure. I have been placing her in there as much as possible when I am home, and only getting her out when she has been quiet for 30 seconds or more! Today she was quiet for about 5 minutes. I know its not much but its a start. I am dreading my neighbours complaining about her barking etc when I get home but so far so good. Yesterday she was nearly hourse from crying so much. I feel sorry for her but its something she has to get used to. Night time is the worst. I have resorted to sleeping on a matress near her crate just so we can get some sleep! Worst case she ends up sleeping with me on the floor. Most puppies go through it, taken from mum and siblings, they dont like being seprated from someone who they see as their carer.

My cav was the same tho, took her a few weeks to settle down, now she couldnt care less where I am, just as long as she has a biscuit she is happy. LOL

There is one question you need to ask yourself. Will you regret giving your puppy up? If the answer is yes then dont. You will always wonder 'what if' Go talk to your neighbours, they may not hear as much as you think or they may tolerate the ruckus knowing your working on the problem.

Atm both mine are sleeping at my feet, mykah using Sash as a pillow. Adorable....only when sleeping!

  10. i am wary of anything bigger then my knees. Ran into a lady walking a rottie at a show in the dark. Caught me by surprise, scared me silly. I was petrified, the rottie owner said her dog was ok, that it was old. Honestly I dont care if it has no teeth. Its a large dog sniffing me when I am terrified. People should show some consideration for others. Not every one likes every single dog they come across.

  11. I just put a puppy wee pad out for my girls to use when its raining because the cav usually goes on the concrete which is undercover but she wont go when its raining. Gotta be pychological. The stairs are undercover too so she wouldnt get wet but she refuses to go.

  12. Ah, I can relate to those supposed Telstra calls. I had quite a few of them last year, always from people with foreign accents and none-too-good English skills. Some of them told me straight up they were calling from overseas.

When I would ask when Telstra would tell me in writing or any other question about the hows and whys, they'd hang up. Before I went on the Do Not Call register, I took to blowing a whistle HARD down the phone. That worked. Calls have dropped off since I registered. Lately it's been the "calling about the problem with your computer" - to which I say I don't have one, they hang up. Even my OLD mother who's never used a computer in her life is getting these calls recently.

I guess I could give these people a couple of marks for creative thinking but minus marks for intelligence. :mad

I got a phone call tonight about the problem with my computer. Evidently they had been monitoring my computer for a long time (very nice of them) and they have discovered I have downloaded all these virus's which are stopping my computer from detecting said virus's. I told them I dont believe you and hung up. My Mother in law received same phone call last week and told them she doesnt have a computer and they hung up. In the past she has received these types of phone calls and given them my phone number because we have one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was not impressed and told her DO NOT give our phone number to anyone.

  13. Greytmate - what is your stance on all the breeders/show people who rehome dogs after a few litters or if they don't make show potential? Somehow when all the disdain gets throw on people who rehome for a variety of reasons, the breeders are never mentioned. Is that ok then?

Good question, one I would like to know the answer to as well. At shows I am constantly told if my dog doesnt perform move it on! Get another one, its not a pet its a show dog. Isnt that the same thing?????? If a dog is for life why would other show people be telling me to move my dog on just because its not winning. In the show world that phrase should be: A dog is for life only if it lives upto someone elses standards.

  14. I would go to any extent to find my dogs if they were ever stolen and will not stop till they were found.

Lovely story, but it also provides a very good reason not to leave dogs unattended in public places.

I am also surprised that the police didn't help. Legally, dogs are property and if a person reports a stolen property the police is supposed to look into it.

I had a dog stolen from my yard by people who claimed she was theirs. The police didnt want to know about it. If it was a boat or car they wouldnt have done something. In their words, they had no facility to hold a dog until rightful ownership was established. I had papers and everything to prove she was mine but possession in this case was 9/10's of the law. I never saw my dog again. i was devastated to the point I moved house because everytime i entered the building I expected her to be there :( I still have her rego tags, bowls, toys etc.. Even the council didnt want to know about it, everyone kept passing the buck.

  15. I bath both dogs every week. The eldest has allergies and rips herself apart if she isnt bathed at least every 5-7 days. The other is a white long haired show dog who loves nothing better then to help me weed by pulling up the weeds and then doing zoomies around the yard with them.

  16. I bonded with my girl straight away when she was a puppy. She was my dog, my faithfull little companion. We got another pup when Phebes was 4 but i have never bonded with her. That pup is now 5. My girl has since passed on and we got another pup who is now year old. I have bonded with her, it took awhile. The bond isnt as strong as it was with Phebes and i find it grows stronger as time goes by. She will look at me with love and my heart melts and in she creeps just a litle bit more.

  17. We have a vet hosp, attached to the univeristy, manned by uni students under supervision of the professors. You make an appt, you see a student, in the presence of a qaulified vet or the student makes a report which is then perused by a professor. It all depends on the urgency of the case. I have no problem going there as these students get to learn. All uni's should have one.

  18. I was feeding mine lenards chicken mince but then the shop stopped having it in stock, another store's mince was supposed to be fresh but my dogs wouldnt eat it and it was really watery every time i bought some. I ahve changed to chicken breast or beef mince from the supermarket mixed with vegies. They get a chicken neck each night as well also sardines a couple times a week.

It costs more to feed them but at least I am guarenteed that they will eat their dinner every night. Its not cheap if you have to throw it out because they refuse to eat it.
