  1. I have two young kids and a puppy and we have been having a few issues with jumping up and nipping too. I have found the crate and puppy pen invaluable, so that if I can't directly supervise, the kids can't be teaching our pup any bad behaviour! We have been doing lots of reinforcement of quiet calm behaviour, and making sure pup gets her rough play time with me or with our older dog so she isn't so hyped to play with the kids.

  2. Is there anyone bringing human kids? Is there any play equipment or similar? Just wondering if i should bring the kidlets or not.

Hmm, we could always put them in a run! LOL

we could always crate miss 1.5 with the puppies LOL :)

Sounds very tempting :o If DP comes and gives me a hand they should be alright.

  3. yeh i think il get the bunnings compost bins wire pen... if she si a jumper ill put a lid on it but she should be fine for a few weeks at least... they look good and i have heard all good stories from them

I heard those bunnings ones were good too - but start looking for them now, I couldn't get any for Ruby as they were out of stock, and they didn't know when more would arrive. I ended up getting a vebopet one.

There is a good chance that I'll have Ms 11, but don't count on her for human company, unless it involves discussions on Pokemon and Nintendo DS games.....!

No chance of that kind of discussion occurring with my littlies - they're only 3.5 and 1.5 lol. Do you know if the area is at all kiddie friendly? Mr 3 will happily play with a ball or cruise around on his bike but miss 1 has just entered the wandering phase.

So sorry to hear about your ex M&M ;)

LC - that is great that Charlotte is on the mend!

  6. My little SBT pup is nearly 12 weeks and has only really started to get into her kong in the past week. I think in the first few weeks she was home, she didn't have time to get bored really because she spent so much time sleeping. But now she is awake more, she has more time and energy to engage in toy destruction - I mean, playing lol.

A pigs ear keeps her going for several hours - a silky pup would probably be chewing on one for a week though

I got her interested in her kong by stuffing it with a mixture of soaked kibble and chicken mince then freezing it. I also rub a bit of vegemite on the inside of the kong before I stuff it.

I saw a good idea on a blog last night - have a look at this: http://thedexterdiaries.blogspot.com/2010/...-leftovers.html

  7. Well done PM and Oberon!! That's great news. I'm sorry to hear about Oberon's toe - I hope it heals up really quickly

ETA: Ruby is entered for her first show at Bendigo on Feb 25th.! I ran into her breeder at Bulla last week (and so didn't end up making it round to the Group 3 ring Gumnut - how did you and your breeders dog end up going by the way? ) and got some good tips on stacking, and she said I was doing really well with Ruby's leash training  Another lady who also has a dog she got from Ruby's breeder, has offered to handle Ruby for me on the 25th, so I have the option to chicken out if I'm not feeling confident!

  8. As soon as I get my dogs vic rego number I am going to be entering this as my very first show. When can you enter - and what is the cut-off date for entries to be received?

We will book into Central City caravan park too (or should I do that now - is it likely to be booked out?) Very excited and nervous!
