  1. I have just been to the dog food analysis site to see what it is all about. The food I feed is a 1 star food, but my dogs do well on it, and live to an old age with very few vet visits during their life time. They are also top winning show dogs, so they obviously look good on what they are fed as well. I often wonder if these types of studies are done by seeing how dogs actually do on different foods, or how they are supposed to do because of what books etc say. I think the old saying " if it isnt broken, why try and fix it " relates to this as well. Ian www.saluki.com.au
  2. I am sorry to hear that you had problems, as I use it on my dogs and have never had such good results from other brands, and I have tried virtually all of them. Ian Well i have tryed the conditioning treatment (animal house) would never use it again mass of knots thats all i got from it, I'm lucky to have got all knots out using cheap nasty conditioner but it worked better then that stuff.Thank goodness it was undercoat and not top coat i lost.
  3. I would be interested to know what Animal House products you have tried. Particularly with your cooment about trying to keep the coat. If you are looking for something to use on the coat between shows, if you go to their website, www.animalhouse.com.au they have a mixture called The Mixture that is great to leave in coats between shows Ian
  4. No i didnt ask the vet, becaue quite frankley, a vet probably wouldnt know the answer. I did go and do a lot of research into ingredients etc and discovered that Nutro has 90 odd percent Phosphorus to Calcium, where most of the other major foods have 70 odd percent Phosphorus to Calcium and I think is where the problem may have come from After a couple of weeks all is well again now and back to normal. I have had Saluki's for nearly 30 years and over that time, have never seen anything like this before and the litter is not from bloodlines that would have some sort of weird different growing pattern.

Now why didnt I think of cable ties I will also try and bend up the ends like they do on the c -crate xpens so that their springs dont unwind Ian I don't think you can LOL. I just used cable ties on mine, leaving one corner 'open' and I close that up with a few old leash clip thingys I got mine a few weeks ago from Bunnings Altona (in Melbourne), they had 4 left after I bought mine. Am tempted to get another one though, would be handy.
  6. I recently tried raising a litter on Nutro, but at 10 weeks of age when they started getting bowed front legs I took them straight off it. I put them back onto Pro Plan Performance like normally feed my pups and within a wek they were straightening again. I know that I will never feed it again Ian

I bought 4 of them this week to use for my Norfolks at shows. I ended up phonng around the Bunnings stores first as not all had them. Some stores have them listed as a P ( promotional item) and some as a C ( stocked item) I just have t o work out how to stop the springs winding themselves off the corners lol Ian
  8. I am sorry, but no food is worth paying $100.00 plus for 5 Kilos for Ziwipeak Ian
  9. if you havent tried Animal House, give it a go. It is not only very very economical, but it smells great and the results are even better www.animalhouse.com.au
  10. I looked at a website that sells ZiwiPeak Daily-Dog Cuisine - 5kg bag (air dried) and i am sorry but no food is worth $112.00 fr a 5 kilo bag
  11. I always read dog food threads with great interest. I have fed Pro Plan to all my dogs for over 5 years now and have never had a problem with a single one of them. I agree that you should feed a dog what suits it best, obviously all of mine are suited to Pro Plan
  12. Bathing methods are always a great conversation topic. There are many products out there and everybpdy has their favourites that suit their dogs the best. What might suit one person in a breed might not suit another. You might even have to use different brands on different dogs that you won yourself. I personally am very impressed with a fairly new range being made in Queensland called Animal House www.animalhouse.com.au I have used most of the major brands from around the world over the years, and I have found this product range to be the best I have used. Cheers Ian ( contrary to many rumours around the dog world, I have no financial interest in this company, I use it because I like it)
  13. I now use a fairly new Queensland made range of Shampoos and conditioners called Animal House. You can see their products on their website www.animalhouse.com.au
  14. I won a bag of Eagle Pack recently and when I came home and tried it, my dogs wouldnt eat it. Am glad to hear that others havent had the same problem
