  1. I have a spotty potty for my little dog, I'm guessing it's the same one you are talking about. I have found it excellent as it is very low to the ground compared too the pet loo.

I found pet pads unsuitable as she would move them around and play with them.

  2. I do not agree that tiny dogs need to socialise with much larger dogs. My little pomxchi is extremely social with all other dogs even though we have mostly kept him away from larger dogs. Even meeting on a lead is risky, we had an over friendly GSD push down on his back with its paw which caused a luxating patella in one knee, he had perfect patellas before the incident and both dogs were on lead.

Totally agree with this! I find big dogs always want to smack their paw on my girl.

  3. Thanks dancinbcs, took him to the vet who lanced it & took out as much puss as they could. I decided to give him the antibiotic injection anyway just in case.

The problem is, I can't squeeze my own zits let alone this one which was the size of a small apricot,:eek:

He's now good, not struggling or in pain but there's still a lump so they didn't extract it all by the looks of it. Hopefully it will sort itself out but I'll keep an eye on it.

I'm sure others will be interested in your suggestion of treating puss buckets though, ta :D

Oh god I wouldn't be able to help not picking that lol, my poor dogs have always had to put up with my picking and squeezing.

  4. Does anyone know the rate of purebreds in the pound compared to cross breeds?

If the amount of purebreds is a tiny percentage of cross breeds, the whole reason for desexing early doesn't hold up and breeders should be looking after the welfare of their puppies not putting them in jeopardy of long term health problems which the new owners have to pay for.

Would be interesting to see a case go to court against a breeder for the above situation.

But that's the thing the offspring are more than likely going to be a cross, are we are talking about the resulting offspring ending up in pounds? It's usually the oops it was the bitzer down the road the road that got to her suituation.

  5. I can recommend the griffon bruxellois, I have a 2 yr old smooth coat and my mum owns a 1 yr old smooth. They are very happy, active little dogs and don't seem to suffer from breathing problems like other bracy breeds. They love other animals and adore everyone. They do well as apartment dogs as long as they get a good walk and playtime, mine has an indoor toilet as we are in a townhouse with a unusable backyard. They are extremely smart and pick up things very quickly.

I can recommend a Melbourne breeder to speak too, pm me if you want the number.

  6. I watched it on TV, they said the dog had attacked before hence the dangerous dog status. It looked like they had taken the dog with them on a trip as the dog was in a motor home on the news, they lived in NSW and it looked like they had taken the dog on holidays with them to the sunny coast.

  7. My dog is essentially an apartment dog, I live in a townhouse with a garden for a backyard but she isn't allowed out there as she eats the bark and chews on the onion grass that is almost impossible to control which makes her sick.

She is 100% toilet trained, she goes on her doggy toilet which is fantastic as it only has to be cleaned every 2nd or 3rd day but I pick up the poos straight away. It has worked really well for us, she gets one walk a day and free run time at a field near us. I would recommend a toy breed (mine is a griffon bruxellois smooth). She really doesn't seem to mind not having a backyard and it's so handy having her trained to a dog toilet.
