  1. Yep, timber flooring gotta love the scratches It does just go hand in hand with having them as part of the family, aswell as the hair and drool everywhere!!! I wouldnt have it any other way A vac and a mop and all good to go :) I love the "gives it character" nice :)
  2. My boy is a brindle bullmastiff I know people dont see many in public like him But no...he is not a staffy Or a very large boxer And i know he looks extremely cute & friendly (he would lick you to death) But do not randomly pat him as we walk by or place you baby/toddler right in front of his face He WILL slober on you, cause he loves to share
  3. Our thoughts are with you She is in good hands i am sure she couldnt of found a more amazing home, filled with lots of love we are praying for her xxx
  4. Sorry i stuffed up , i checked today and Cessnock vet is only 24hr emergency for large animals like, livestock Other animals ,they are available till 10pm, then you are referred to ?? 24hr emergency centre at broadmeadow I have seen all the vets , and i havent had a problem with any of them I did ask about the equipment, and they are able to provide full services for hospital
  5. We have used kurri vet for 5yrs now, it is small practise at kurri but a larger practise with a hospital at cessnock , with after hours emergency found all the vets to be excellent and all the receptionists are amazing,
  6. Something simple we can all do is let our neighbours know about the dog thefts, so that then we can all keep an eye out and catch these low lifes
  7. Thankyou for the feedback I know that you can only make a judgement on your own experience, but is good to see what other peoples thought are When we first got our boy we did alot of inspections of kennels, and one that was highly recommended was ticking all the boxes until a lady came from no where swinging a poly pipe and hitting it against the fence to stop 2 dogs barking!! We were not impressed!! But we eventually did find a great one and he seems to love it, he drags us in and we have to basically drag him out!! :) Its just that i have recently seen an ad for pet resorts and it looks amazing, so just deciding whether to give it a go...... i dont like leaving him at a kennel anyway, but sometimes i dont have a choice, so i want to make sure i have sent him to a place he WILL be looked after After that place we did see, i totally agree that sometimes " all that glitters is not gold" can be so true, so thankyou on your opinions, and i will now make up my own It does look like paradise :)
  8. Yep great ideas And so easy too Cant wait to try a few of them out!!
  9. My partner and i occassionly work extended hours For our boy we leave 3 kongs out a kong wobbler and empty 600ml coke bottles ( with plastic seal cut off) with dog food in them We also hide treats around the yard This seems to work and most times he even leaves one to smash/eat when we do get home
  10. i would say do a lot of research, speak to breeders , go to dog shows, find a dog that suits your lifestyle and personality I have a bullmastiff, my first one and i love him He has a real laid back personality, great with kids and people He looks intimidating, barks at strangers when they approach the house but starts wiggling excitidly when they get to the gate so ......dont think he would pass as the best guard dog
  11. Sorry should of added, has anyone boarded there and any feedback on what it is like
  12. Has anyone boarded there dog at terrigal pet resorts or know anyone who has?? Any feedback??
  13. I can highly recommend playhouse at wyee. My 4 1/2 yr old bullmastiff is a little cautious on things, but there he actually drags us in and we have to incourage him out!! So that is all we need for confirmation!! :) They have not a bad size run, but a large play area and he sleeps for 2days straight afterwards!! Best to do an inspection before hand though ,so you feel happy where ever you decide on
  14. Only my first experience with a bullmastiff Previously i have owned 2 rottweilers, male and female, they were beautiful dogs but on the intense side.... When i lost them both to cancer, but at the ages of 11 and 12, i opted to do some research and came acrss the bullmastiff. I am soooo in love!!! My boy is now 4 1/2 yrs old and he is the best dog ever!! We have had a few issues.... Hips ,arthritis, sensitve skin....quirky behaviours but would do it all again and again and cant wait for another bullmastiff in the future sweet gentle nature, quirky in every way, happy and easy to train, happy to explore or snuggle on the couch Good luck with your decision
  15. Yes would agree that registration, microchipping, insurance etc has been transferred so there is no future issues doctor david lidbetter at parramatta looked after my boy when he had hip & athritis issues and the results were amazing. We also had a friend use him with great results also. Dr rob?? Who works with the rspca at newcastle for behaviour issues was also amazing and he might be able to help you over the phone in the short term if time is an issue. My bullmastiff is quite content with a trampoline bed, foam mattress with blankie and sleeps 23hrs :) :) out of the day (proved with video footage) Good quality food, greenies, daily walks around the block and lots of tlc and cuddles makes my boy pretty content Good luck and all the best as a new family for the future
