  1. He is a happy little thing. Apparently he is approx 10 months old. Goodness only knows what 'breeds' might be in there. I don't care a bit. He is the ultimate scruffer. He is around 18kg... a very sturdy little guy about the size of a medium/average female cattle dog.

He has plenty of training and learning ahead of him but he is quite manageable to start with, all things considered.

I took him out to the old property to meet Mr.Shivers, the little Chi X Iggy I left with my ex when I moved out. I really wasn't sure how he would react to the flea size pocket rocket. We walked up and down the fence for a while before going into the yard on lead. Mr.Shivers growled fiercely and lunged and carried on and to my absolute delight this guy didn't bat an eyelid, just got himself out of snatch range and play bowed incessantly just trying to make friends despite Mr.Shivers being a snappy little turnip. After a while I was pretty confident that my guy wasn't going to do anything aggressive despite Mr.Shivers carry on. So I let him off and he was so excellent. Mr.S kept reacting but my guy just kept up efforts to make friends and play bow at a respectful distance and did not once try to jump on Mr.S or whack him with a paw or anything. We all sat down and supervised and after almost an hour Mr.S finally gave up and had a short play, which i knew all along is what he really wanted to do. The little snot just had to make sure he was in charge first! I was so pleased with my guy. I think I finally have a dog that will get along super good with playful dogs!

Sorry you are all going to get sick to death of seeing this dog!

  2. They are simply gorgeous photos of a very good looking dog skyefool!

Does this gorgeous dog have a name?

    T.

No he doesn't. At the moment he has a 2 week trial period with me. I have such mixed emotions about becoming a full time dog owner again. If he is good and my conscience doesn't get the better of me he will need a name.

I saw Diddles & the Bobster a couple of weeks ago and I know in my heart that they can never come home. They are as happy as pigs in mud and I must not stand in the way of it.

I have a good feeling about this little guy. We'll see.

  3. I left the damned camera home last week (i work/stay away from home 4 days a week). I finally picked it up again yesterday

......well hello there, who are you? (sorry crap picture taken in bed of a dog that is petrified of the clicks whizzes and lights of the camera!)

and after some seriously intense training and a whole bag of liver treats we are a little more comfortable with the camera :)

And feeling a little more at home

  4. I only shot one dog this week! A baby puppy for her first haircut.

And this little visitor right outside the front door of the salon kind of sums life up at the moment...... Hanging by a thread!

  5. bugs and lizards would be my favourites. I just went for a walk over to the river and kind of ended up in a dead tree with my face an inch from a bee hive with bees all over me!

And sat quietly until the Superb wrens came close. Not really great pictures but these little birds flit around at a gazillion miles an hour, are extremely shy and never still. I have never been able to get so close to them. Some baby ones out tonight.

and OMG look at the size of the Ladybug I spotted in the Passionfruit vine!!

sorry all a bit boring but that was the first time i'd walked across the road to the river in MONTHS!

  6. As one who has almost zero to do with grooming , I find it interesting to see these before & after shots :) thankyou.

    So do I!

If you want, you are welcome to bring your camera when we finally manage to meet up for that walk! You can practice taking photos of Polly, she doesn't move that fast! :D

Harley i *might* finish at a reasonable hour on Wed/Thur/Frid next week. I will have to check the diary but i reckon I only have a 7pm-er on Tuesday this week.

for anyone interested in my before & after its a bit of a bore but look

    here

  7. These are my favourites but they're probably all wrong for all sorts of reasons! Oh well. Now i am sitting here trying to work out why i just took a bunch of pictures of nothing. Duh! I think I should go and eat something today instead of coffee......

    Could you answer this question?

Did you take those fine photos for yourself or for someone else?

Have a small piece of chocolate with that coffee.

    Your photos are working.

    Trust yourself.

    I really don't know :grimace:

  8. Ok....

    Those pics are fine :)

LOVE the one in #35 bee & passionflower :D

also adore the "outtake"!! And the ?Bichon? Cute terrier , too ....

More, please ...you do good work .

yes a Bichon with a short trim & looong ears! this is her before shot

and the out take girl looking a little more civilised in her 7# special, as she is moving to Darwin...

  9. OK I will leave it today with some snaps I took of dogs during the week. This is really the main thing I want to use the camera for, but I am struggling to make the images light enough, what I mean is they seem too dark.

    and an out take.... haha!

  11. I have never used editing software? I just have iPhoto on my vintage MacBook ('07!) I know i need to upgrade my computer too! It's so slow now that its quite annoying. I crop most of my photos but thats about it. I dont confess to know anything about editing.

I have gone outside and played with it a bit this morning. I know the taking a gazillion shots to get something half decent. I took over 50 photos of Crestie on Thursday and dont think I got anything, and on Tues I took over 100 shots of the 8 dogs I groomed, and again, nothing really! I just took about 100 pictures of a couple of passionfruit flowers in my yard. I will see what i have.....

  12. Err, I used to have a client who had a beautiful though slightly nutty and extremely dog aggressive Bull Terrier tell me they wanted a miniature staffy next. Upon quizzing them, I deduced what they actually wanted was a Staffordshire Bull Terrier because they thought they were miniature versions of Am. Staffs.

    People have no clue!

I have heard about eight different breeds referred to as "bullies" and 2 different breeds referred to as 'staffies' .....it's almost impossible to know what is going on.

Eta....and for me, a 'bully' will always be a Bull Terrier , and a "staffy" will always be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

  13. Thank you everyone.

I really want to go forth and shoot lots of things, but here I am still in bed at 10 am on a glorious morning, literally forty steps away from the river, but battling with my demons about leaving the house today. Compounding the problem is my incomprehsible fear of looking stupid while I try to master something new. As I say, I literally live across the road from the river, and I have been wanting for years to get a kayak and go exploring, but holding me back is the fear of looking pretty ridiculous while I try to get it and me into the river for a start. Just leaving the house this morning is feeling like an insurmountable task because of my fear of being looked at at all.

I HAVE to go take the salon towels to the laundry so hopefully i will feel a bit braver once I get out of the house

  14. Right now I wish I hadn't got the bloody thing. I have spiraled into a depression of being a complete idiot and the fog is taking it's toll. I will try to think clearly and practice on the weekend. It might be FTAGH by next week! I certainly won't be posting any pictures. The ones posted here are soooo bad I'm ashamed. :mad

  15. WooHoo ... looking forward to seeing lots of photos :)

haha be careful what you wish for! I just came home and switched on my lounge room light and saw that my little friend that hangs out on the glass above my front door was out tonight. I usually watch his belly from inside the house but tonight I thought I would go out on the verandah and try to 'capture' the beastie......

and this is where I start all the self doubt and bow out before I bore everyone to sleep.
