  1. thanks, will see how we go! His food was set to increase next month on the pro plan anyway, looking at the packet, its from 4 mths with pro plan and 3 mths on this food, so would be similar I guess.
  2. Hi I am in the process of switching my pup from pro plan to holistic select. I was just checking the packets and the amount of cups for his weight is quite different, he will be having a LOT more of the holsitic select? Is this usual for different foods? he struggled to eat all the pro plan when I accidentally doubled the amount in thebeginning due to a typo on breeders instructions, not sure how he will eat that amount on the holisti select!
  3. Thanks, he likes tuna and salmon at the moment but have bought sardines as dont like him eating too much tuna :) I like to give him fish a few times a week. I feed it with sardines once a week
  4. Hi, can you add fish instead of meat to some of the puppies meals? or is it ONLY meat?
  5. Thanks :) thats why I am following her recmendations, just the pro plan wanting to change, which is new to her too as she is also trying it. She has also mentioned looking into Black hawk. I have started switching to Holistic select slowly as prefer the ingredients and will keep feeding the half raw as she does. I will wait until 9-12 mths as she told me to switch to full raw, then it will be VAN and raw meat/bones :) I think given she was so adamant about it I would probably trust that she knows her lines and go with that. You can still feed partially raw. I've not ever fed what the breeder has fed but only because the dogs I have were fed inferior diets when I got them ie coles dry food, pal, weetbix and milk etc. But if a breeder were to be already feeding a quality diet and has shown some knowledge in what their dogs do well on then I would be inclined to listen and somehow incorporate their feeding recommendations in to their diet.
  6. The breeder has said that she does NOT want him fully fed raw until at least 9 mths and was pretty adamant about it..

    Samoyed

    He is growing FAST :)
  8. I have heard its false and it doesnt work that way. I have read its bone you shouldnt feed but raw meat itself is just fine. My breeder has fed raw and kibble for her show dogs for a long time and my pup was raised this way. He has 2 meals a day of mixed kibble and raw meat. (his 3rd meal breakfast is kibble and lactose free milk)
  9. I also add raw in which so far he has had, beef strips, tuna, salmon, beef mince, chicken and turkey mince.. ( not all together) I will add a whole egg this afternoon and fresh yoghurt :) i am planning to switch to VAN when he is around 1 anyway :)
  10. Hi, I would not feed royal canin but thanks anyway ;) I bought a bag of Holistic select today and they were great and said if he didnt eat it I can return it. I will slowly switch him over as I dont like a few of the ingredients in Pro plan, expecially corn and soy and by products. So will see how we go :) Thanks so much everyone :)
  11. Thank all :) I may stick with pro plan for now or may try holistic select :)
  12. Very interesting thanks... Going by all that I will stick with interceptor and use every 4/ 6 weeks :) will check with the vet :) We live in semi rural with lots of cows, sheep, dogs and other animals about. I feed half raw and he eats everything! I also have young kids, so not taking any chances... It's also hot and humid where we live too. Well in the summer! Thanks so much everyone x
  13. It does treat tapeworm? Interceptor Spectrum Tasty Chews prevent heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) and control roundworm (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina), whipworm (Trichuris vulpis), hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinariastenocephala) and adult tapeworm (Echinococcus granulosus, Dipylidium caninum, Taenia pisiformis) in dogs. http://ah.novartis.com.au/pethealth_products/interceptor_spectrum_tasty_chews.html/section/469 Did the recommending vet tell you that Interceptor does NOT treat tapeworm? I prefer to give Drontal every three months to deal with all intestinal worms and a separate monthly heartworm preventative (I use Proheart) for heartworm.
  14. Oh and the vet recommended it but didn't sell it to me, I sourced it elsewhere. They stock all the wormers and heartworm.
  15. Thanks :) I think I read white feet do not treat or something like that, regarding ivermectin but other sources say its safe! It's hard to know. I know the breeder uses drontal, but said to go by what my vet says. I will use the interceptor tomorrow then I have a mth to decide :)
  16. It was recommended by the vet. He is a artic breed.
  17. No, they said check with the vet. The vet says interceptor is the best. Just checking as don't want to over dose . I would rather use the safe heart wormer even though he isn't a collie as I read article breeds should also avoid it, cannot remember where I read it though, been reading lots of info :)
  18. Thanks. I guess I will just use interceptor monthly for everything :) Thank you for checking the packet xxxxx
  19. Thanks. I read a report saying that it takes 3 mths to grow and would kill it anytime in that 3 mths, so monthly is overkill? will look into it more :) This is what I was reading, not sure how accurate though... will ask the vet :) http://terriermandotcom.blogspot.com.au/2008/05/billion-dollar-heartworm-scam.html you need to give heartworm preventative more then every 3 months. I do my dogs every 6 weeks from April through to October then monthly.
  20. Hi its the chews I was going to buy? the supplier only sells the tablets for small or medium dogs..
  21. thank you :) Don't forget, if you go on any raw food website, they'll cane you for feeding ANY kibble. If you want to try an Australian made kibble that contains no grains, the Advance Turkey and Rice might be a go when your dog is older. I gather its very palatable.
  22. ok thanks so much :) Going to give the interceptor tomorrow but wanting to order drontal for next month :)
  23. It would actually be cheaper to buy the 35 kg one and use half, it works out less per tablet, is this safe to do?
  24. thanks :) He was 10.64 kg just under a week ago, so probably around 11.5kg... maybe so will 1.5 tablets be OK? ?
