  1. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on her training techniques etc? Feel free to pm if you prefer :)I dont want sledging or any nastiness I have a lesson coming up but being a newbie I just want to make sure im heading in the right direction with the right trainer.
  2. I think it encourages good acceptance to change and good adaptability. I often go and stay at my parents place with my puppy and would have no qualms leaving her with them or her breeder for a week (shes 11weeks old). My family has 6 other dogs all ranging in size and age including another puppy 6weeks older than my girl and they have the best of fun but shes also had to learn to leave my 14yr old Welsh Springer Spaniel alone at sleep time. I feel all great experiences for her even if the training is not as conformed as it is here lol its all a little more relaxedddd at home. The house is also a lot busier with people constantly coming and going so yet another positive.
  3. The head bit is where im coming unstuck....just cant get her under the chin right, she still turns her head. Oh my what I would give for a show horse right now lol so much easier! Although she did some lovely stacking today in front of the cement trucks I was using for desensitisation...I did get a few funny looks from the work men who im sure were wondering why I was sitting on the edge of a construction site in front of two large cement trucks playing tug-o-war with a puppy  ( its ok we were in a safe non traffic area.
  4. The breeder can stack her easily. Show training is not starting again till the start of July so nothing till then Im looking at going to Camarna Kennels for a lesson or two in the mean time, just waiting to hear back from them.
  5. Well for those who dont know me yet I have just bought my first show puppy after owning many 'pet' dogs over the years with my family. Since getting my girl I have been training her (and myself lol) for the ring with the guidance of her amazing breeder who has been beyond helpful. I've been working on stacking, lead work and now she can go out, lots of desensitisation. But I just cant get the stacking right. She wriggles and worms everywhere, turns around, sits down, falls over you name it she tries it. We do eventually get 1-2 good 'stacks' or im not sure what its called then I leave the session there on a good note. I just feel slightly useless as I watch her breeder stacks my girls brothers and sisters and they are so well behaved and stack beautifully and yet I have sooo much trouble. Most of all I dont want to stuff my girl up by letting her learn bad habits because I couldn't get it right Pulling my hair out at times but LOVING it 90% of the time!!
  6. Castle Hill is starting up again end of june poocow :) but I would call to make sure exactly when.
  7. Thankyou sas I will look into it Does anyone else have any other suggestions? Happy to travel up to 1hr.

  10. Coming from the horse world; if were entering a multiple day competition we just pay a one off catalogue fee and the catalogue covers all days. Is this the same with the dogs or do I pay two catalogue fees if the show runs over two days? Also can someone run me thru how you enter online - just a rough overview. I have a 3month old bitch so she will be in the Baby puppy bitch class 1a if im right?
  11. An update for anyone interested in Miss Willows going on's. She has slept through the past 2 nights...yippee!! wearing her big girl pants indeed :) She now doesn't make a peep through the night and is even silent 95% of the time in her play pen which compared to the first few days of screaming is a huge difference. The second crate I got from K9Pro is AMAZING!! Love the door system which is good because at first I was unsure about it but its actually great!! I was really lucky that the breeders booklet I got went through all the crate training and having a separate playpen etc so I was very prepared before we got her in that way....thankfully. The breeder also let me ask her a million questions some of them 2 or 3 times! Today I had my first what im guessing may become multiple phone consults with Steve from K9Pro and it was great! He was easy to talk to, informative and seemed to be a wealth of knowledge. He helped me a bit with both my dogs and I now have somethings to work on till our face to face lessons in June.
  12. I fear with great difficulty  She already has me buying her everything a puppy could ask for
  13. Thanks, I have found one on Petcetera. There is an Aeolus brand I can get from Oz Grooming there are also tables on Pet Network and Clipper World Has anyone had any experience with any of these?
  14. As the title suggests I already have the grooming arm I just need a table (long story but I got some birthday money and my friend who gave it to me suggested I buy a grooming table with it) but I want a nice secure/level one that is hard wearing...I dont want to have to replace it after 6-12months. I also want a really good non-slip surface on it that will last. It will be kept outside but undercover. Any suggestions?
  15. Thankyou so much everyone, I am combining a few techniques I think to tackle the toilet issue. Firstly from one of Steve's K9Pro articles he says (if I have this right - I may have gotten it wrong so dont take this a gospel)... you take the dog out from its crate and give it 10minutes to go to the toilet if it goes then you wait 2 hrs till next bringing it out to go again (this is the timing) within the two hours is sleep time in the crate, play time and training time. If the dog doesn't go to the toilet in the allotted 10minutes you put the dog back in the crate and bring it out in another 40minutes and try again and continue this until the dog goes, you then have your starting point and then can start the 2hourly timing. You also toilet your dog after feeding through the day as normal. With this I am also using a trigger word 'toilet' which I am repeating to her when ever she is on the grass and its time for her to 'go'. When she is actually going I say 'good girl willow, toilet, good girl, toilet, good girl willow, toilet etc then I call her over when she is done and she receives big pats and lots of praise. I dont have her on a lead at the moment as the one time I had her on a lead she fought me on it constantly and became very anxious and I need her to associate the lead as very positive thing (for her showing) so Im going to wait till she is more established on the lead. I will get help from Steve with regard to this. She also resolved her crying in the pen herself, she just needed more time it seems to settle into her new home. She still cries occasionally but only for a little then she just puts herself to sleep :)
  16. I can only comment from a pet owners perspective of owning a Welshies as a child but my girl is coming up for 14yrs old in July is the most loyal dog I have ever known. From memory she is all Australian lines but I can not be certain for sure. We purchased her from a show breeder in Kurrajong NSW. She is only trained with simple commands but would do anything for me. She is definitely a one dog owner and although loves going to other people for attention will come straight back to me at the smallest murmur no food required and I have never needed any to train her, no toys either she just loves working with me as I love working with her. She is the kind of dog that if im 20m away from her thats too far apart so she comes lies at my feet or follows me around the kitchen or house for the whole day and everyday after that. She is a true shadow. Health wise we touch wood have never had a single problem with her up till now and for almost 14 years that is a pretty good run! She has an incredible nose, if her eyes cant find me her nose always does. She is always happy unless I am not around then she sits at the top of the driveway sun, wind or rain waiting for me to come home. Only problem we have had was when we moved her and my other dog into our new house and she developed real separation anxiety when ever I left the house lucky we found a solution so everyone and especially my girl is happy. So there is my little bit of story, I dont know if its of any use but might be
  17. Yes Im always with her when she is outside and I am expecting her to 'go', even if I then leave her outside I always wait until she has finished so I can reward her. Unfortunately she hates her pen and cries non stop when she is in it even with toys, bed & snuggle puppy etc. She is much happier just roaming around the living room. I have been persevering with the pen for the last 6days, should I continue to pen her or leave it now? It would be so much easier if I could pen her!
  18. Trust me everything will go through Steve! :) I dont think she is anywhere near bad enough to need them but it's interesting to learn about them a bit more.
  19. I just took her out and kept repeating go wee's then she did a poo lol but all the same thing I guess? Then she got lots of cuddles and scratches and some treats! Have I got the right idea?
  20. I would never travel a dog in the front seat period. Projectile is all i can think whether the air bags are activated or not. I will admit I dont have the best set up for car travel but I do the best I can. The new puppy is in a wire crate and my cocker spaniel is in a harness strapped in on a dog bed behind the drivers seat. Unfortunately I cant fit 2 crates inside my car as I only have an Accord. I just dont get how people can endanger their supposedly 'most loved and precious' family members?
