Thanks for the update, and the pics.   Scout and Chase are both absolutely lovely.   And good luck with keeping him a little bit calm.  Don;t know if you have any, but my favourite go to for stiffed frozen, are WestPaws Toppls.   They wash and freeze really well, and the smaller size fits on top of and just inside the larger size .. and they have sort of vanes that you can tuck small bits into.   My BCs find them much more attractive and easy to get at than the Kongs.

Thanks I’ll check it out. He’s actually trying to eat his lickimat and I got the “tough” version. I ended up giving him a fallow strap to chew and I just watch to make sure he’s not being too vigorous with it

How he's grown!! Such a good-looking lad :):) Thanks for the new photos - lovely to see him thriving . Did the vet send any meds home, or was it just one injection?

They sent home loxicom which he has once a day. She said to give it  for 4 days and then have a trial day without giving it to see whether we need to continue. Ever since he started it he has been his old self completely!

Chase is so very cute and is going to be such a handsome dog. Scout is just beautiful too. What a good looking pair of doggos you have.

Thanks, I think they are pretty darn gorgeous. Scout is such a lovely girl and Chase looks headed towards being a sweet and balanced adult dog. He loves everyone and he’s not even dog obsessed, he can say hi to another dog or just ignore them happily

Just remember that in a couple of weeks he'll be teething... make sure he has plenty of things he's allowed to chew ready to go, OK?

Yeah, we have heaps, he is a big chewer already. Right now he’s chewing a kong.
we have already moved our outdoor setting under our carport because he was eating it!!! It was in the “safe” outdoor space so it had to move

  5. We are back to the vet at 11 this morning. He seems fine this morning, running around with Scout which makes this more confusing. Yesterday morning he was the same, seemed fine and then went downhill as the day progressed.

I managed to record an incident of his yelping as he tried to get up and I’ll show the vet. I feel as though if it were an injury, it would be persistent and not up and down like this. I just don’t know.

I think I’ll have them take bloods and will see what happens

growing pains maybe. Dogs do get them. Panosteitis

Interesting. Thanks for sharing that. He isn’t limping, I feel like it’s more in his neck or back but who knows. My main concern is how sleepy he is. He literally is sleeping 22 hours out of 24. He has wanted to play a bit today but not enthusiastically as usual. He has eaten and drank normally. I just wish I could find a way to worry less :hitself:

  7. Hi everyone, vet was stumped and mostly unconcerned. Couldnt replicate any pain through musculoskeletal manipulation and couldn’t feel anything going on in his tummy. His temp was slightly up but the vet said it wasn’t a fever and it could be the car ride, the hot day etc

Hes been eating today but also sleeping a lot. He’s yelped a few more times, most often when he tries to get up after laying still for a long while. We are just watching and waiting at this stage.

I wish he would just be his old self.

  8. Poor little Chase has me puzzled.

    this is a long story....

Scout had suspected Norovirus a fortnight ago and was treated with metronidazole. She was fine within a couple of days.

Chase became very flat late last week and had a couple of soft stools and vomited once, at the same time he developed a rash on his belly and seemed itchy.

we discovered that he had found a very tricky way to get into our raised garden and lay in the rhoeo, so we ripped out the rhoeo on the weekend. His rash went within 2 days and he seemed well again.

In hindsight I think something has been slightly off for the whole week. He has been eating and drinking and playing but has started to be reluctant to get up in the morning, just laying in his crate and sometimes making me pick him up.
day before yesterday hubby commented that he yelped coming up our front step into the house and he slept a LOT on Wednesday but had a great appetite so I figured he was doing some growing.

yesterday he refused his kibble from the bowl but would eat it from the treat cube. He wanted to sleep yesterday and definitely seemed quieter than usual. After sleeping for a while, if he would try to move he would yelp, once he seemed to really hurt when he tried to get up but in between he was happy and moving fine. I have felt him all over and cannot find a tender spot. I’ve checked inside his mouth, between his toes, applied pressure to his back and neck and no reaction.

there has been no vomiting, his stools are normal, the only other weird thing is that he walked over to Scout last night and relieved himself on her and her bed and woke me up this morning seeing in his crate ( he has never ever done that).

we have a vet appointment at 10am, he was meant to get his final vax but I imagine we will hold off on that.

he got up and wanted to play this morning, bouncing about. Didn’t want his bowl of kibble but ate quite a lot when I rolled it along the floor and he chased it, he got the zombies and tore around, jumped on his bed and went to sleep.

im stumped but also going through PTSD worry again!!!!!

Thanks for the update   he seems to be doing VERY well :)
Pity Scout didn't snap - that's how pups learn! A decent snap/snarl, = lesson learned.
Great photo of you both, too :)

Scout does have a bit of a growl at him but all the while she’s looking at us as if she might get in trouble. I kind of wish she would tell him off too, he can be a real pest to her.

outside Scout get up on the outdoor lounge and so far Chase can’t reach her so he just stands and barks.

  10. I haven’t checked in for a little while, this little fella is full of life and keeping me very busy. He is healthy and growing well.

we are slowly working on training, he knows sit, shake, speak, touch and going very well with loose lead walking. Today we started a trip down our long driveway past one neighbours house and back with no pulling at all.

Im still a bit afraid of him eating random things but am becoming more relaxed.
Chase annoys Scout a lot more than Kane ever did, Chase is far more bitey whereas Kane licked a lot. So we try to keep him away from her most of the time, unless he is calm and sleepy. Poor Scout looks at us for help but doesn’t snap, she’s such a sweet girl.

anyway, here is an up to date snap of Master Chase..... and yours truly.

I was so excited but then saw that it is tonight and he isn’t fully vaccinated yet. Such a shame because we are about to register for our first show on the 24th october. Something like this would be invaluable!

he has his vax booked for tomorrow.

i have no idea what I’m doing but just going with the plan that I will try to make it fun for him.
do people use treats in the ring?

and what the heck do I wear

  12. Thanks so much everyone ;)

the boiled chicken breast seems quite good for him. I might look at dehydrating some myself.

im well familiar with SPD rolls thanks to Kane but haven’t used them as treats.

i will look i to the tripe m, can’t say I’ve seen it! I’m so relieved he is ok today. It’s my birthday

  13. He’s fine :champagne:

running around happily and being naughty!

hes eaten some Boiled chicken breast and a very small amount of dry food and kept it down for a couple of hours.
he’s had a normal bowel motion and is perfectly happy *exhale*
thanks everyone, it’s going to be an emotional journey I think.

  14. Our new little fella Chase has been settling in well, sleeping well at night and sleeping lots in the day with lots of fun little play times and some training.

yesterday was the first day he ate a lot at his meals but he has been eating reasonably the whole time.
this morning while training Chase to a) stay on his bed and b) walk loosely on lead he ate quite a lot of liver treats in tiny pieces and some boiled chicken breast. I went to the shops and left him in a “safe” space outside with nothing he could eat except maybe a few dried gum leaves or some tiny pieces of bark (it’s a tiled outdoor area).

he was fine when I came home but tired (I was gone for about 30 minutes and my husband was here working, he peaked out at him periodically and sad he wasn’t distressed at all).

he was tired so I put him in the crate and he had a nap. After maybe 40 minutes he vomited in his crate, looked like most of his breakfast with a few darker hard pieces in it, possibly liver treats or little pieces of bark mulch. He wasn’t too bothered and ran around and played afterwards, then had a massive drink of water. I have him a very small amount of lunch and took him outside to the toilet where he vomited his lunch.

he really wanted to re-eat it. There was nothing but food in his vomit and I took him inside and out him in his crate where he is sleeping soundly.

i seriously think I have ptsd from Kane, so far I have not seen chase try to eat anything inappropriate except for leaves which he seems not to want to consume but just chew. I am now super stressed and if he vomited again we are off to the vet but just wanted to ask people......... is it normal for a healthy puppy to just vomit because of too many treats or something similar?
    I’m freaking out!!!!!!

  15. It’s a small progress but it’s so nice. Until just now Chase has been annoying to Scout and I have had to keep him away from her unless she felt like playing, then this happened
