It's me again ...... because this slipped onto page 2. "... you're out there to win ..."

Thanks, Mita - your continued support and encouragement is much appreciated by all the people here in Victoria who have been and are demonstrative in pro-active endeavours to stop more erroneous laws compounding the already erroneous (and un-policed) dog laws that we already have in place. When you get caught up in the many of our senseless and futile and unfair laws, sometimes it is hard to breathe.

I agree Casster17. In fact, the few pollies who I have been in contact with (face to face/verbally) are nice. What they will actually do and how much they'll work to understand what we need and go into bat for us for it, remains to be seen. Like you, I live in hope.

*bump* Eighteen!!

The things that I have read and heard have all indicated that we have changed much the physical appearance of our our dogs, but not the digestive system. That's why I'm interested to know where Sas has derived her information that tells her what "evolution has done to the digestion process of dogs now compared to dogs then". I'd like to look at that but I haven't found anything or much to support that. So not a challenge, Sas, but when you said "you only have to look" I presume from that you know of sources (links?) from studies that demonstrate this and I'd be really interested to read them.

Well done, A&J. I couldn't reach Trisven13 when I rang on Tuesday night (and don't think I had your contact info) so I rang Steve and she mentioned the meeting went well. Good for you for making this effort and for taking the time out to not only arrange but to meet with an MP about it . Glad that people have been sending in their objections - their voices need to be heard well. Now it's a matter of whether the Government shows it has 'ears' for the actual people it is appointed to hold office for, or not. Luke Donnellan MP has emailed me to let me know he's going to seek the reasoning for parts of act as discussed. Not sure quite what that means. I know the Government's reasoning .......... it's just that its reasoning is skewed and off target. I know the reasoning of our current laws (don't agree with much of them either - they were flawed and already proven failed laws in the first place) but they aren't even properly policed and it seems to me that when they are, it's upon the responsible dog owners, not the real offenders for whom these laws were created in the first place. And then of course there's the other law (which has been the subject of much of my attention in the not so distant past) which bans the use of a collar which has never been recorded as having caused harm to dogs. But I will wait for Mr. Donnellan's response. In the meantime ..... yes, please - write your letters, those who haven't. Even a short letter to let the Government know you're aware of the proposed Bill (which does NOT JUST relate to "dangerous dogs" as defined by law - it relates to ALL and ANY dogs) and that you object to them for all the reasons that they (the Govt) have already been made aware of.

Mita - thanks for the link you sent via PM. To all Victorians - yep, I sound like a broken record. I'm kinda sorry about that, but hey .... even if one more person reads this and is proactive as a result, then I guess it is worth the risk of me becoming ad-nauseoum (sp? sorry - too tired to check) with the *bumps* and reminders . "... fly like an angel ..."

I Was Robbed This Afternoon - Dogs Were Home!
Erny replied to megan_'s topic in General Dog Discussion
She was posting yesterday morning (I checked up on her, because I got a bit concerned too) in another thread (can't remember where). So I do expect she is fine and possibly hasn't realised her thread is ongoing. -
What has evolution done to the digestion process of dogs now, compared to dogs then?
-
Doesn't MDBA already have a running list of breed/afflictions?
-
Reminder : Three working days to go before the beginning of the week in which the proposed Bill is scheduled for debate.

That, and/or his maturation phase (testing), and/or that it has been colder and he'd rather not go outside ....... or a combination of all three.

I received a phone call from Mr. Luke Donnellan MP (State Member for Narre Warren North), this evening, asking me if I had any concerns I would like to discuss with him. "Well, as a matter of fact .................... yes " . Mr. Donnellan wasn't completely familiar with the terms of the Bill but after recognising who I was confirmed he had seen my letter/s that I had emailed him (and countless others) in this past couple of weeks. Mr. Donnellan does know me from past contact over other dog-related issues I have consulted with him on. He's asked me to let him familiarise himself with them and start asking questions to see if he can get some answers. I told him it would be lovely if the dog-owning public could have some representation within Government because quite frankly, we're tired of the fact that we don't and that a lot of our unpaid time is taken up with trying to stop erroneous and unfair laws being passed, and then trying to battle the futility and unfairness of them once they come in and that we're tired of the Government handing out unadulterated and unanswerable control to authorities who have a vested interest in seizing and euthanising our pets, and for them, the quicker the better.

Alright. Steady on MM. -
How old is your pup? Did you use toileting mats to 'assist' in toilet training? Is toilet training complete?

What Dried Biscuit Are You Feeding Your Pooch?

Why not seek out the services of a GOOD canine Naturopath? I have my boy with one at the present and have found her excellent not only in her advice and ongoing support in working through my boy's (complicated) issues, but I enjoy the fact that she will work in and around Veterinary reports and recommendations as well (ie takes them into account). The Naturopath should also be able to assist you in ensuring that the natural diet you have your dog on contains the vitamins/minerals that your dog needs and if it doesn't, will be able to offer supplements to balance this. -
That would be fine, Casster17 - maybe with a short covering letter addressed to the radio station and asking them to take an interest in this proposed Bill and the futile impact it is going to have on responsible dog owners and their dogs (ANY breed), highlighting the fact that encompassed in the Bill are laws where the ONLY people who stand to gain are shelters/pounds and the Government from the point of view of increased/faster revenue collection, with no benefit to the community.

That's where you're wrong, MM. I don't "better get used to it". Which is why I'm placing my objection publicly here and I'll place my objection publicly anywhere. I don't "better" anything - I refuse to. I will NOT get used to it. People can do what they want (referencing your comment of genital nicking) if they are consenting adults and I won't argue. But please don't tell me I'd "better get used to it" when it comes to cruel and barbaric animal practices. -

Hi Megan - it is a worry. I'm a little concerned though about how much you are saying on a public forum. Maybe I'm paranoid where you aren't? But be careful. I even thought that when you mentioned you weren't staying at home that night. I don't think that's something that people need or should know. -
No. I've emailed them giving them all the info. though. If other people write in it might show them there's some public interest in it - enough for them to decide to 'pick it up'. Have you written to them, Casster? Or anyone?

On the properly installed ones, the alarms can't be unlawfully removed without the alarm sounding. If the electricity fails, there's a battery back up and there's a safety mechanism that sets off the back to base alarm if an attempt to remove the battery is made. LOL .... and just for the record, I don't have Cartier nor Tiffany jewellery either. -

Glad Fergus and Lucy are ok - that's the main thing, but sorry your home was broken into in the first place. I've had this occur to me and it's more than just what they take - in my case, drawers were left pulled open with their contents strewn around the place. I think they were there when I came home and they bolted out the back. There was evidence that they weren't quite finished. My privacy felt quite violated. First things first and make sure to change the locks - and perhaps invest in a security alarm system. Back to base ones are best, if you can afford it. Perhaps camera surveillance of some sort too? Again, this depends on affordability. I hope you managed to get the Rego number of the van to give to the Police and I hope that you manage to recover you TV and that karma catches up with these people. -
Yeah - I agree. That's why I mentioned "digestive problems" as well as allergies. Thanks for the explanation of possibilities. I wonder if, for some dogs who can't tolerate commercial diets, it's the "meat meal" component that could be contributing. I always thought of "meat meal" as being the 'rubbish swept off the processing plant floor' so I appreciate the explanation in previous post. You learn something new every day, huh? It is such a complex topic and yes, it is so individualistic.
