  1. Don't feel guilty, just (as others have said), make sure you purchase from a reputable breeder.

I have 3 pedigree whippets, and will always have one, but I have to say I get a great feeling when I look at my rescue greyhound enjoying her life of leisure.

My whippets have never known any other life, they have always been spoilt :) I guess, but to Ebony every day seems to be a joy, I think she thinks, she has died and gone to heaven. :D

That gives me so much pleasure.

  2. I was listening to the radio this morning and a lady rang up and said that the best tip for stopping flies from entering your house was to fill a zip lock bag with water and peg it onto your screen door.

She swears that it works, she was told this remedy by an old lady..........

I'm going to try it, but since my screen door is a security door with crimsafe I am finding it hard to attach the bag to the door. I have a dog door in the screen door, and although I have plastic strips hanging over the opening, the flies come inside, so I will persist until I find a way to attach the bag and test it out.

  3. I would like to be able to attach the strap from the harness to the child safety seat anchor point, the dogs do not get as tangled up as the strap goes straight up over the back of the seat into the anchor point.

We had this in our last car which was a Commodore sedan, I now have a station wagon with the anchor points on the back of the seats, so it would still work well, but I am unable to buy the straps with the correct catch to clip onto these anchor points.

Does anyone know if it is possible to buy these clips ?

  4. My 14 1/2 year old whippy is suffering with her shoulders, she is on Joint Guard, and having Cartrophen monthly, and I am about to start her swimming in a heated pool at one of the Vets here in Adelaide.

After reading about Ester-C I am wondering if that could help her too, I googled and there are quite a few brands out there, can anyone recommend one?

The one SBT suggested is overseas, I would like to start it asap, so don't want to wait for that to arrive.

    TIA, Trish

  5. I have been plodding along, taking Ebony, the grey for her 20 min walks, and have taken my 14 1/2 year old whippy Skye to the beach on her own for a little walk and paddle which she enjoyed, I have bought one of those 'dreaded' extenda leads for her as she is deaf and gets a bit disorientated, so I keep her on that lead while on the beach, and then change back to the martingale.

Then I have taken the other 2 whippies to the lead free beach for a good run and play.

I wish I had another pair of hands so I didn't have to do it all in shifts, I do it this way just in case I meet a loose dog which causes a problem, mine would be no trouble to walk together, but there is always the unknown, and couldn't protect them all.,
