  1. Thats good news!!! If she is unwell - she may not feel like eating just us humans!!!! I hope she is better today and ont he road to recovery!!!
  2. I hope everything is OK????? I dont think you are being melodramatic at all - I would have taken her to the vets there and then and made them see to her. Only a dog - only your friend!!!! It is always a dreadful when things happened to our furry friends. I really hope that it is something that can be dealt with and fixed!!! (Could she have swalled something that got stuck???) Please let us know when you can what happened, what is wrong with her and how she is....................Good Luck!!!
  3. I knew tomateos are no good - too acidic. My two will wipe their bottoms, in pain, the day after if they happen to eat a tomatoe anything so I avoid it. Grapes are not too good for humans either - they are very hard to digest apparently.
  4. I have always given my dogs apples?????? No ill affect here????
  5. Mind you a week later - he got into my cupboard at work and ate a whole flake chocolate bar and threw up everywhere and was green for a few hours. But that didn't cure him from chocolate at all!
  6. Yeap possum poo is a big one!!! Texas poisoned himself on it when he was about 6mths old. He always use to eat the poo around our garden and never a problem - toehr than me telling him he is not allowed to kiss me ever again! But we went to park in another suburb and he got to a heap of it and shallowed it before I could get it out of his mouth. Within two hours he was so sick - I had to rush him to emergency. I was up all night with him. He was vomiting and pooing blood. It smelt bad. But he got through it and it took several days to recover and now he doesn't go anywhere near any kind of poo!!!! Cured him for life. It was terrible. I will never forget that smell and now if I even remotely smell it - iknow exactly what it means - they have eaten something bad!
  7. Lets hope we can all get some good and helpful info on here!!!
  8. This was suggested and started in another thread so thought I would start one here so that we can gather together info as it is an important issue we all face with our furry friends!!!!
  9. It is not a question of under feeding him, it is a question of keeping him on the lean side rather than the heavier side. If he doesn't want to eat then don't make him. A dog will not starve itself. Big dogs bodies are under alot of stress growing and developing and if his soft bones have to grow while they are carrying a heavy weight it can cause damage. The damage that occurs in pup as they grow oftern doesn't show up til they are older and one minute you have a healthy dog, the next at four or five they have problems. It is more about being sensible and on the safe side and remembering and treating your puppy as a puppy not as an adult dog. They are babies and they get tired and they will keeping going and get over tired if we as their guardians don't watch over them. I find with a training that it is better to do an exerise (ie sit or drop) two or three times when the puppy does it correctly and is enjoying it then leaving the pup alone than repeating it over and over again til the dog loses interest and is bored and then hates doing it and plays up more next times. Puppy class is more about socialization and the basic training to get you pup started.
  10. I think short walks (20 mins) and supverised play is fine but keep it gentle til they are about 12 months old. Training is also good because making a pup sit three times is just as exhausting to them as a walk. 15 mins of training and some play and 20 walk a day, lots of getting out and about socializing with humans as well as dogs - you will be fine!

The poor littel dear, It is so terrible when things like this happen but we must do the right thing by them. Rest easy that she is up there watching you and waiting for you both, wagging her little tail.

  14. I had the pleasure of meeting Revhead awhile back at one of the shows........and it is a great loss to such a wonderful breed. R.I.P and watch over your family from those green fields in the sky ;)
  15. He was such a beautiful boy!!!
  16. I have Misty and Puddy buried in my garden??? I have never had that it was illegal and the vet never said anything to me about that I couldn't do it. I have had a few animals cremated but it is very expensive as there is only on place in Vic that does it. I always go by how I feel when an animal finally goes. Mind you I told my dad we couldn't move or he couldn't move til they were finally part of the earth. Puddy and Misty were so full of life that it felt right to put them in the earth where they could become part of it again. I agree with rental properties, I think you should let the landowner know what you are doing so what if for some reason they accidentally dug up the poor animal. We have brought a few places over the years that have had little marks when loved ones were buried and we always made sue not to disturb it.
  17. Thank you so much for this Troy. There seems to be alot of our furry friends leaving us at the moment and having a nice place to remember them is so kind. Each animal digs its own place in our heart and I am sending my love to Puddy and Misty who I know are up there together watch over my family. They are friends, now they can chase each other in a place where there is no harm and they will be there when it my turn to meet me with arms open and kisses. To Misty, I only know you for a short time but it felt like you were always with us, it was where you were meant to be and I hope we gave you all the love and security that you missed out on in your life. You definitely put your paw print on our hearts! To Puddy, My dearest darling Puddy who was my guardian and friend for 15 years. It is so strange not having you here talking to me, watching over me and I miss your kisses terribly. I don't have anyone to argue with now but I know you will send me a kitten soon to fill the hole you have left. You had a long and wonderful life full of adventure and you left the same way you came in - fighting! My little warrior.
