  1. Sorry for you loss. May he live forever in your heart and your memories.
  2. How heartbreaking for you. Its so nice that Pippin had a wonderful family to love, care for and spoil him in the last months of his life. Run free Pippin - RIP little one. P.S. Beautiful photos too.
  3. How sad for you but how very special to carry her with you everyday. I am sure she is your guardian angel. May you have eternal rest Molly.
  4. George (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) gets lamb necks now. He used to get lamb shanks but I find that the necks have a bit more for him to "get into" his teeth with - the shanks were too smooth. We have tried beef soup bones but the bone proved too hard for his little jaw - much as he tried!
  5. Julie-Anne, I am so sorry to read that post and very very sad for you all. Jenna will live forever in your heart and in your memories and I have no doubt that she is watching over you. Hugs to you and Michael and family. May you find the light at the end of the tunnel......thinking of you. Run free, without pain sweet Jenna! :D
  6. Wool wash can cause burns on some animals so I would advise against using it or if doing so to use extreme caution. We are going through the same itchy problem with George at the moment and are on an elimination trial. As Suezija pointed out, a lot of animals can also develop a protein allergy and it can happen quite suddenly even after years of being on the same food. Maybe a food elimination trial might help? Other than that the next thing we are trying is to keep George off the grass and see whether this has any effect. I am thinking contact allergy as it seems to be the paws and bottom half of him which is worse. Good luck though - I too, know the frustration of trying to find the source of itching!
  7. Hesapandabear - that was beautiful. I am sitting here crying as I type Julie-Anne, My heart breaks for you and Michael but you are obviously aware and conscious of your beautiful girl and how she is. You will know when it is right. Most vets will come out to your house but it would probably be best to arrange this a few days in advance so that they can make the time to spend with you. They will charge you an at home rate which is much more expensive but then I guess its all relative. I think I would prefer my kids to go in the comfort of their own home if I had the choice. Not sure about your vet but we are able to arrange cremation for our clients so I would ask about that too. I will be cremating because as morbid as it might seem to think about, it will give me something to "talk" to if that sounds right. I am so sad for you guys right now and can only imagine how emotionally torn up you must be. Know that I am thinking of you and sending you lots of :D
  8. Your dog's drives: Prey = 45 Pack = 65 Defense - Fight = 40 Defense - Flight = 25
  9. Julie-Anne, No words of wisdom from me - just a simple for you and Michael and all your "furkids". I know you will do whats best. Thinking of you all.
  10. Sorry to hear that Julie-Anne. RIP Bilby - she knew you loved her and had a wonderful life. May she live forever in your hearts & memories.
  11. Oh Julie-Anne, I was so saddened to read such news about your beautiful girl. What a sad and difficult time you all must be going through. Please know that I am thinking of you and my heart goes out to you all.
  12. My apologies - had you given more information in your initial post I would not have made the mistake of mentioning this. Unfortunately my crystal ball is broken and I actually felt quite offended by this comment. On a general note - if you already have all the information and are trained in nutrition and almost a qualified vet and intent on feeding your dog a vegetarian diet - then why was there a need to post in the first place? Best wishes to you.
  13. Dogs can quite happily sustain being fed a vegetarian diet. Cats are the obligate carnivores and therefore NEED to eat meat. This is a tricky question as pesonally, my dog gets both meat and veg (and LOVES his veg & fruit) although I am also not in the position of being a vegetarian myself and if I was, might have a different view altogether. In my opinion, if you were considering a vegetarian specific diet for your dog, I would be consulting your vet or a pet nutritionist if such a thing exists, prior to starting to make sure that your dog will be getting all the necessary vitamins and nutrients from your proposed diet that he/she would if they were going to have meat included. I don't see any reason why, done responsibly, you can't have a healthy, happy, vegetarian dog!
  14. Its always tick season up here in NQ!
  15. Advantix is about $3 dearer than Frontline give or take but I guess it depends on what store or vet you buy them from. Personally, I think it is money well spent. We live in NQ and since switching to Advantix my George hasn't had a tick on him - which I am very grateful for. It is used in the same way as Frontline - spot on - and you can use it monthly for brown dog tick or fortnightly for paralysis tick. Bayer should have more info on their website but yep, much with anything else compliance is essential. Plus there is a customer care line on the box if you aren't happy.
  16. IMO - no, Frontline is not the best treatment. I switched to Advantix as soon as it came out and haven't had a problem. Each to thei own though - some people find Frontline great so stick with whatever works for you.
