  1. Comparing Pedigree to KFC is going a little far. Thousands of dogs live perfectly fine on pedigree.
  2. The security industry has no standards when it comes to dogs which means a lot of people use trainers which aren't very good. I'd be careful with recommendations from within the industry.
  3. Meh, I'd just fix the fences and see a behaviourist? I'd never kill a dog with dog aggression. I don't like taking the easy way out. I wouldn't even kill my dog for human aggression - I'd manage it.
  4. Dennis sort of proved my point anyway, the amount it radiates by in a collar is negligible.
  5. Denis, I now understand the comparison. But your comparison is still incorrect. The distance at which the current radiates is directly related to the level of power, the e-collar is so low in power (lets use layman terms here) that the distance the power radiates is negligible.
  6. I sure hope not as that would mean he is intentionally misleading people. Tasers can not be compared to any type of electric collar. At all. They are not comparable in the slightest, ohh, well, I guess both use electricity. You could POSSIBLY make a comparison to stun guns but even that is a huge stretch.
  7. Dennis, you either have a very poor understanding of electricity or you are intentionally being vague in order to mislead people.
  8. An XR6T will burn through fuel, a normal XR6 goes through about 14L/100km so the T should do a bit more.
  9. Oh yuck Midol. Too much info . Could you not have just said "I wasn't well last night" ??? ..... hope you're feeling better now though. Lmao, I could have but that wouldn't have been as effective!
  10. Yeah, that's what I meant. Sorry - was up all night spewing up so I am a little tired (No offense taken at all.)
  11. How about you present an argument? Calling my post illogical does nothing other than make me dislike you. Why is it illogical? Just an idea.
  12. Rotty, Just an idea... Any chance you can grab two cheap cotton leads (or something cheap) in 4ft and 6ft then decide what you prefer and then grab a leather lead in the length you liked best?
  13. This is just the way I look at it. The collar is either humane, or it isn't. It's humane imo. Since it is a humane training tool... Why should I use it as a last resort or only on problem dogs? If it was inhumane... I'd never use it, not even on problem dogs.
  14. I can leave it with Mum but I need it with me so I can socialise it and bond - it's the dog I am raising to work. I don't know, if they say no then I'll figure something out. TB: Thanks, if it comes down to it having you pet sit would be better idea than my Mum - she is too, err, soft? Will look into whether that'd be alright and if it is we can discuss it (assuming the NDTF say no.)
  15. Ahhh, yes, I never considered that. If she doesn't respond properly this time I'll email ring the kennel owners to check with them then ring the ndtf. Might be the best way.
  16. Yeah, she replied telling me he is too young for the kennel (even though I said that the caravan park owner gave me permission to keep it with me) so I am awaiting another response. I don't see why I can't take him though but I am still worried.
  17. How old is your dog, Midol? 12 weeks, which is why it either comes or I don't go. I'm not phased about the vaccination issue and he can stay with me so the kennel isn't needed. All I want to do is basically keep him crated and let him out for a run/play with me during lunch or whatever. It's terrible timing, but if I can't take him with me then I'm going to have to move into the block training after this one which costs extra I think.
  18. Personally I would not take your dog at all for the first block. I did and she sat in her crate all week as when you get there you are assigned a dog from their kennels for the week, the only time she got out was when TB's assigned dog got sick and they decided that she could use my dog. They are going to change the booklet to recommend that you only take your own dog to the second block. I have to. It's either I take my dog or I don't go
  19. Does anyone get the idea that a lot of people join DOL and WATCH for threads on e-collars and prongs to pop up? I am starting to think they are Trolls.
  20. Nah, just a 15ft leash - normal one. Used for training but I'll walk mine on it as we're rural and I don't care if the huskies roam a bit to sniff. When on the main road with cars I'll throw the shorter ones on though.
  21. I've got a 2ft, a 5ft, a 6ft and a 15ft (coming.) Never use the 2ft with the sibes, I'll probably use my long line to walk them :S
  22. BARF = biologically appropriate raw food? Offal = organs. The chicken frames I feed usually have bits and pieces of organs left in them.
  23. Yeah, except my dog is too young to stay in the kennel Those of you who have already been, is there any reason I can't take my dog EVERY DAY and just keep him crated when not using him? Leaving him behind is not negotiable, I HAVE to take him or I don't go.
  24. easier for whom? I don't think desexing and shock collars are comparable. I admire the people in the second video, I didn't watch either for long but they were trying to find a level they felt comfortable with. I do think though a lead might be a better idea, or a fence? Easier to control. Are you telling me that desexing doesn't hurt? The dog feels no pain? Desexing permanently changes a dog, e-collars don't even hurt. BTW, how do you know they don't have a fence? What if they have 2000 acres and like to take their dog with them and want to have a realiable recall from 1-2km away? You can't say a fence or a leash is a better idea when you have no idea of their circumstances.
