  1. Soooo tempted this year... I normally avoid benched shows but would love to go, maybe this year... Would especially loooove to meet the Xolos.

Aloysha we were going to try to do a show between the breed and group at The Roayl in Canberra but sadly I cant find one, I am hoping that we may be lucky enough to get to a few NSW shows this year.

The breed and Group Specials are on the same day at Canberra Royal. If you don't get through to General Specials you can do the Wollongong Shows on Saturday and Sunday

Thanks Havasneeze I worded it wrong, we are at The Sydney Royal and I was looking for a show on the Friday or Sat in April 13th 14th, was looking for a show in Canberra area or Sydney but could not find any, sorry for the confusion.

That time of year is all specialties so no all breed shows on.

Thanks Jumabaar and Alysha, no wont be staying any longer, just the few days for the Royal, gets very expensive travelling with three dogs! Thanks again

  4. wow guys, havent been here for ages, the puppies are so adorable BUT wow I could not believe how quickly they have all grown, good luck with them all and best to the new homes.

We had our import out of quarantine two weeks ago, and quite frankly I am releived we had no puppies, she is indeed a handful.

Have a great Xmas all xox

  5. move to Joondalup ;)

i wish. I have lived in Joondalup and have just moved out of Wanneroo (rented the property out) and i HATE living where i am now, and this just adds to it.

mine you, i am a bit cranky at COJ right now as Tuesday was my last day of work at Lakeside, it was forecast for hail, i am 37 weeks pregnant and i have to be out of work ASAP (its a 5-10 min waddle to the staff parking) to get my daughter from day care, so I parked under cover at the shopping centre and forgot to shift my car. lovely $60 fine for me when i got out to go home. Grrrr. but there is not grounds for appeal there, it was my fault and i was in the wrong.

I called the council and was told that it was a good grounds for appeal, but she wouldn't guarantee it would work. Now i just need some paperwork from City of Wanneroo to prove they are registered with them.

so fingers crossed for me. Its the last thing i can deal with right now.

Christi le being an ex Ranger I can tell you write in, you have nothing to lose bar a 60 cent stamp, you never know depends on what mood the boss is in! Hey i like the sound of your story and embellish it a bit being a good citizen and all and trying toi get through the xmas work ..... and thats adds to why you were late!! I am happy to help write the letter if needed!

  6. Wow how exciting Wazzat! Is she the same size as the other two?

Thanks guys, yes Amy this one is a standard too, cant find a good mini or Intermediate but the breeder is keeping an eye out. She is from a breeder in Mexico who took his dog to the USA for the whelping ( makes it easier to get the dogs here) Very puppy like but will improve with time in her ways and grown into a nice type.

  7. They cannot fine you for the dogs not being registered, but they can fine you for not having the correct address on tags ( I am not sure if this extends to the license) There is a Legal Dep at Dep local Gov, call them and enquire, a dog cant be fines for non rego if it is in fact registerd wherever is irrelevant.

    good luck.

Personally I would call the Council and try the nice way first!

  8. Arrived Sat from qtine my new Xolo Pitaya (Alvarez) Mexico

Very proud she will be the first dog reg under ANKC rules that accept FCI peds as they are assuming they fit all criteria in generations etc (In this case no prefix)

Working on her muscle tone and skin build up to what we here know as normal, I cant stand unmoisturised wrinkly Xolo skin!!

  9. Quick update on Bondi- after she had been going so well, even being able to walk on her own again- she is now back to square one and cannot use her back legs at all  I think she may have over done it on monday (I came home to find her on my bed, she somehow jumped up there). We have upped her steroid dose again- and from now on when I leave she will be left in a crate- which she will absolutely hate :(

I just hope she hasn't re-ruptured a disc and done permanent damage.

I am sure her getting on the bed is a good sign ( you know me I always have to find the positive0 Bondi is still moving forward with the odd step back and as long as its more forward thats gotta be a good thing! Sending positive vibes again!

  10. Well retrieving work for labs would never be 12 km's and they were bred to retrieve mainly from water not on the land.... I just worry about joints, i mean runners wear out their knees running so im not sure i would do it with my 2. Everybody is different and we all have our own thoughts but i just personally wouldnt do it with my 2. There is no reason why Mason couldnt do it if not fit enough but he is too heavily built i think. Weims even tho they are large breed they are not big boned or big built. They are quite athletic looking imo :)

this is true :) Weims of course were bred for a different purpose also and their structure shows that, compared to labs. Personally I think that it does depend very much on the build and endurance level of the individual dog... Old english Sheepdogs are meant to be an endurance breed, but I know of certain OES that couldn't manage it, and others that definitely could (this is without coat btw, i'd never make a full coated OES do an ET!)

My father used to run marathons ( 42.2km) and he took his Wei on the 32km training runs every second week, the did 10 ks every other day at least, he was one fit dog, not sure if they had the ET back in the 70s and 80s though!!

  11. Well today is day 63 of Crystals first mating. 61 of the second and 60 of the third.

So hopefully by the end of the week.

We had a Prog test this morning and another scan. Still only one pup, a "good size" as expected.

I will get the results and talk to the Vet this afternoon, after 5pm. It wa so nice to see it's little heart beating. :)

I'm getting a little tense now. last night we had lots of nesting and bed destruction and paper shredding going on. I have been monitoring her temperature and it holds between 37.4 and 37.8 but this morning at 8.00am it was 37.1. However the scan shows that the pup is still up under the rib cage and hasn't come down yet, so no iminent birth today (ha I bet those are famous last words). Well it's not likely today anyway, nevertheless she is under constant observation now that the older kids are finished at Uni.

So in the words of "Con, the fruiterer"...."waiting, waiting, couple of days!". ;)

Good luck Liz, I love the con the fruiter phrase!!

  12. Ok congratulations to everyone, thats it then for us long timers in Nov, I hope next time I am involved in a Puppy thread the people are as lovely as you guys! At least I have my new import in a week ( 6 days ) so thats a newbie sort of!

    Well done everyone.

How exciting - do tell more - a puppy or adult? :D

So sorry fordogs ( my bitch lost her pups at 42 days here in this thread) but I stayed on after losing them ( thinking I would be insanely jealous and upset BUT the girls and guys here were lovely and let me share in all the births and excitement with all their babies and joy!! )

I feel if things happen then they happen for a reason and that must be good in some way ??

Cant get a Xoloitzcuintle puppy as all countries are now Cat 4 where Xolos are ( UK was the last cat 2 meaning 30 days but now cat 4 is 180 days ) but I like the Mexican and lines from established breeders hence my love for Besitos and Mexican lines. The girl will be 11 months old when she arrives here, she will have six months of social training after being in a kennel situation for all that time with limited outside contacts, but its a new breed so has to be done, here is hoping next year we will have a litter, 5the dog gods being with us!!

  13. we sold a puppy to a lady who has paid for the puppy in full and is due to pick him up in a weeks time. We have had a few problems with this lady including complaining about the amount she spent on the puppy (talks about this every time we talk to her) and most recently said she was nervous about getting him etc plus a few other things. We now would prefer not to sell her this puppy and refund her money in full however have been told by someone that legally the puppy is hers and my law we cannot change our minds. Has anyone been in this situation? I have spoken to a few breeders who have said they do it all the time but just wanted to check with some people on here.

Do you not have a contract that was signed when you sold the puppy and collected the money ? Other than the conditions on that, I am not sure what the legalities would be ??

yes on my recepit it says if we can no longer offer you a puppy, you will be issued a full refund.

well thats covered then, if it states that, then i would tell her as others posted, the puppy is no longer available due to *******.

  15. Thats brilliant for rarer breeds!

If it opens the door there, it will open the door further here, which is MUCH needed in some rarer dogs cases. How fantastic! My dream of having a peruvian hairless might one day come true.. even if I have to send them to aus for a few months first LOL

Sadly the Peruvian never took off here, only one came and he must be getting on now! If the UK Kennel Club was pushed the xoloitzcuintle would be recognised there and be able to be shown in normal show classes instead of the IR! I have a few people in the UK waiting for my Xolos, but I am not to keen to send them where they cant be fully shown, but one lady has offered to take a dog to the WDS for me!!

I dont think the Peruvian is even on the IR in the UK is it ?

No, I don't think the Peruvian is here.

In the UK we have 3 sizes of Mexican Hairless recognised - is this just the alternative name for the Xolo, like Alsation for GSD?

How do you mean fully shown? As in separate breed classes? I can't see them ever getting the numbers up enough to have challenge certificates in the UK

The correct breed name is Xolotzcuintle just the UK people reg it as Mexican hairless ( FCI and FCM is correct in XOLOITZCUINTLE) As in showing at show level not just as an unrecognised breed in the Import Classes held at some shows, we dont have that here in Aus, either a breed is recognised or its not and cant be shown. There are Peruvians in the Uk but I dont follow the breed so wasnt sure if it was on the IR. ( sorry not my cup of tea!!) lol

  16. to all who have been waiting as long as me.......................

5 puppies so far, 2 bb girls, 2 red boys, 1 bb boy,

not sure if we are done yet, will update soon

congratulations Murmarstaffs, I cant do the little happy faces and cheerleader icons but

    HERE is one instead!!

  17. Does this mean dogs registered overseas who have titre originale dogs in their pedigree (eg 'mountain bred' or 'desert bred' where a sire/dam is unknown) and as a result don't necessarily have a complete 5 generation pedigree can be imported/used? The new rule does seem to make this possible!

YES YES YES !!!!! That is just what it means Tracy !!

and I have just such a pup here now with brand new papers

    Linda

No I don't think the new wording allows for dogs with incomplete pedigrees.

It allows for dogs with no prefix/suffix only.

All imported dogs still need complete pedigrees (3 generations).

That is right, but if you write and get facts on WHY and provide relevant breed info and kennel club country of origin info in a letter like I did, who knows, but you have to request these under specail circumstances. I had a lot of help from the Mexican KC and breeders world wide.

As I see it the dogs still have to have a three generation pedigree, I have been told to put in the ped to your association and attached a copy of the new rules..

    I put mine in yesterday!!

  19. I'm afraid the public won't ever get past Xolo (probably pronounced Zolo) for your breed .

Ages ago Wazzat Xolo wrote the pronounciation and from memory it is along the lines of show-low-queent-lee.

Thats OK Corrie I am happy with X and people who try, one must be helpful with those that want to learn!

I only get a tad upset ( ok really upset!! at mexican Hairless ) thats like calling a German Shep an Alsation!!

and you would be surprised about the public, they are keen to learn unlike some fractions of the dog world!!
